The fact that Nickelodeon didn't just make an Ultralord spinoff series with Sheen as his sidekick instead of whatever tf Planet Sheen was supposed to be will forever disappoint me

I personally love the theory that this Sheen is actually a clone, like in that episode where Jimmy clones himself and creates all those flanderized versions of himself, which makes sense when you take into account how much more obnoxious and dumb Sheen was in this show compared to how he was in Jimmy Neutron proper. Plus, Jimmy setting up a series of deliberately enticing notes to an empty lab with a shiny new rocket seems like a plot he'd hatch up to get rid of Sheen's annoying doppelganger.

Oddly enough, Jimmy Neutron wasn't being broadcasted in my country when I was younger, but Planet Sheen was. It was my first introduction to the franchise, to the point that I thought:
_"Wait, that J.N kid has a TV show? And there's a human Doppy?"_

I suppose my main problem with Planet Sheen is that they made Sheen way dumber, like don't get me wrong he was dumb in Jimmy Neutron but it was never at the point where you wonder how he functions on his own.
Plus Sheen never really seemed to care about getting home for some reason, and they completely took away his Ultra Lord obsession too, all in all I think it definitely had potential just not with the direction they went in.

I know Mike Gasaway, one of the “creators” of planet sheen. He directed a bunch of episodes of jimmy neutron. He told me and some of my students that essentially this concept was never supposed to involve sheen. Basically just a man who travels looking for intelligent life on other planets. Only to find the life isn’t all that intelligent. Nickelodeon loved the idea. But said it had to be a kid… they also wanted it to be a character they already knew. So they asked it to be Sheen. Mike stepped away before the series was done. He doesn’t seem real happy with what they did to his concept.

I bet Ms Fowl would be really angry about Sheen getting his own show, more than anyone. But I would give anything to see her reaction to it lol

It should've been a one-off TV movie like what Hey Arnold! and Rocko's Modern Life eventually did. Of course, those two came way later, but it would've been more effective.

The show should’ve ended on a cliffhanger with Big Brain Sheen resurfacing to concur the planet. Picture this: Sheen sits upon the thrown laughing maniacally while looking through a telescope pointed at earth to reveal Jimmy looking at the sky. Cut to black.

The literal only joke I remember laughing at in this show was one with Dorkus’s answer to “if you could go back in time where would you go and why?”
“I would go back in time to my own birth and congratulate my mother”

I remember this show. It always bugged me as a kid how sheen never seemed to put much effort into going home. Like I get hes the goofball. But sheen doesn't really seem to miss his friends and family that much.

At least Patrick didn't get his own spinoff... Ha ha ha... Oh wait.

I found out through TV Tropes that the spinoff was originally going to be an Ultra Lord cartoon. And after looking at the potential character designs it leaves me asking why didn’t they go with that?

And years later Patrick gets a show. I feel like characters like Sheen and Patrick can only be taken in small doses or with another character to balance them out.

I once had a dream where there was an episode where Jimmy arrives on Zeenu to take Sheen home, but Sheen was rather hesitant in leaving. Kinda interesting they originally had something similar planned.

This show shouldn't have ever been made I never watch the show fully but see glimpse of it here and there before turning like do people know Sheen is missing on Earth?

Actually the show was changed from being less serious due to it originally being too similar to Avatar. The movie with blue people, not the Nick show.
I'm also surprised that you didn't talk about the fact that Planet Sheen was originally gonna be a completely different show separate from the Jimmy Neutron franchise.
And while we're on the topic of the Jimmy Neutron franchise you should talk about the Jimmy Timmy Power Hours.

He's supposed to use a piece of Jimmy's hair and scan it to get in to the lab. He's not supposed to just open the door.

Even as a kid, I had a little theory about the nature of this show. Though I only watched a few episodes and forgot the series existed until years later.
Young me thought at the finale, it would be revealed that the whole show was just a simulation made by Jimmy.
Sheen is actually in a vr-headset type contraption, for how long? I'm not sure
The reason? To finally teach Sheen a lesson about messing with Jimmy's inventions, and to prepare for unseen consequences. In this case, being stranded on a far off but habitable planet.
It would explain why in-universe the aliens look the same, its because they're copy-pasted models that Jimmy created.
Jimmy's avatar is Mr. Nesmith, cause they're not only intellectually similar, but also Nesmith has a similar hairstyle to Jimmy. And also explain why Nesmith doesn't really look like an ape. Jimmy is also using a voice filter.
All the characters are either mo-cap or traditionally animated.
Something like this would take years to program this whole thing; but given Jimmy's intelligence, it probably only took a few months.
Carl wanted to be apart of this simulation too, but didn't even try to disguise his avatar from his real self.
The characters are voiced by either characters from the original Jimmy Neutron series or the same voice actors within said universe.
It would also explain why even by Jimmy Neutron standards, the world makes no sense.
Maybe a few times the world would've glitch out or the actors would break character; forcing Sheen to finally use his brain to figure out something's up.
Obviously this is not what the creators or even the network intended, but it would've made alot more sense.

I feel like it could've been better as a like a mad-for-TV movie or an hour long special where it combined the movie idea with the pilot's plot.

You know that ending scene from the JN episode "Brodcast Blues" when the principal talks to the kids about their show? I feel like that scene is exactly how PS was made. JN's forth and last season was scrapped for this.

Sean was a great character. I loved him in Jimmy Neutron. He was great because he balanced well with Jimmy but without Jimmy, he was extremely overwhelming.

The biggest crime this committed Is not just the absent of Jimmy hoping out of his way to rescue his friend but *knew* he wanted to give rid of him for his own good for what he rid to him from his past adventures and already plan on getting rid of Carl as we speak for so causing his sanity.

Should have been a movie as you said, with Jimmy and Carl on just as much as an adventure as Sheen, whilst trying to find him. At the climax, all the ridiculous plans Sheen executed on the planet could trump Jimmy's well thought out plan and save the day from whatever. To everyone's monumental confusion.

Anyone else think that its overall appearance looks... worse. like Jimmy Neutron looks aged but it doesnt look as wrong as Planet Sheen lol. The animation screams that no one really cared about this too, kinda just feels like "this is my job, get it done, even if the product is shit, i need the money"

I remember seeing the previews for this and thinking “When did Jimmy Neutron end? Who was asking for this?” Tried watching the premiere, and yeah, it just wasn’t great. Sheen was never a character I liked much even during the Jimmy Neutron days so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised I hated it. Happy to let Jordan suffer through and just give me the summary.

Switch between Jimmy building a ship to track down Sheen, and said teen slowly growing to be a hero to the people of Zeenu. Maybe Jimmy is met with some opposition by familiar faces, while Sheen gets to be in the spotlight for once.

I think for all the weird stuff that happened in the original Jimmy Neutron, it helped that the main character acted as a straight man to all that insanity. An outlandish character like Sheen however does not play off well against an outlandish world.

I feel like the series would’ve made more sense if this is what happened:
While messing around with Jimmy’s stuff, Sheen accidentally clones himself, but before doing so, he messed with the settings of the cloning machine resulting in the clone being even more dumb and annoying.
Upon seeing this, Jimmy wants to freeze the clones like he did to his, but Sheen begs him not to, saying he believes his clone deserves to live a life. Jimmy agrees but tells Sheen he plans to trick the clone into flying yo another planet. When Sheen asks why, Jimmy states “One Sheen is more than enough for this world or any other”

My younger brother had an interest in this show since Sheen was fave character of his. The show never interested me, and tbf, that opening constantly suggesting that Sheen was THIS idiotic that he would act so far out of character to hijack Jimmy's rocket and manage to somehow reach a far away planet doesn't feel like the Sheen I watched a movie and three seasons of. It's *waaay* too big of a flaunderization to accept this as part of the same canon where he had enough senses to know how to use his Flash powers in that one or two episodes where Jimmy and friends gained temporary powers from random space radiation.
Can't remember seeing my brother watching anymore episodes after it aired and then disappeared. If there was ever some form of revival of the Jimmy Neutron franchise, I would LOVe if they reduced this to a weird dream Sheen has or outright never acknowledges it.

Wade as a normal man is Jimmy Neutron but then Nick injected it with a strange chemical and it turned into a hideos testicl-like monster called Planet fkking Sheen.

Ok there was a single moment on the show I do fully remember and it’s because it made me laugh so much. Dorkus appears practically out of nowhere and freaks the shit out of Sheen who shouts asking where Dorkus came from. Dorkus in deadpan fashion replies “My mother” 😂 I died laughing over this and I will actually will say this to people when I catch them off guard or just ask me questions like “Where did you come from??” Say what you want but that one bit from this shit wreck of a forgettable spinoff added quality to my life

Glad to see this abomination being covered and you're right Jordan, a great idea on paper, horrible execution, honestly I do think Sheen working as a double agent against a corrupt leader would've gave the stakes needed to make the show at least interesting and to make the Monkey friend of his the closest thing to Jimmy he could have and that classic dynamic that could've saved the show, but we're in the timeline where it failed hard.

Even tho this show isn't definitely not the best, I still am glad they at least tried doing something with Jimmy Neutron after it ended. At least they thought enough to give Jimmy Neutron another chance in a different perspective. From one of the biggest Jimmy Neutron fans ever, A for effort.

Apparently, they didn't want to end the show as soon as it did, (Thank God it did) but the voice of Jimmy apparently called it quits, so they had to improvise.

The main problem with Planet Sheen is that they made Sheen way dumber, like don't get me wrong he was dumb in Jimmy Neutron but he wasn't this dumb (Hell in the junkman episode when they showed their brain size he has the second largest brain after Jimmy and before Carl). Plus Sheen never really seemed to care about getting home for some reason, not caring about his dad, his friends and possible GIRLFRIEND. Yeah let's not forget Sheen completely throwing Libby under the bus for some blue alien girl despite what the main show was doing with Sheen and Libby and he never mention Ultra Lord at all you think being on a alien planet would have Sheen trying to re-enact a Ultra Lord episode or something.

I remember when this show came out, I was thinking why didn't they just bring jimmy neutron back ? The fairly oddparents had a 2 year hiatus and returned. The same could've happened for jimmy neutron. We could've gotten a season 4, nick said F that. I really hope nickelodeon revives the series. Especially with next year being the show's anniversary. Would be cool if they announce it's being revived later this year.

I remember constantly thinking Pintar was the Nickelodeon watermark animation when I first saw him. Nick's watermarks were crazy back in the day.

It's so frustrating, Planet Sheen should have been left on drawing board and gone no where. Not every show needs a reboot or a remake or a spin off. Jimmy Neutron was a product of its time and at the end of its run it would've been remembered more fondly because someone will inevitably bring up Planet sheen and the rest is tarnished.

I'm shocked the ending wasn't just Sheen wakes up asks where the aliens and monkey are, everyone being confused. And Sheen looking at the camera going it all must've been a dream... or was it?

Making a Jimmy Neutron spin-off staring Sheen is like making a spin-off of Danny Phantom with Jack Fenton failing at hunt ghosts.

Here's an idea: Instead of taking a side character from another show and throwing them into another, why not create an entirely new show with fresh and unique characters? They could have even put "By the creators of The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron" and it would have probably pulled in a good chunk of fans. I know if I had seen that I would been all for it since I loved the original growing up. This show was just lazy. In fact, I'll throw out a random idea that may sound a bit more interesting.
An average high schooler obsessed with old science fiction movies finds himself being abducted by a race of aliens who plan on sapping Earth of all its resources in order to save their own while abducting over half of the planet's population to use as slaves, exabits in their museum...and possibly food for their giant pets. However, the protagonist soon learns that it may not be curtains for them yet when he's given info by a mysterious figure that this alien race values strength above all else, and if he so chooses, can challenge their world's leader. Of course the leader figure finds it very humorous and accepts the proposal, however it is they (the protagonist) who must beat him and he only has three months. The first season would revolve around his training by helping out his fellow humans and lower alien life forms trapped on the hostile planet, ending with the final confrontation with the leader.
Sorry if that sounds very amateurish, but that's all I could muster from the top of my head.

Even as a kid I missed the jimmy neutron aspect because he was the main character cool guy, but when they made planet sheen it was nothing like the smart sci fi aspect of jimmy neutron where wacky things would happen to normal people, it was the embodiment of chaos and wackiness and gave me a spinning head wondering what i got out of the episode and when we'd see jimmy neutron return after this series... Didnt happen, I'd compare it to an era when fanboy and chum chum was real popular and overshadowed this shows slower animation

I recently had a Show Bible Creating workshop with someone from Nickelodeon who according to IMDB allegedly storyboarded Planet Sheen. After a rigorous 4 weeks of class and trainings, I think it's worth noting that if his words are taken as truths then Nickelodeon and people who worked there have this odd mindset where the show they write (pitch) must be fun to kids, and anything slightly mature and/or serial will not sell and run the risk of not being successful. I think the same mindset might've went into the creation of Planet Sheen, but I can't really say that for sure

Weird confession. I never got into Jimmy Neutron when it was big, but when this aired I'd rarely miss anything from Planet Sheen. Having gone back out of curiosity, I have no idea how I was so crazy about it, even with its short run.

When I was younger, for some reason, I always likened Sheen to someone like Joey Wheeler from “Yu-Gi-Oh!.”
Me thinking this made me hopeful for “Planet Sheen”, because I assumed Sheen (like Joey) would’ve gotten character growth and shown to be a guy with depth. I was super wrong about that. I don’t know what I was thinking as a kid.

No idea who the hell this is but damn that was the best Raids intro I've seen yet. The only moment I can think of that made me really laugh when I was a kid was when Sheen got in trouble for something so the emperor said,"I'm sorry, Sheen, you will have to be executed everyday for the rest of your life" (this one I still say to this day actually)
But everything else is just disappointing...

This show being serious could have been really interesting. I love the idea of the whacky goofball character being thrown into a situation where they have to step up.

I had high hopes for it because everyone loves Jimmy neutron. Then planet sheen came out and everyone didn't like it. The humor was very... fanboy and chumchum only worse because it's from something we know. No I wasn't expecting sheen to get character development and become the next boy genius. If anything I expected him to mature a little more and see him go from the comedic side character to at the very least, a generic protagonist. Instead he's just dumber, more... unhinged since the voice of reason is now pushed as a side character and the people around him aren't aware of his stupidity and gaslight him instead. It's like, seeing a child mess up so badly that it works. Then the adults do nothing but encourage the child to do it again only for it to happen once more.

When you take one of the most popular characters from a television series and make a spin-off series out of him/her, it never ends up quite as good because you're steeling the protagonist's spotlight.

I think the Pilot Episode being named Pilot was a pun for Sheen driving the spaceship

Controversial opinion: I didn't mind this show, I just watched it in passing and never hated it nor loved it. I thought it was fine.

I remember seeing the previews for this show, and I thought that the Carl look-alike WAS Carl, but he underwent some mutation that turned him into an alien. Like the planet Sheen went to causes humans to undergo some biological evolution, but Sheen was either to stupid to effect or some other plot-armor reason, thus making him ruler of the planet for some reason? Idk, this show just did not need to exist.

Man if nick kept the original concept of the show we could of got a story of sheen becoming ultralord and creating a paradox of the ultra lord franchaise oh well.

The sad part is, the animation itself is really good. I'm not sure if it's better than the original Jimmy neutron in terms of how the characters move, but it's honestly pretty impressive nonetheless. It's just awful that it was connected to such a terrible idea for a show.
