Sunmi is already a icon in Korea when she was with Wonder Girls. Her level just went up like infinity level. Listen to the trilogy of her songs Gashina, Heroine and Siren and you will know her true meaning. To many flowers is always beautiful, fragance and free. To her, Gashina was a flower on fire, Heroine was a flower lock in ice and Siren is a flower that bleeds which she said on Sketchbook of Youheeyeul show.

Tammy V well how I saw it, the video tells the story of how Sunmi is warning her younger self about the scrutiny of being famous... the song is a warning to her younger self but also to everyone around her (those who criticized her for her small and thin frame). The video features 2 prominent SUNMI’s. The Sunmi in the blue and the Sunmi that got out of the bathtub... this is to show younger, naive SUNMI (blue) and older, more experienced SUNMI (bathtub). Focus on these 2 characters throughout the video. By around 1:00 (in the music video) she basically says “let go of me, I will hurt you , because deep down, this fantasy of becoming famous is not beautiful” ... she’s warning her younger self (the Sunmi in the blue) that fame is not what you think it will be. You will get bullied for not being pretty enough, for not being tall enough, for being too thin or too fat, for not having talent etc... and that then leads to the chorus. She says “get away out of my face, don’t come closer, boy, I will not cry even if I’m sad” this is older Sunmi telling us, the people around her, to get away from her, to stop looking at her. She doesn’t want to be judged or scrutinized anymore. Then with the cry lyric, she basically is saying that the people have painted her to be this “idol” and in the years of her fame, she has internalized what is means to be famous, which is to always smile and to never show you’re weak or vulnerable, hence she will not cry if she’s sad.., it also could mean that she won’t show the haters that what they say doesn’t affect her so she won’t cry. Around 1:27 to 1:36, younger sunmi is seen running down the hall, opening doors, where she sees other SUNMI’s, each with an emotionless expression... this could show that younger SUNMI is getting a glimpse of future versions of herself... then around 1:50 SUNMI looks at these beautiful roses within a cage. This is symbolizing fame. People want her to act, look, behave a certain way. They paint her in such a high pedestal that she’s caged up. She may be beautiful, but she’s locked away, not being able to be her true self... then at 2:02, young SUNMI tries to open the cage, letting the roses free, but a siren begins to sound and she gets scared. This shows that if she tries to be herself a little bit, people start yelling at her, criticizing and scrutinizing her... there is no escape. Then around 2:31 younger SUNMI realizes that she doesn’t want to be that person, she wants to be let free so she tries to escape. But in doing so, she is met with the warning tape outside of the house... she is trapped within fame already. It’s too late. Then at 2:50 younger SUNMI accepts her fate... she is stuck within the cage that the rose was stuck inside in and she begins to dance and sing along with older SUNMI (remember the blue dressed SUNMI never once sang or danced in this whole video, it’s only at the end when she did).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but people seem to keep thinking its a mermaid theme, but I was pretty sure its based on sirens? Hence the name of the song and the lyrics? They look like mermaids but they aren't the same thing.

It’s called hair tinsel or hair bling... it was really big in the 90’s. You can order it online or have it done at a salon... you can keep it in for a 4 - 6 weeks or take it out whenever you want.
