It’s Filmed both horizontally, but if you ever worked with placing two videos of similar resolutions within one resolution like this where it’s stacked on top of each other it will look like this. It would’ve filled the screen if they were both filmed vertically instead then you could have them side by side and not stacked

2:26 looks like they didn’t turn off the “campfire” light in time so they put a lamp in the next scene which is turned off when the campfire light eventually turns off. Pretty clever....
Definitely scripted that way for that purpose. Slight human element involved in that light so carry the lighting through to next scene, can speed or slow down by frame skipping to match the light of with the real light off. You'll notice each transition carries certain lighting elements from the previous scene to make it less jarring when the switch happens
Really really well done piece, don;t think any explanation here demeans the work, hopefully it increases people appreciation of the craft behind it
@@cockbeard that lamp does not look like it belonged in that scene. Who turns off a lamp during a meeting. Feels like they just needed that to cover up the mishap since they shot all the changes in one take
I agree it looks that way, but all this lighting would have been cued up long in advance. It’s likely on purpose, because setting it on a delay would have to specifically be done by the lighting design team.
I rewound so many times looking at that! To me this is the true definition of "bumping the lamp," and just kind of blew my mind. Whether or not it was planned ahead of time or a missed lighting cue, it helps blends the two scenes perfectly

I went to film school for 4 years and let me tell you that takes a lot of planning and team work to pull this off. Joyner is my favorite artist. but shout out to the crew on this one. Cause If one person messed up the whole thing doesn't work. I wonder how many times it took them to get it right.

This is so impressive because in the video the actual objects he has on set blends so we'll with what's green screened in and he actually interacts with it so you don't know what's real and what's not anymore. I'd like to see how they shot all the scenes that were green screened in

Standard high production process. Nothing too special. It's a camera on a track with a green screen. Someone could literally rig this set up in there basement.
The most impressive part is the green screen effects, the rig is pretty simple
