What does it mean when you melt gold jewellery down and it all turns black rather than molds together?
It means it wasn't gold at all lol
There are many ways to process this gold to 24 carat. Do you not bother because of cost?
Its possible ... it is complicated... with use of chemical youcan convert any gold like 12 k ,22 k what ever you can convert to24k gold ...but u can lose gold weight.., time 40 minutes
Is there any benefit to melting it down? Does it increase the value?
You are basically trying to take a much unpure gold like 10k 14k 18k 24k then melting it down into one single 999 or 9999 bar or whatever.
