Because it doesn't mean you are a priest you can exorcise anyone who is possessed and banish demons. You have to learn how it is done and you have to have a strong character, determination, faith, emotional and mental stability.

Can anyone remember what he studied at university?
Props to Ollie because the question of "Is it ok to be entertained watching people dying, even if it's not real?" is huge, and actually a real moral question!
If death or cruelty gives you pleasure or are a kind of lust, it is probably not quite "ok" anymore. In horror films (or novels), these things play an important role because they add drama and terror to what we perceive as entertainment, because we always know that it is not real. Reading a non-fiction book about mass murderers is a completely different experience.
@@corumeach I'm fully aware, which is why I tend away from horror as a genre. Why add more horror to this already horrific world? Mere imaginations of death are far less frightening than the reality.
we all like the huge disaster movies or those like it. we’re unsaveable. lol
I agree! Ollie really is a genius!
Brianna Wilson I agree, Brianna! Maybe there’s some justification somewhere (it helps us deal with the concept of death, it makes us less scared, helps us to explore these issues in art and culture, etc) but I’m always like “is this seriously making the world a better place??” I dunno
josh during the show-
“AHHHHH...NOOOO... this is gonna give me nightmares!!”
josh after watching it-
“It was surprisingly funny”
I actually appreciate to here a male person saying he is getting nightmares from horror movies too!
i didn't really find Dracula that scary...more like supernatural action? don't know, maybe after buffy ( a show that has an episode that actually still gives me chills )and supernatural, the exorcist(tv show),and everything else i might not have the same definition of horror movie /tv show anymore XD
@ABDALLA AWALE no, i am saying that the format of dracula, with that much action and the badass vanhelsing, reminds me too much to buffy or supernatural...or even the vanhelsing movie, and so it feels more like dark supernatural action than horror.
Yes it was, surprisingly human too, when he took the pain away for her at the end really made me cry, especially after watching my mother have to endure her battle with cancer which she ultimately lost, I would have given anything to be able to make the end more peaceful for her.
Yes! And surprisingly human as well, the end actually made me cry so much. Especially when he took her pain away, as someone who has had to watch family members lose their battles with cancer this kind of broke me. 😭
Try reacting "Constantine", "Lucifer", "Legion" and some k-drama called "The Guest" and "The Priest" for another supernatural rev-iew 👀👀
Yes please do react on Lucifer ✨
Quick reply: there is an episode in season one where Lucifer has some interesting interaction with a priest.

If every person was like Chris the world would definitely be a good place.
This Dracula really reminded me of Fox's Lucifer, so now I really want Rev.Chris to watch and review mainly the biblical references in the Lucifer show, even if they're not always accurate he might still find them amusing!
While this would be fun, the TV show is based off a comic book, not the bible. So, the comic took liberties with the bible stories. Rev. Chris would have to watch 'Lucifer' through several filters.
@@McKavian True
@@McKavian The TV show took a lot of liberties with the comicbook too. Other than the basic premise of "Lucifer leaves Hell and opens a nightclub in LA", it's pretty much all different.

"Dracula" is a Gothic romance novel, not a horror novel. While there are elements of horror in it, it is far and above the "penny-dreadfuls" of the preceding age, such as "Varney the Vampire". The problem I have with this adaptation is the same problem I have with every other adaptation I've seen, it either misses or deliberately abandons the true intent of the novel. "Dracula" is a romance novel and a morality tale. It is the story of a couple, Johnathan Harker and Mina Murray, who have been attacked by evil, and how they, along with their associates, struggle to defeat that very evil. It is the tale of ordinary people, facing extraordinary circumstances which they must overcome, in order to have a life together. Our modern, jaded, cynical age has made Count Dracula the ultimate anti-hero, which he is not. He is the villain, the worst form of villain, one which will devour any and all to feed his own desires, addictions and ambitions. Count Dracula is ultimate form of human villainy, the amoral character, all others exist to serve and feed him. It is a tragedy this isn't appreciated today, I believe it is deeply relevant in our modern times.
Yeah it's all the problems I have with any representations of Sympathy For the Devil type narratives 🙄 I'm just not into them anymore, I think it sets a not-okay precedent for what people allow in everyday life (but then there's that argument of "tv doesn't MAKE you do anything," but I personally think it normalizes otherwise problematic ideas at least in your subconsciousness)
At least with fiction & media I feel lawful good about the content I consume and I dont support much of what's outside of that. Reality is definitely more complex
Personally, I prefer it when characters have duality. I think one of the best vampire representations is Young Dracula. It was a kids comedy show, but it showed evil redeeming and attempting to repent.
I don’t think they made him a sympathetic character. I think Netflix did a good job at showing what he is. A monster with no morals and the worst type of villain
now that you mention the penny dreadfuls, actually the show " penny dreadful" could make for a good review om this channel too
@@lavenderdemons Yeah, they just casted an attractive man, but they didn't made him a sympathetic character at all. He actually mentions how he doesn't like to supress his killing instincts and how he enjoys it

You know that the real "Dracula" never lived in Transylvania, right?
@@RAD91 Absolutely. Personally I dislike the region being associated to a fictional character that had nothing to do with the area whatsoever.
But explaining foreigners each time makes me look smartass so I often just play the part. I love it when people do their homework.
If I had a penny for each time tourists looked at me like I was insane for giving them historical facts, I'd... dunno, never had that much money 😂

" Netflix & pray " - Ollie 2020
Epic 😂
The thing that works with a priest watching Dracula is that they realize that Vampires are supposed to represent the very antithesis of humanity and that it isn’t about the horror, but the character.
That series was AMAZING!!! Sister Agatha is such a wonderfully strong, brave, intelligent character. Definitely worth watching the whole series. Unfortunate it's only 3 episodes.
Rev. Chris: "Get outside, go for a walk in the park, enjoy the air..."

I love how Josh and Rev. Chris instinctual reaction to something scary is to grab the nearest pillow to hug in front of them. It's adorable and naive that they think that'll do anything to stop the film or vampires from hurting them. I know it's meant to be comforting and something secure to hold on to and not actually to protect them from anything. Just amused that as adults we never grow out of that kind of thing.
Unless the cushions are filled with garlic!...checkmate!

4 seasons of lucifer would be an interesting series that he would react on because there's a line in Lucifer where it really struck me, something along lines of people always look someone to blame of something they instead of taking the blame themselves, Lucifer said.

I absolutely loved this modern version of Dracula. And yet, it was so loyal to the original… Loved it!
"Made by the guys who also made Sherlock." I'm torn between this statement and their reaction if whether or not I'll watch the show.
It was mostly gross and disturbing. It had none of the charm and chemistry of Sherlock.
@@revinaque1342 I figured since one is a detective and the other is a super natural. But with the clips they included, it does seem gruesome and bloody. But is the story telling good? Because when I watched Sherlock, I only did because I liked Doctor Strange and wanted to see more of Benedict Cumberbatch. I didn't think I'd end up downloading and watching all four seasons in nearly one sitting because I got that hooked.
It's good, I especially enjoyed the character of the nun. Very funny, very interesting. Dracula loves his puns and takes immense pleasure in...well hunts (?).

Josh: "no no no no, I am not watching this"
Also Josh: *peeks behind pillow*
I really like how Rev. Chris says that it's our choice to choose what we're open too and that we have been given the wisdom to discern because that's what my mom always told me. What may bother me and be a door to darkness for me might be totally fine for someone else and vice-versa. Sometimes I'll think a random show will be fine, but once I start watching it I get a terrible feeling that tells me to stop no matter how innocent it seems. If I ever ignore that feeling I always regret it.
Same
The points about free will (even without specifically naming it as such) and taking your own dignity and value seriously are one of the reasons I love watching the Rev Chris reactions. So much goodness and truth in this.
Same, my dad also relates it to how God gave us free will/choice and it's up to us to do what we want. But that we must understand that there are consequences of every choice we make.
