The test results for DD’s DNA test came out! People are always asking me what type of cat DD is in the comments, but I’ll admit, these test results left me with more questions than answers!
So I guess all I can say is… DD is DD!

About 13ish pounds or about 6kilo's for DD.
They can be 20 pounds or 9 kilo's for a heavy Norweigan male.

Interesting Clair! I recently did a DNA test for my boy, Magnus, who looks a lot like DD. I also thought he was Norwegian forest cat, but turns out he's 30% Maine coon, 15% broadly Western, 20% Persian, 5% Siberian, 5% Russian blue, 2% ragdoll and 2% Norwegian forest cat, 2% Peter bald, and apparently 18% polycat.

DD sure looks and acts like a Norwegian Forest Cat to me. I think I'll stick with that. Of course, he's actually visiting our universe from his own parallel universe courtesy of that worm-hole-generating running wheel, Prof. CoCo's scientific wisdom and TT's speedy running skills -- so maybe the DNA just doesn't "test right" in our universe!

I am the prime mister of Norway. I decree the DD is a full 100% Norwegian Forest Cat. DNA results are not perfect but my decree is. I am sending the appropriate paperwork to my secretary for a full review and a certificate will be mailed to a Mr. DD Luvcat ...it will arrive in 24 to 48 hours.

Claire your videos have been an absolute blessing for me. I lost my cat last November very suddenly when he was only 6 years old. He looked identical to DD except he was grey. Watching DD is like watching my own kitty again . With regards to their ancestry, I also thought mine was a Norwegian forest cat. Then I found Siberian forest cats which I believe are similar but not actually related. My cat looks identical to those cats, maybe DD is Siberian instead? Thank you so much for these videos. Honestly most people's pet cats that the owner believes is some specific breed, is actually not that breed. Unless you specifically buy your cat from a certified breeder and therefore spent a bit a money for a purebred, any cat that looks like a purebred is probably just a generic domestic mix that happens to look similar to a purebred. But honestly the whole concept of purebreds is weird so I'll take DD just as he is.

I'm actually curious to what he actually is. because the breeds she listed she said he only "might" be. That alone makes the test she's using sound a bit sketchy to me. There seemed to be no definitive result. o.O

@@adiarainfoster house cats don't have such an extensive breeding history as dogs do, they have an ancestry that's largely unmonitored by humans and purebreds are only about 2% of the population. it's therefore not strange at all to discover that DD isn't a norwegian forest cat and they can't pin him down precisely.
