I know everyone was affected by COVID; but Texas had just hired two new coordinators who then lost their opportunity to teach their schemes in spring training. I believe that put an extra whammy on the team. So far, I'm happy w/his hires. My opinion is that he seems to be leaning more toward guys who are also great recruiters.

I went to Texas back in the late 70's. Last year I brought my son to the campus to "show-off" were I proudly had come from! It was sad, THE problem IS the campus is now 99% "woke". The fact that Herman had winning seasons at all is an outright miracle. I've read that Herman had to DEAL daily with players wanting to NOT sing the Eyes of Texas, a constant push to rename DKR to something "ethnic". His players were outright "victims" who required NON-STOP attention. Football obviously became second to the non-stop trash pumped out by the professors at UT. The proof is how well Freshmen preform and then slowly turn to average after their first year of brain-washing. Honest fans can look back and KNOW this is true. Herman had a program in Houston NOT effected like the UT campus, results: WINNING. Look at the fall of USC who has the exact same problem, they will NEVER have a Championship Team again. Then look at ALABAMA AND THEIR DISCIPLINE, yeah not so much. There are two #3 recruiting classes that Sark has inherited from Herman...hopefully he can navigate through the privileged political victim-hood nightmare he's stepped into and keep his players Alphas on a campus that now proudly pukes out Betas. For those who don't believe this....GO to Austin and just walk around. Austin WAS the most beautiful city in Texas in the 70s/80s. Now it's a sh*thole, an embarrassing absolute trash heap. Go look for yourself. I will ALWAYS be TEXAS FIRST and I pray Sark can get his players through the mine field but I think until the country turns back up the roller-coaster of time towards conservatism (every 40 years) he is going to struggle guiding young men who are being taught they have been wronged their whole lives and DON'T have to listen because THEY ARE the future. NO Championship has EVER been won on just combined players natural talents (See: USC's talent vs TEXAS 2005) it takes an unshakable commitment to a FOCUSED non-distracted unified goal.

You have no clue. Sark wasn’t fired from USC for anything to do with “woke” if you mean by “ woke” awareness of and opposition to long ingrained social biases and deadly practices against blacks and other minorities in our society. He was fired at USC for failing to show up to lead practice or showing up drunk at practice, then also showing up drunk to address alums and administrators, and making inappropriate statements as a result(hopefully it was the booze). Further, he was charged with inappropriate social interaction with students. His wife divorced him for that. Hopefully what he learned from Saban is personal self-discipline and moral restraint. When you talk about Christian conservatism I hope you’re not talking about the biased white supremacists beliefs and practices that have caused lesser opportunities and, too often, more deadly and punitive treatment of blacks and other minorities by police and other institutions in our society. If so, that won’t be swept under the rug again I hope. Evidence gathering of wrongful conduct is in the palm of everyone’s hands these days in the form of cell phone cameras and security surveillance everywhere. Now if you’re talking about a sense of moral integrity, fairness and justice for all, which has nothing to do with Christianity, in particular, since it can be any faith promoting those principles under our First Amendment, yes that’s where the focus should be. I think the problem was Texas alum impatience with the rebuilding of that program after letting go Mack Brown which was Texas biggest mistake. Saban is able to bring in some of the brightest young coaching minds in the game, and give them a solid foundation to create from, then allow them to flourish within defined boundaries. I believe Brown is capable of that and should have been allowed to do that. I hope Sark can now function within appropriate boundaries now. As to USC, the NCAA’s biased takedown of Carroll’s winning program is now confirmed in court cases and the targeted coaches have recovered millions. You blame “woke” when NCAA misconduct and coaching malfeasance were responsible for Sark’s coaching failure at USC. I think Sark knows better now. For that reason, I hope he has conquered his personal demons and can get Texas back to its winning ways again. However, I don’t hope our society returns to accepting the white supremacist, racist practices of the past or condones or ignores immoral conduct. I do hope we practice moral integrity, equality and justice for all.
