My parents and I are currently living in an apartment complex in Williamsburg, and we have our fair share of noisy neighbors too. Sometimes we’ll hear thumping noises from upstairs, and we immediately know it’s just them running around.

God, you made me remember my old neighbors. They were an old, nearly deaf couple, and a bunch of young adults, and many kids. You can imagine. We would hear the TV literally all night long at extremely loud volumes because they can't hear anything. They would also shout. They young adults would scream and cuss all night long too. The kids could be heard from the whole country. Dogs where barking 24/7. Also, a 12 year old would practice music intruments and kill our ears. Pain my dudes.

Growing up in an apartment something I wouldn’t hear super often but happened too much were couples yelling at each other. Sometimes I’d find out it was at the expense of their children.

I feel this. Neighbors hated each other. Full on smack downs. And then got pregnant. So then there was smack downs and a screaming kid. One day it reached a pitch up to the point of the guy asking our other neighbor for a gun. When denied, he said "Fine I'll do it myself!" Extreme screaming, toddler screeching, and suddenly a thump and...silence. My roommate and I were terrified we had just heard a murder. We had called the cops before but they basically told us to mind our own business and only showed up 1 of the 3 times we called. So we called the landlord to let him know about everything and that he...might, um, need a clean up crew. Thankfully the police took him seriously and finally showed up. Turns out the huge bang was the door being slammed so hard it cracked the wall as the woman left with her kid to her mother's. She unfortunately went back to him a week later and the arguments still happen but now are accompanied by a small dog barking and a child screaming.

Honestly, I have somewhat been through a situation like things. And to those who are like “just say no” NO! You don’t understand true fear if your saying that. It’s a scary situation to be in.

For some reason, our neighbors seem to think that it's obligatory to have some sort of party at least every other day. And I mean like, choose-the-loudest-speakers-you-can-find-and-set-the-volume-at-100%-so-that-it-can-be-heard-from-5-houses-away kind of parties. Oh, and did I mention this is at like 12:00 AM and goes on to like 3:00 AM. And also the way our houses are built, the noise echoes around and it sounds like the music is coming from all directions.

Less than half a year ago a dramatic homicide happened a few floors below me and I was the first one leaving their apartment to try to locate where the arguing and screams were coming from. I'm pretty small and weak and it was kinda scary, but I grew up on the countryside where neighbors always help each other so I didn't even consider staying in my apartment and ignoring the commotion (until I told my dad about it the next day and he kinda "scolded" me for putting myself at risk lmao)
Though I have to add that I live in a pretty "good neighborhood", plus I could hear that the victim was female. If it had been a fight between two men I probably would have called the police without leaving my apartment.
