Veridis Quo: Depressing
Short circuit: *G R O O V E*
XD
The comments on the video make it even more depressing... rightfully so 💔
but then *depressing again*
Veridis Quo is mysterious, not depressing, in my opinion.

It really is...sigh*

If a band breaking up is all it takes to decrease your mental health then yikes

XD
THE WRIST GAAAAAAME!
lol
It's kinda funny that you brought that up because that is literally what's happening at that moment in the song, the audio signal's bitrate is lowering. It's called bitcrush.
Exacto
Short Circuit Was planned to be in the 1997 Homework Album and is heard at their live shows from that same year of 1997 including Alive 1997. Daft Punk thought it was incomplete and finally made this verison for the discovery album
Good to know!
@@looeegy It's called bitcrush and has nothing to do with glitch.
If they work on it during all this time I think they wanted the music to be out and this is the result. As they were very meticulous, I don't think that the music is "incomplete" but that's what I think and I respect your opinion ! :D
Fuck u
@@looeegy if you watch the movie you would see that the "glitchy" part happens when one of the band members are electrocuted and he turns back to his normal form, it symbolizes that the plan failed and that the public knew that they were aliens.
holy shit
0:00 When daft punk releases a new official video
1:38 when you realize what it means
why is it so true?
Prime Time of Your Life:
yes
What does it mean?
😀😀😀😀
This song goes from sounding like something from Sonic the Hedgehog to something from Earthbound
Kranken of The Sea (aka piranha plant) theme is pretty similar
Hahaha omg yes
Ngl, I like the ending more than the first part
ha, so true, it sounds as if there could've been a 3rd part to chemical plant zone
I think the beggining is also very Earthbound-esque
this track is so 80s, and also so 2010's, but definitely not 2001
This was originally from 1997 and was gonna be in the homework album but held until 2001
It was made in the year 2000 not 2001
proto chillwave
2010s? How?
Listen to the Darkdancer album by Les Rythmes Digitales from 1999.
0:00 HAHA YEAH
1:38 oh....
The keyboardist is drunk, someone take him home.
@@AC3electrosphere no he just realised the death of the universe
_Instant Depression_
It sounds like a soundtrack you’d hear after a game victory and then goes to a cave soundtrack
Earthbound moment
RIP Daft Punk, they made a lot of bangers. This was my favorite song for a long time.
Same, man. That breakdown sweep at the end gets me every time
Débouchez-vous les oreilles, alors.
They're not dead lmao
@@AquaAguaWaterEau-DMP tu critiques Daft punk ?
No wonder this sounds so much like a Homework track. Apparently it already existed in '97
Ikr!
so thats why, homework is my favorite album, and this is my favorite track from discovery
It sounds like it was going to be in the Homework album but just did not make its way. maybe that's what happened I guess.
@@kevincruz290 Extacly like that. I read somewhere Daft Punk thought it's not ,,ready" and ended the song when making discovery.
People say it's still not complete because of the bitcrush at the end of the song, however I think that's the proper part of the song.
@@radosawrudolf4931 - wat
The bitcrush was pretty clearly an aesthetic choice, why would people say that-
0:00 - 1:38 : my life before daft punk splitting up
1:38 - 3:27 : my life after the saddening news
it do be like that tho 😞
It literally all comes crashing down...
This is *the* most underrated Daft Punk song
auto exe And one of the best
auto exe FACE TO FACE
Veridis Quo or Make Love
Not that its underrated but digital love has been and always will be my favorite love song.
Emirhan Jarrah I agree. Face to face was my upset favorite, even beating out One More Time. That might be the dancefloor king, but Face to Face is my favorite jam all around
From 1:38 and onwards is the music you have when you’re alone in your room at night, thinking about everything that has happened to you.
literally me right now brother. this comment made me realize that were all going through our own hardships and coping with them through this legendary band. I hope we all recieve what we need and desire. Its the least we deserve
It kinda reminds me of earthbound music
The first half of the song: groove
The second half: *gLiTcH*
Productions
Proudly present
Glitch and depression
That was done with a bit crusher
Hey, notice how it short circuits at the end, huh?
Interesting......
To me the distorted sound reminds me of those retro Atari videogame sound effects
I get it
@@luislopez3726 - Cuz it's bitcrushing. Pretty interesting actually, you'll often see filter sweeps in electronic music, but this is the first time that I hear a sort of ''bitcrush sweep'' used in that same way.
@@quadpad_music DP is full of pioneering sounds. Oh Yeah reminds me of bass boost, and I swear that Archigram in Flight qualifies as a vaporwave song. :O
first part: casually getting distracted by life. Second part: starting to think about life.
1:38 the perfect piece of music that makes you feel loss, nostalgia and sad acceptance of defeat
t h e r a p y
1:38 is my favorite part up until the end
yeeees dude
saammee
DEFINITELY
I like the second part too, but the first portion deserves far more love than it gets
Ong its so upbeat
1:38 the exact moment the band questions their own mortality and 2:13 procedurally fails to understand it
So...
Not even Daft Punk can understand Daft Punk.
listening to that song after losing someone important makes you scream out all the bad emotions in one breath, and helps to get yourself together
that transition at 1:38 tho..
It instantly kills you, you were freaking out, then it suddently turns into total depression... i love it....
Favorite part: 2:13
1:39 is so Earthbound
I agree 👌
no it's Prince
Prince+earthbound is a great idea
mariosbrother YES
the entire song is
It's hard to go through this album without wanting to shed a tear-
IKR
You have my undying gratitude for this ONE song. You should be so proud of it. Merci!
This has always been my favorite Daft Punk song. I stumbled on this song, which is how I discovered the band.
+larry summers i discoverd it from one more time (its a amazilgy exetremly good you shoud listin to it)
@AccidentalLyrics Same!!!!
Discovery was the very first album I bought in CD format. When Short Circuit's drop at 1.38 came up I almost cried.
Took one good listen to this and looked outside.
Damn. This is good.
How Is this comment a month old with not even a single like
Suprised to see you here, especially with one comment and one like after a month!
DUDE THIS IS BOPPING SO HARD RIGHT NOW!! This is like 80's meets Daft Punk, dang this is good!!!!
0:01 YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
1:38 : *instant depresion*
It's a nice mix of 80s and lo-fi, that goes together suprisingly well.
this sounds like a SEGA Genesis Sonic track
chujs
I was thinking of Earthbound haha :D
Yeah, just like that strange battle songs!
_I was about to say that_
it does sort of huh weird except for near the end
2:34 how our Daft Punk CDs will sound a few decades from now.
Lmao
Oh god. I hope my random access memories vinyl doesn't sound like a shredded sound card in like 20 years
@@arandomuserofinternet it will be sounding like it was made on a goddamn soundblaster with 4 bit samples
the first half feels like something from jet set radio or smashing drive or sa2,
1st Time: I dont like this song
2nd Time: Its cool
3rd Time: THIS IS MY JAM
It's always like that for me on songs Xd
lol totally
Mingis This is one of those songs that have to grow on you.
Yea. This song is definitely offensive at first. Looking back on it, this song foreshadows the Human After All album sounds.
Daft Punk was always French House, Smooth Electronica and Robot Rhythms
me with television rules the nation

0:00 You were born
1:38 Now you're 11 years old.
2:22 Now you're 30 years old.
1:38 when you run out of social energies and start dissociating while your friends keep having fun.
Short Circuit + LSD
Ohhh Yeahhh... 👀✨💫👀
1:38 sounds like a rubber band flicked under my chin
When I first heard this song I legitimately thought it was from an EarthBound fangame, or at least an inspired indie RPG. Cue my utter shock and excitement upon finding out that it's Daft Punk
Daft Punk brings my childhood back bc I used to love them alot
Sufi Shafina You don't love them now?
This one of my favourite tracks of Discovery!!
1:38:
- so how much modulation do you want?
- yes
this song has a lot earthbound energy
Everytime I lists to any song from discovery I get super nostalgic, because I used to listen to it in car when I was like 8 up until I was 11 and was one of only bands I would listen to
Me with one more time
I’m using this song for my Mime performance because it has a clear beginning, middle, and end with no words 🥹
This is the part I like to call "Shit got real."
Which would be??
@@Drag0nfly1848 The scene this song plays over in Interstella 5555
This song is the perfect Discovery counterpart for Human After All's Robot Rock if going to show cursed images, it sounds like something from Earthbound or any glitched stuff.
First time hearing this song and wow it's just perfect.
This song always feels like it ends so sad. Like it starts dying and fading away 😢
2:13 the bitcrusher is fantastic
The strings in the String Theory vibrate to this song like wub wub wub wub wub wub
This is the most underrated song I've ever listened to. It deserves more! The song matches exactly with the title, I feel like I'm getting a shock haha
It's great, it literally sounds like some distortion caused by coupling in the audio device - hence "short circuit"
“Woah look at the funky guy go”
lol

1:38-3:27 my fav part of the whole entire song
Underrated track
This doesn't even sound old.
How did I forget this was on the soundtrack....?
I miss them so much!
The synth at the minute 1:38 and onwards sounds like Prince's The Ballad of Dorothy Parker, anyone elese notices that resemblance?
Yes!
the first song ive ever heard from daft punk, this is my jam
WOAH
LOOK AT THE FUNKY GUY GO
When I hear this track, I imagine someone who's living a great life, full of energy, not worrying about tomorrow. Then one day, they get news from a doctor that they have a disease that will slowly get worse over time. What was once clear is now getting harder to make sense of, memories slipping away, motor functions being lost. Their doctor recommended medications, diet and exercise plan are an exercise in futility as every day, month, and year, the disease continues to take over, their life slowly fading away until one day it ends in their inevitable death.
Damn

@@i.o.mnatperet587 So deep...
Oscar Delgado Alvarez yeah bro...

You're not being serious are you?
***** its a jooooooooke
it better be
succ dont worry it is
kraftwerk did it long before
You know, people are saying this was originally gonna be in the Homework album. I honestly do get homework vibes from this. Energetic at first because (at least in my experience) you go at homework with full energy in order to get it done quick and then it starts to slow down and glitch just like after a while you start to fall asleep from the boringness of homework and the words on the page start to blur.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. at 2:23, I always thought it sounded like a robot shutting down
Weird, I thought it sounded like a graphics card slowly being fried into the utter nothingness
1:38-2:13 My life after Daft Punk’s retirement
incredible song
i love it
the part at the end of the track sounds exactly like the seraphim angel voices
intense cave exploration
0:00 - pre-nut
1:38 - post-nut
Thanks for everything, legends
One of the best songs
Listening the last 60sec after to smoke some weed = Transcendence
My favorite of the album and probably my favorite Daft Punk song
Thank you so much
this sounds like it came from the 80's but I like it still 😊
it is like a mix of the late 80s and early 90s
it is cool though
Kenneth Arocho ikr
Tara James yeah :D
+Kenneth Arocho 😃
That's the point. That is sort of what they want their music to sound like.
sounds like 80s hip hop
SEGA is what it needs at the start of the song
love it
Funkiest robots ever, will love your music forever
the second part sounds like synths crying and it gets me everytiem
0:05 *groove*
1:38 *oh...*
2:25 *HELL*
those who will get it, get it:
the bass synth lead at 00:30 reminds me of “The Urbz: Sims in the City”
actually, the whole song kind of reminds me of it, the end reminds me of starting out at Kings Tower.
the sounds of that game and this song share the same digitized grittiness.
Whoa! Look at the funky guy go!
The circuit is overworking. Then finally it’s at the point where it’s pretty much run out of juice then slowly degrades into spare parts.
i love this
i always like "spaz out" when this song plays in a headbangingly good way
don't know how else to describe it :)
Soy el unico que se pone triste con esta cancion? 1:38 :( esta muy sad esa parte....
Jajaja en si no pero en el Insterstellar 5555 pues algo. :0
A mí también me pone triste pero también me encanta esa parte

My favorite benchmark song! play on every system after set up is done
Oh my godddddd I love this so much ❤
My favorite one
This should be in Mother 4
arturleaorf That would sound so good 😁
Why not daddy
Lol
i didn't expect this comment
This is definitely a Daft Punk tribute to the great Electro-Break music from 1982-86
This song goes from something that would be played over an 80's NASCAR compilation to FTL
