yea, but now ai apps are adding artifical wait times to get you to pay for subscriptions. It also creates the illusion that the ai is extremely popular, and the servers are overloaded. Even if that's not how it really works, a lot of people think it does.

Download character AI, it won't send you pictures unless you let it but you can make it do anything you want and make your own characters talk to you and stuff like that and it'll sound like it's real or something. You should definitely try it out

You did a good job taking the AI’a job. KRplusr Tomska did the same thing, and created some… unique… final products that allowed art to be made more creative. An AI can’t make its own distinct art because it can only copy from others. Well done Danny, you proved why a robot can’t be an artist.

I feel like a lot of old chat bots were conversational like that. There’s no reason AI can’t be friendly and curious in tone if programmed to be. There’s just usually reasons not to program it to ask questions like that I think.

@johannesg8959 essays are meaningful because they teach students how to research topics and organize their thoughts into coherent and (when applicable) convincing forms. It serves a purpose the same way spelling quizzes teach memorization, or tests teach study skills. Obviously not everyone learns the same way, but to say that essays should be skipped because they don't do anything meaningful suggests that presentations or research projects in a workplace environment are similarly meaningless. At the very least, essays help to hone one's grammar and writing skills, which are an essential part of any white collar job

There is something so whimsical about an app where you send a prompt and get poorly drawn marker doodles. I love that concept so much more than data sets that steal art work. I mean that’s such a fun thing! Also thank you so much for addressing the morality of AI art as of late. It feels really nice to hear a big KRplusrs address something that’s been affecting artists for months now while people are either silent on it or even profiting off it in a lot of cases. This is such a fun video.
Poorly drawn? How very dare you
I was at an exhibition once where one of the art pieces was a "machine", where you could enter a prompt and get an image. You'd draw a number and when your number was called (ca 10 to 20 minutes), you could go retrieve your picture. Obviously it was just a few people inside the "machine" who were drawing the prompts (this was the 2000s so image generation AI was still science fiction), but it was super charming.
That part of the video reminded me of that.^^
I'd honestly get that app
I don't think generative image AIs steal art. They train based off of millions of images. Danny's example of training to make songs exactly like someone else's music. That's not entirely accurate, considering DALL-E and other image AIs train off of millions of other artists, and has numerous different styles. The way it has been trained is the exact way a human learns. The AI doesn't present other people's images as something it made, so it's not stealing. Also, in music, people sample constantly to add to their music because it's well known there's a point that most original ideas can only be built upon.
@@FastskullI feel the reason why AI "art" is theft is very different from Danny's music example. You were right on that part, music isn't the best comparison for this.
The problem with AI art is that it uses images from multiple artists (who, again, do not consent) and does not learn from and observe them to create it's own art style like a human, but rather copies and meshes with other images. An AI cannot create it's own images from its imagination, it fundamentally requires material to copy.
I have heard of an AI program that pays artists to use their art, but the majority just take art without permission. Just because it's on social media doesn't give you the automatic right to use it commercially, personal use (like using art as a pfp, saving it, etc) is of course fine as long as you don't claim you made it.
Commercial use is different however, people profit off of this stolen art and the original artist gets absolutely no compensation for a piece they could have spent weeks or even months on.
Hope this helps! I am also an artist so this issue is pretty important.
