I wonder why Google just doesn't make a pocket camera. Clearly with each version of Pixel it is all about the camera but less about the phone. Making this phone pointless or just a decent second phone to carry around if you have a business phone. And for the price, no way I would buy this just for a camera.

As a 3a user, I'm still confused about the telephoto lens. However, the matte black version might pick up fingerprints very, very easily--see rubberized, old ThinkPads.
Personally, I prefer gloss to matte... as for the lens, I'd rather have a telephoto lens than wide angle...
Honestly telephoto is a great addition especially for taking pictures of notes by the teacher during lectures.
Even isn't telephoto, it's a focus one, I prefer to put a lens to tune it, at least it's zooming for real with optics

I wanted to try a new phone but this was a HUGE Step backwards
No unlimited cloud storage for original quality photos yet the max storage is 128gb? A cheap greedy way to get people to pay for cloud storage
A tremendously small battery for 90hrtz screen (despite that it can switch to 60 or not)
The forehead as well which is not a huge bother but still again a step backwards.
No ultra wide Lens but a dedicated zoom lens which could have been done better to fit ultra wide.
And to even nick pick because I work at Best Buy and I saw the phone in person, the dark mode isnβt even 100% because the messages app was still light but Iβm assuming the p3 was like that too.
Added a radar feature that the Galaxy s4 already had a proved that no one uses it, even on the video now it hardly works and I donβt see a average consumer using that.
This phone has HUGE potential and they fucked it up.
Iβm a photographer and those points that I pointed out was a huge deal breaker for me.

I just bought this for less than half it's original price. Loving telephoto, I'm not interested in the Ultra wide option in pixel 5. I'm not concerned about glossy black as it is in a case. Note: The official material case from Google is a bit slippery
@@theandrewharry The cheapest I could find it (new) was about 2/3 of the RRP (which was already relatively low compared to US) for the standard size, 64GB, in Australia. Now pretty much every seller is at least retail, even 2ΓRRP on Amazon. I bought mine about 6 weeks ago, which was a special 1 or 2 day sale.

Pixel 4XL price also had came down significantly
Bought the 4xl after it went on sale. I actually like it quite a lot, but I could definitely understand the hate for it when it was in the higher price ranges. Google tried to sell it at a flagship price without the flagship experience. It's a MUCH better fit in the mid-tier price range.
On a side note, the battery life increases dramatically whenever you turn the motion sense crap off.
For me, yes it increased, but was still horrible. The only things that killed it for me, was the battery life and 400 nits max screen brightness. It would've been the perfect phone still to this day if those were better. It's still my favorite looking and feeling phone I've ever had. I even tried pixel 6, still bad battery life and weak screen brightness. I think Pixel 5 and 5A was peak Pixel.

My perfect Pixel design would be the body of the white 4 with the front of the 5 but replace the corner camera hole with dynamic island because I want the face unlock but donβt want the notch or forehead

It's pretty bad ... And I'm a Pixel guy, last year was bad, this year is worse ... Google left the door open and I walked out (7 Pro). Not sure why they'd think people would want a thick bezel with a gimmick. And tbh if I wanted the best camera phone, I'd probably choose the new iPhone Pro, so Google doesn't even have that going for it anymore (like Marques said, the video is amazing).

I REALLY don't like it... the unlock with closed eye is harsh. I've been uneasy about Apples face unlock and am excited to think they may reinstate Touch ID and make them combo to unlock. Think about what can happen to you if you're detained. When the passcode was in your head they'd have to trick you to get it out at least. Now they can just hold you down and have access to your fucking bank account.

The regular iPhone 11 is a slight upgrade to the iPhone 10 XR. Apple is playing a total BS naming game this round. Of course its cheaper, its a lower model. To get equal usability like the iPhone 10 you go for the iPhone 11 "Pro" edition. Apple seriously needs to stop with all the "Pro" bullshit. The "Pro" moniker is relegated to something that has a professional level of usability. Apple is slapping "Pro" on basic products to make idiots thinking they are getting the best thing ever.

autobotguy i mean the only bad thing about the 11 is the screen, it has the same processor as the 11 pro and unlike the XR vs XS, it has the same ram as the 11 pro, it also has 3 of the 4 lenses of the 11 pro (again exactly the same lenses, 2 rear ones and the front facing one). Dunno why ur calling it a slight upgrade, cuz we can say the exact same thing from an XS to an 11 pro, only isheep upgrade every year, I upgraded from an iphone 6 to an X and not upgrading until at least the 12 (if they go notchless, if not, until the 13)

To be honest, I do not get why people are upset about that. It is $2 a month after 3 months of free usage. Assuming you use the phone for a year that's not even $20. You really care about $20 after buying a $1k phone?

I don't understand 4k 60fps.though. where are you gonna watch a 4k 60fps video anyways it's not noticable on a phone. And looks almost identical to 1080p 60fps. Not to mention the 4k makes any phones video less stable. Even the I phone 11 pros stabilization drops a little when 4k 60 is used.

If that was the case they would just never update it. They slowed down the ohone bcoz the a series processor used in iPhones are extremely powerful and consume power but sinxe battery naturally degrades overtime the processor's power consumption would just destroy battery even further so they underclocked the processor. They only did this with battery older than 3years. Once u replace the battery it would work just fine. And yes, its a feature u can turn off in the settings if u want from the very start.

@@snakekiller6004 nah. its resell value is greater becuase they make the software and the hardware, old phones get updated to new ones becuase they can optimise it. not with android phones since they use qualcomm or mediatek processors and they get old pretty fast. the design isnt bad, thats why theyve stuck with it for a long time. they are a trillion dollar company becuase they make a solution for a problem they created. removed the headphone jack to sell wireless headphones, glued the back glass to the chassis to charge extra to repair it, removed the fingerprint censor, so they make more expensive censors to identify your face, its just business 101. iphones and ipads aren't faster than flagship phones and tablets. they feel faster because apple owns the software, and the hardware, just like i said, since they make everything themselves, they have more control over the performance. thats why they slowed down older iphones to make people buy the new ones, and claiming "its gonna save battery life" to make it seem like they give a shit about their customers who they use as a bank.

I can see the radar being very useful when you're playing music in the car and have the Pixel 4 in one of those phone stands. Just swipe left or right with your hand in the general direction of your phone without your eyes ever leaving the road. Brilliant, even if it is a gimmick.

Same here. Decided I wanted to switch my Note 8 after a year and a half but sadly didnt get the Note 10+. My dad did and after some time I was fairly disappointed to say the least. Cool camera and other gimmicks but still same software and usability. I genuinely wonder how iPhone users don't get bored of the all new design but the same old IOS you literally had on your last phone. Guess I'm waiting for the S11 :/
Yep.. I've got the S10+ .. My plan was to get Note 10 since Feb.. Until they announced the features. And due to the specs from the announcement, I can't justify paying to upgrade for only a better battery and an S-Pen. I've always been a note guy, but depending on the S11 I'll get that, or somehow be patient enough to hold out for the Note 11.
Mark Young Yea Iβm definitely deciding to get the S11+. I definitely liked the note series for the bigger screen, exclusive S-pen and better battery but in all honesty I rarely use the pen. I have used it from time to time for serious note taking and stick figure drawings but thatβs as far as Iβll go for it.

5:30 That alarm feature turning off with the gesture sounds good in theory. however, it would cause a lot of people to be late for work or school cuz they overslept. I purposely put my phone on the ground, so that when the alarm goes off, I have to physically get up to go turn it off. LOL, I used to sleep next to my phone, and wake up 5 hours past my alarm, confused.

I have the Pixel 3. I get security updates right away. And that's a large part of the reason I own a Pixel. I also own and love a Samsung Galaxy. But the last time around the Galaxy got a security update 3 weeks after the Pixel. I have relatives with non-flagship phones that don't get security updates that quickly, if at all.

Most people are saying that the portraits aren't as good as the other flagships. But Linus did praise it. I think it was a best case scenario or maybe good lighting and luck. Idk.
Swaraj Sarkar they do have really good experience on photography and video (linus crew) so that may be why they got those results, so maybe other reviewers are more in line with what the average consumer would get.
