The Rh- means that your blood does not have the Rh protein. People with Rh+ HAVE the protein and can accept blood that either has it or doesn’t, their body will produce the protein needed if they are given Rh- blood. However, Rh- people can ONLY accept Rh- blood. Their bodies can not remove the protein once it’s there.
As far as Vai’s comment about O- being rare (I’m O- too ☺️), it is one of the more rare ones compared to A or B blood types. However the most rare is AB-. What makes O- unique is that it is considered the “Universal Donor” meaning anyone of any blood type can accept O- blood. Because of this, if a hospital does not know a patient’s blood type they will give them O-.
AB, can accept either AB, A, B or O blood. AB+ can accept either Rh+ or Rh- blood so it is a “Universal Recipient”, AB- can only accept the Rh- versions of those blood types.
A can accept either A or O, and B can accept either B or O (with the same rules for +/-)
Unfortunately, O can only accept other O blood and since Rh- people can only accept other Rh- blood, people with O- can only accept O- blood.
In college I used to donate blood a lot, because once they found out I was O-, they would always contact me if there was a blood drive in the area. O- is always in high demand since it can be used for anyone, and so blood banks and hospitals are always lookin for more.
Edit: as mentioned by someone below apparently, in emergency situations (and depending on some other criteria) they will give O+ cuz the body will not react to the Rh protein immediately so in cases where a patient is bleeding out swiftly it’s not a major issue. This is done in order to help conserve O- (thanks @Kaylin Smith)

First time knowing these facts, really interesting
O negative blood isn't just handed out willy nilly, though. Usually only in trauma situations, and even then, there are stipulations: if you're male, and aged 16+, or if you're female over child bearing age, they will give you O positive to help conserve stores. But Blood Banking is incredibly complicated. Everyone knows about ABO, some knowing about Rh, but there are other antigens on red blood cells that make finding units for recipients even more difficult. Also, there are plasma donations, which work the opposite way of blood donations. O people can take any plasma, but AB people should only take AB plasma (in a pinch, AB people can be given A, but there are risks involved.) Rh doesn't matter as much when giving plasma or platelets.
I'm O+ and they always had me donate a lot too. Since moving to Korea I can't donate in the U.S. anymore tho because Korea is considered as a country with malaria risk. :/
Kaylin Smith yes I know they don’t just throw O- at everyone. If they have the time, they will test your blood type. It’s always best to receive matching type blood.
but in true emergency situations where they don’t have the time, they won’t give people of those age groups O+ cuz the people with Rh- blood can’t accept Rh+ blood at all. It could cause more problems than it’s worth and they wouldn’t want to take that chance. If it’s known they have Rh+ blood and they are out of their specific ABO type, then ya it would make sense they would give O+.
My point was only that if they don’t KNOW, they give O-.

Rh-는 인종불문하고 전세계적으로 적은 인구수만이 가지는 희귀타입입니다. 일반적으로 혈액형타입은 항원의 종류로 구분하는데 o형은 혈구에 항원이 없으며 a와 b ab형 에게도 소량이지만 혈액형의 차이를 무시하고 헌혈이 가능합니다. Rh의 경우는 -가 +에게 소량 헌혈이 가능합니다. 즉 Rh- o형은 매우 귀한 혈액형이며 헌혈 시 가장 조심해야 하는 타입입니다. 한국에서는 해당 타입의 사람들끼리 연락처를 공유한다고 합니다. 그만큼 위급상황시 혈액공수가 가장 힘든 타입입니다.

동양인들은 희귀한 혈액형이지만 서양인들에게는 아주 희귀한 혈액형은 아니라고 합니다 10명중 1~2명은 RH- 형이라고 알고 있습니다
맞아요 RH-는 희귀하고 거이 피가없어요ㅠㅠ
여러분 O형은 모든 혈액형에서 피를 줄 수 있고, AB은 모든 혈액형한테 피를 받을 수 있다고 하시는 몇몇 분들이 계신데 이거 엄청 위험한 소리예요ㅠㅠㅠ 생물 배울 땐 이렇게 배우는데 실제로 다른 혈액형끼리의 수혈은 거의 불가능합니다ㅠㅠㅠ 혈액형끼리 맞춰서 수혈하는 건 다 이유가 있어요ㅠㅠ 이런 방법은 매우 위험해서 아주 긴급한 상황에서 매우 소량만 사용합니다ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

I think its very important to know your blood type and let know your relatives, i case off accident you can be quickly transfuse! Also as a O type you are an universal blood donateur in cas of emergency so you can give blood to anyone :) blood donation center are really looking for this type !

RH+O이면 보통 O형이라고 이야기 하지 않고 RHO형이라고 이야기 해요! 이게 굉장히 희귀한 혈액형이라 그냥 O형이랑은 달라서 그래요 그냥 그렇다고요ㅎ

I remember in highschool we were learning this on biology and we discovered one of my classmates' blood type was not posible with their parents and siblings' blood type... My teacher said you should have a talk with your mom 😂

I once heard that blood type inheritance is rather complicated compared to the other characteristics. So; it can't be determined easily based on your dad and your mom's blood type only.
You know, after some point it stopped being about the content you bring (culture comparison etc.) but became watching you and Jaein, Vai and Erina having fun.

RH- O형 매우 희귀하고 귀한 혈액형입니다 데이브행님 모든혈액형에 수혈가능하지만 수혈받는거는 RH- O한테만 수혈받을수있죠 크게안다치게 조심하세요!
덧붙이자면 동양에서는 RH-혈액형 비중이 0.1%정도 밖에 없지만 서양에서는 20%정도로 적은 수는 아니라서 아마 서양쪽이신 데이브님이라 그렇게 나온 것 같네요! 한국에서 사시니까 조심하시는 게 좋은 건 맞는 말인거 같아요!

dave, if your blood tipe is O- you're a global donor! you can give blood to all other blood types. that's why you're special 😊
but it really hard for O- to accept blood as they only can accept the same type of rhesus. and luckily he is a guy who is a O- if female having O- , need to have super precaution when getting married cause it could give effects to the baby.
And because it’s the same as an awesome band!
@@xiaomell i know! i'm O- too and i know the risks about pregnancy and all that stuff... but i think it's worth it if we can donate blood to everyone, it's really rewarding in a sense knowing that you're helping out other people, whatever their blood type is

There's really no reason you would need to know your blood type in the US unless it was for donation or something medically related. But this is super interesting! It's kind of like how we believe that zodiac signs have an affect on our personalities.

In Europe it's more normal you know your bloodtype, if you get in a bad accident you know which blood they need to give you (I always have a card of my blood type in my wallet)

RH-는 응집이 되지 않는 Rh형입니다.
알파 또는 베타 응집원을 반응시켰을때 응집이 되지 않으면 Rh-이고 응집된다면 Rh+ 입니다
I didn't realize that blood type percentages change with location. I'm AB positive so it was cool to find out more information about traits surrounding that. I'm American and we don't ask each other's blood type so I wasn't aware this was a thing.

그렇구나 그러면 외국은 수혈을 할 위급한 상황이 와서야 그때서야 혈액형 검사를 하고 그에 맞는 수혈을 받는건가..?
위급한 상황이라 가정하면 보통 응급실 도착했을때 혈액검사를 해요 (우리나라에선)
거의 기본적인 검사니까 외국에서도 다 하지 않을까요? 그러면 환자의 신체적 성향들이 기록이 되어있으니까 극한의 상황이 생겼을 때 뒤늦게 혈액형 검사를 하지는 않을거같아요!
게다가 우리나라 남자들은 군대가면 혈액형을 필수로 체크하니까 더 잘알걸요. 군번줄에 혈액형 적어놔야해서 ㅋㅋ
그래서 외국 특수부대는 그냥 자기 군복에 혈액형이 박혀있기도 하고
한국에서도 위급한 상황에 응급실에 간다면 바로 피 뽑아요.(외관으로 볼 수 없는 병 때문에 투여한 약물이 거부 반응을 일으킬 수도 있으니깐요)다른 검사와 함께 혈액형 검사를 실시하는거죠.즉 우리나라나 외국이나 똑같이 위급상황에 혈액형 검사하는거에요.

Loving the hair cut and multiple colors! Neither my blood type nor my zodiac sign match my personality. I have maybe 2 traits from my zodiac sign thats it so I'd go with the doc on this one. Blood type has nothing to do with it nor does astrological signs. It's fun for people when things align but for people such as myself it can be a real pain or just irritating when someone asked for my sign, I tell them and their like oh you must not like this or that or we aren't suppose to be compatible but my personality is nothing like that sign so yeah.

And in the case where it's not immediately necessary for the person to receive blood, they just do the test to determine the blood type. Even if the person knows and remembers their own blood type, they have to scientifically prove it because if you make a mistake, it'll kill you.

I do find it interesting how some of us know our types while others don't. I'm from the US and around Dave's age and I have known my type for ages. I asked my mom when I was probably in middle school and she knew and I believe we had known since I was born or at least when I was a baby.

i found it really interesting.. i'm from Indonesia, and people here basically know their blood type, but rarely talks about the character/personality based on their blood type (but it's becoming frequent now, a couple years ago, since the comic book of blood type released in Indonesia) and talks about the personality more based on astrological..
so it was kind of shocking that people in America don't know their blood type xD cuz i thought everyone in the world must have known their own HAHAHAH but glad that you brought this up man
and damn Dave, high school students here studied blood type in Biology class and when it comes to laboratory practicum, we draw our own blood with finger-stick blood draw.. and then we smudge it to the blood-type-card (idk what it's called) and just giving it some antigen serum, 10 minutes wait and result's up.. seeing the blood reacted to the serum is very fascinating HAHHAHAHAH
