Michael Perez Actually thats wrong. This is the version he sings which is the original arrangement of song. Also the final song of the movie. There is 3 different versions. The one sang by Gretta, then the one where "sold his soul", Then this acoustic version.
I played this song in my car, the last evening I had with my dog before he died. He looked so peaceful, thoughtful and happy. This song always reminds me of him and how much I love him.

Adam you did a great job but the real credit goes to the guy who wrote the song - Gregg Alexander - former frontman for the 90s band "New Radicals". He writes songs like no one else, so talented yet so underrated. Gregg, you have got to come back and perform your own music.
He's not really all that underrated seeing he has a Grammy for writing. And this song was nominated for an Oscar which is credited to him.
no wonder why the melody somehow sounds alike to Someday we'll know. I love the song and there were times I kept playing it over and over again. Gregg's songs are really unique. The whole Begin Again playlist and the movie are amazing, too.

It's ironic because what happens to Adam's character in this movie is pretty much what's happened to him and Maroon 5 - became too big, went too mainstream and forgot what kind of music got them there in the first place. Not saying all of their current songs suck, they're still coming out with catchy songs, but I honestly prefer their Songs About Jane days..

Adam Levine has the potential to do amazing things (thus songs about jane and even this song), but I feel like he just wastes it on generic music that sells. Basically doing exactly the opposite of what this movie is about and portraying exactly what his character did in real life

yup basically and it's sad! and I agree with Mary Graaff Adam always talks about his musical influences and they are usually iconic rock bands who made amazing songs- and yet he lately he continues to put out mediocre music. I believe he knows the music isn't that great, but he has stopped caring one way or the other.
flutesavy123 Adam said that was their exact intent on OE, due to the success of MLJ after mediocre HOA sales, they wanted to continue the trend into mainstream with that album and it worked with Payphone and OMN reaching the top 2 spots, as well as Daylight and Love Somebody being successful. Not all songs are bad on that album, in fact they've never really put out a "bad song" IMO. It's not that he's stopped caring about the music they make, otherwise why not just quit. They're serious about what they do, but it's more along the lines of him not caring about people who think they've "sold out" or sacrificing quality for gaining radio hits. I actually get frustrated because he has so much potential to make better songs on a vocal level that would still be hits, but chooses not to as of late. I think V will be a different case, though. What I really want is for them to go back to writing their own stuff. Not throwing shade, but other people's songs are literately too SIMPLE for someone with such a complex voice to begin with. It's like they don't understand how Adam's voice works, or should anyway.
Mary Graaff While I 100 percent agree with everything you said as a long time Maroon 5 fan, your point about them writing songs is ironic considering he didn't write this song, lost stars, and yet its one my favorite songs that he sings. So I think it comes down to the songs Adam choices to use if he writes them or not. I hated Overexposed and everything they did with it. It has made me and my girlfriend pass up on V until we hear more songs. Maps is ok but not something super powerful in mine and her opinion.
