There's an easy way to tell Galactus and Unicron apart. Galactus eats planets because he _has_ to, while Unicron eats planets because he _wants_ to.

Despite being antagonists, I like that Galactus was at least technically the good guy in this fight since he isn't all evil, I'd rather the planet be devourered by him
Indeed. Galactus doesn't feed on worlds because he wants to. He HAS to if he wants to stay alive. Unicron, however, feeds on worlds on the basis of "I am the embodiment of evil! I do what I want!"

@@captainvalkyrie999 I need to see that cause some of the dialouge is hard to hear over the battle sound effects. I love this fight, one of the best points being the poetry slams, so it's a shame that it's hard to hear.
Favorite line has to be "Fleeing so readily Unicron?" "No devourer, TRANSFORMING!" The taunt and clap back followed up by the ridiciously sized Unicron was awesome.

Well if Death Battle ends here with Rooster Teeth’s shutdown, at least they ended it with a bang and one of the most requested fights.
It sucks we’re never gonna see Wile E Coyote vs Tom but this battle was a perfect way to go out.

DB probably won't be going anywhere, or at the very least we'll get Season 11 since all of Rooster Teeth's projects that were still in production are supposedly going to be finished before the company closes. Death Battle is owned by ScrewAttack so I'd say it's a matter of finding a new partner since they haven't made any announcement about this yet and they still make podcasts themselves
Here's hoping this won't be the last Death Battle.

Yet another cool detail I noticed. As they keep growing bigger, it seems the stars in the distance stay the same, until you realise some are IN FRONT of them. They are literally so massive that stars have become mere specks against them

This Battle gave more respect to Galactus then every Marvel Comic writer in the past twenty years.

They are cosmic planet eating giants who existed before the universes that they lived in, with eons of knowledge, destructive unstoppable power beyond any mortal; their presence are divine destroyers that end all who stand in their way. They have watched societies rise and fallen, some by their hands as their victims live on in their memories. So yeah, they would know and like poetry
You know with them throwing planets and galaxies at each other, this technically counts as a food fight.

@@gevans446 It's likely that some of the battles didn't end the way they felt it should, so they join the many who say that DB shows bias in a lot of their matches.
The thing about Galactus that never gets refenced by people talking about him is that on top of everything else, he is a force of nature, not in the metaphorical sense, he is quite literally the counter force to entropy. He exists partially to hold off the heat death of the universe. This fight was inevitable because if Unicron wanted to end all life, he'd have to face Galactus sooner or later, and he would fall to him like so many have before.
Actually most comic book readers already know all of that. The only people who don't reference it are people who know nothing about the character

To be fair if they actually met they would either do this or just because unicron hates galvatron and nemesis prime aka 2 of his top 3 heralds the other one being rise of the beasts scourge unicron would state this how about my heralds against yours and winner eats this planet and the loser eats that one as unicron would point to cybertron and galactus would likely agree as it is technically win win situation as unicron if he loses gets to kill primus and if he wins gets to eat earth and and also he gets rid of nemesis and galvatron aswell so no downsides other than the chance scourge dies but does unicron actually care for his favorite herald and for galactus he can eat earth if he wins if he loses than he eats a bigger planet he probably would use the power cosmic to turn cybertron organic and finally he doesn't really care for his heralds either
It quickly escalates beyond the "snack." These are two immeasurable egos confronted with someone who defies their will, an intolerable situation for either of them. They need to prove who's the alpha predator. Plus, Galactus wants to feed on Unicron's energy, while Unicron wants to destroy Galactus because destroying is what he does.

He's been for decades if we're being fair. Him, The Living Tribunal, and Eternal.
I mean, to be fair. When you're used a measuring stick for cosmic, multiversal power, that's pretty bad ass in its own right, even if he's not getting the W very often.
There was the comic where he absorbs Dormammu, Sattanish, and everyone else at the battle making his power unstable. I also think he absorbed Black Bolt and gained his Quasi Sonic scream, causing all the dimensions to bleed into each other. Dr. Strange defeated him at the cost of everything as Strange was seen at the very end in an infinite white void with a question mark over his head. It may have been a what if scenario.

Unicron grabbing a star and condensing it into a black hole is the most badass move I've seen in fiction.
I dunno, comics has some moments like that. Thor took a planet and threw it into a black hole because the Necrosword was on it lol.

Essentially, Unicron was the embodiment of destruction, while Galactus was the embodiment of the entire universe. Unicron was evil, while Galactus is _everything,_ which includes evil.
Plus, if you really think about it, the ultimate nullifier was truly the only way to permanently kill Unicron. Think about it: any other method would leave evil and hatred in the universe, which would eventually allow Unicron to return. Using the UN however would not just destroy him, but completely remove him from the multiverse. And, since he is the embodiment of evil and hatred and destruction, then to nullify him would be to nullify all ill-will in the entirety of the infinite multiverse. That means that even after Unicron is gone, he will never return, as there is literally no ill-will. Ever. Since the dawn of time, there was never any evil. In killing Unicron, Galactus created complete and utter paradise. Every creature ever born in this new multiverse, in its infinite expanse, is altruistic to a perfect definition, and will never know the feeling of evil in any form. A beautiful consequence of the clashing of gods.

Considering that Unicron is a being of pure evil and there's now one fewer planet eater in that universe, I'd say that what happened in this episode IS the good ending.
Galactus eats planets cuz he has to. Unicron eats planet for fun so the 2 sharing was never going to happen.
I like to imagine that Galactus backed off against Reed in that old comic because he was impressed by the sheer audacity Reed had to even attempt that, and thus decided Earth was entertaining enough to not eat quickly.

I love how they talked and rhymed through the whole fight like old classic 60's-70's comic characters would. Like they're as much *mythical figures* facing off as giant colorful action figures slamming into each other

In the end, Unicron is exactly the kind of thing that Galactus gets called in to stop- and Galactus knows how to handle these things.
I can see the Living Tribunal ordering him to put an end to Unicron.
Makes sense since at his core, he's the overall cosmic force of everything, while Unicron is just the cosmic force of evil. Needless to say; IIRC Jack Kirby created Galactus to be the "God" of the Marvel multiverse.

@@skymabile2855 Exactly. For me Galactus is the literal concept of beginning and end, as he consumes, there are new universes made as if he's the big bang itself. Unicron is the concept of evil and malice, while you think destroying him might affect mortals like humanity, Galactus is not affected whatosever.
I recall that Galactus’s appearance differs depending on the race that is looking at him.
One can only imagine what Galactus would look like from Unicron’s point of view.

You know, it's kinda poetic that the most requested battle, a fight between gods that destroy entire galaxies with a thought alone, could be the last Death Battle now that rooster teeth are gone. If this is the end, then at least it went out with a glorious finale.
Honestly, this _does_ work as a series finale. As Wiz points out, every preceding Death Battle has fueled Unicron - what better way to close things out than by having him put all that fuel into a final battle with the other cosmic devourer in popular fiction?
But I hope it’s not the finale. This show deserves to go out on its own terms.

As he said, he was waxing poetry before, during Galactus's rundown. But with Unicron's, they have the answer for evil.
The way Galactus killed Unicron mid-way through his final speech was so cold. Like, he didn't care if his opponent got to hear it. He was talking out loud to himself for solely his own benefit; everything and everyone else was beneath him.

I like how Galactus was basically a protagonist in this situation. He may be a villain to the Heros of Marvel but he’s a keeper of Balance in the universe and there to stop those like Unicron from stepping out of line.
Galactus actually is responsible for defeating, imprisoning or killing many entities that would have wrecked bigger havoc in the universe than him.
In Marvel comics, Galactus isn't a villain, he's a force of nature and a universal constant.
Calling him a villain is inaccurate because he's always been indifferent to concepts like good and evil.

I love Death Battle! The way you analyze the combatants powers, strengths, and weaknesses, then explain why the outcome played out the way it did is unmatched! Keep doing what you do!
This proves that when Galactus isn’t just used as a punching bag and a feat for other characters by Marvel he can be a really strong and scary omnipotent god.
It's a testament to Thanos' strength that he had the power to knock Galactus off his feet. That's no small feat for any character in the MCU.
Galactus was created by Stan and Jack to be something beyond raw force to defeat. And he's only gone up the scale from there. Unless weakened by hunger or some ridiculous plot device, he's invincible.

Not omnipotent, but certainly strong. He is still leagues below One Above All. Omnipotent gets thrown around a lot and it's annoying.

I really appreciated that Galactus absorbed Unicron's own attack energy to boost his own power. It's an element of the character that's often overlooked. No matter the magnitude of force applied against him, Galactus can make it his own and turn it back on his attacker. In gamer terms, he scales to any challenge.
Even absorbed magic when taken out of the universe and put into the realms of magic.
Unicorn can do that back at him too.
Yeah but considering that Unicron absorbed the energy of a Multitude of Universes and even the Ultimate Nullifier itself, Galactus had more than enough power to absorb Unicron’s spark Itself after destroying his physical form.
Galactus is way too good at absorbing energies. Especially those related to science. Unicron's energy will probably be the same as every other for galactus.
You all forget 1 thing. Unicron has possession life force which depending on the timeline or being absorbing the life force (galactus) they will have to face true form unicron who is said to have erased the first ever universe and primus had to replace it with a new one. When unicron did this he learnt of every possible future and every being as well as their weaknesses. If galactus absorbs unicron's energy he will be corrupted and have to face a far more powerful unicron within the unicron hive mind.
I absolutely love how they just both keep growing in physical size throughout the fight

Honestly this hold death battle is so good.
This is one of the best animated fights that was done. Galactus and Unicron were casually chucking entire black holes, galaxies, and universes at eachother. This was a masterpiece. Despite everyone’s opinions they did both of these characters more justice than there respective verses as of late.

Honestly I think my favorite part of the analysis is how they technically stated in galactus's analysis that he killed the marvel equivalent of Unicron already, but when this came up in Unicron's analysis they instead distracted us with the sheer terror of what a being like him is capable of and how impossible it is for us to truly ever destroy him

Let's not also forget that Galactus isn't technically "evil" as you pointed out, so there would be no hatred or malice for Unicron to anchor on for potential revival. For Galactus, it's nothing personal, but for Unicron everything in personal, which is basically a liability.
That's not true at all. They litterly said that feelings of anger, fear, and destruction are enough for him to revive. All he needs is for someone to feel hate. He dosent need it directed at him.

This is untrue because Galactus has been shown to harbor emotions and feelings such as when Thanos snapped a planet away from Galactus right before he could feed. Unicron similarly, snatches a meal from Galactus. This would generate some hatred or malice or some other similar emotion from Galactus.
I'm often surprised by how much respect and authenticity you give all these characters, as opposed to treating them like a joke.

This season of Death Battle was phenomenal. The Shakespeareian iambic pentameter rhyming was excellent writing, giving this an incredibly unique feel. Not sure how you're going to top this and Goku v Superman.

Well, the meaning, effect and purpose behind the name is what matters, not the literal definition. For example, an alien is named “Superman”, a man in a bat-like costume is named “Batman”, “The Flash” is named after his speed instead of light, etc. Galactus referring to galaxies is a good summary of his character and instantly clicks to the reader his presence and power.

One thing I find worth pointing out. Unicron is always playing catch up here. Almost all of his attacks use a material of some sort, planets, suns, etc. While all of Galactus' attacks come from the power cosmic almost exclusively.

The best thing I learned from this fight was that Galactus himself, consumer of worlds, created the Ultimate Nullifier to destroy anyone he somehow couldn't, and yet he remembered to include a safety on it

According to an interview, Anti-Spiral was throwing universes, and all those galaxy looking objects in the background were universes. The artist(s) just didn't know how to draw a universe.
