I actually cried after finishing this fight.
Yi Sang fighting his former distorted friend hoping he would come back to his senses
But Dongrang instead embracing his actions and awakening his ego to destroy his past
And Yi Sang finally breaking free from his birdcage as he remembers Sang Yis words, that he too has wings and only needs to spread them
I loved when both wings appear and the Duality between Yi Sang and Dongrang was displayed.
Dongrang wanted to shatter and remove his past. His wings were shattered like the relationships in his past and his past self and he never flew. He was a farmer and bound to the ground
Yi Sangs Wings are finally assembled after being broken. We see in them the Sinners. He has found a new home and new friends. He always had wings and all he needed was to find the parts and spread them. And in a way he also freed his friend with his attack from all his guilt.
As their ideals and desires clashed Yi Sang won, as his dreams are always greater than Dongrangs Desires
And this song perfectly encapsulates all the feelings. It's actually so heartwarming the whole part

I have no knowledge of the lore behind this, but a very dear friend of mine sent me this song during a really hard time in my life. It has become something of a comfort to listen to, when I'm feeling despondent and hopeless.

[VERY MILD SPOILERS]
Compared to previous Mili X Project Moon songs, I'm particularly fascinated by the way this song is _implemented_ into the game, as I haven't seen anything like it.
Most of the time, you'll actually be hearing the _instrumental_ of the song, without any lyrics. However, every time the boss fight moves to a new phase, you gradually "unlock" more verses of the song. Yet, each time this happens, the lyrics of the new verses will play _only once,_ before switching back to the instrumental version. The process repeats with each new phase.
I think that's very interesting, as it gives the song the tone of "I've said what I needed to say, no need to repeat it" which works quite well with the context of the story.

When he scored that goal.. I cried..

i know the artworks with mili's songs are usually their own thing, but i can't help but try to connect it to limbus... the star is yi sang. there are 14 characters on the ground, which can be the 11 sinners, dante, vergilius and charon. there are 2 angels accompanying the star. dongbaek and dongrang.

Watching Yi Sang take flight again as this song's final part played is a moment I won't forget anytime soon. His wings really were perfect all along 🥲

I just wanna say thank you to Mili and everyone who works on composing the amazing vocal tracks for this game and Library of Ruina. I think I speak for the community when I say that ProjectMoon games wouldn't be the same without their music and really leaves a lasting impact on the community. Please keep doing what you do best and I'm excited to see the Mili songs to come for the future chapters!

A bit of real world lore related to this:
Yi Sang was actually a 20th century Korean writer and a poet. His works follow modernism, existentialism, dadaism, etc. His most monumental and perhaps famous work is "The Wings" (날개). The story is about a man who is sick and reliant on his wife. He is very self-conscious and is portrayed as a "stuffed genius". His house is divided into two rooms, one where he stays, and the other where his wife... uh... earns money in a questionable way. He is quite lethargic and obedient to his wife, but he soon grows to question those things, and eventually goes out of his house, and goes to the top of a compartment store building, where he hears the signal that it's midnight. He looks down at the people on the streets, and wishes for his wings to grow once more.
The story symbolizes the two sides of modernity, one being the logical and cold kind of modern, and the other being the rebellious, existentialist kind. His house being divided into 2 rooms symbolizes this. Also, the time Yi Sang wrote this novel, Korea was annexed by Japan, which did modernize Korea but killed the spirit of the Korean people. The last part of the novel, "wings, grow once more, let us fly once more" symbolizes Yi Sang's existentialist vision.

결국 난.. 구인회라는 그늘에서 벗어나고 싶었지만..
끝에 끝에서 품어주는건.. 그 그늘이구나..

소금과 후추와 새와 사상경찰이라는 곡이 헌정곡으로 나오고, 어떠한 사상을 지지하고 믿는 이들의 작품들을 모티브로 여러 매력적인 캐릭터들이 나온 게임에서 이와 같은 일이 발생하는 것은 참으로 안타깝습니다.
5년간 해당 작품을 좋아했지만, 그럴 때마다 후회라는 감정이 거의 들지 않았는데 그 5년을 한번에 부정당하는 기분이 드네요.
어쩌면 이 댓글창을 보실 분들도 그러실지도 모르겠습니다.
Mili의 곡은 앞으로도 계속 좋아할 거에요. 일러스트레이터분들의 매력적인 그림 또한 진심으로 애정합니다. 수고 많으셨습니다.

1:15 여기에 나온 가사인 'A genius, perfect job, Isn't that enough? Isn't that enough?' 이 부분... In Hell We Live, Lament 에서 이상 프로필이 뜰 때 나오던 가사인 ' Why’d you curse me with “you’re a natural born genius”?' 이 완전히 들어맞아서 너무... 🥹🥹🥹

This song (and Yi Sang :)) had really saved my life when I was contemplating suicide. As cheesy as it might sound, canto 4 really inspired me to find my own wings. Only god knows how much i cried at the end of canto 4 lmao. Thank you Mili and project moon for inspiring me :)

i know it's not really the meaning, but the way it goes from "broken" wings to "perfect" wings feels like recovery, healing. accepting that you are perfect the way you are, no matter the damage or flaws. that despite trauma and hardship, you are not truly broken.
it reminds me of my own experiences and struggles. the journey to where i am now hasn't been easy, but i don't think i would have wanted it to be.

Something I noticed about the art is that there are 14 things (LCB) looking up at the star (Yi Sang) and there are 2 angels (Dongbaek and Dongrang). And in limbus, there is a story about stars crying tears
Of course I might just be analyzing but this is such a wonderful song that sounds like a lullaby (the artwork also makes it feel that way)
This is truly the IDEAL song

I relate to this song on a personal level. We may sometimes feel gloom and slothful, like we are hammered down and stuck in a situation. But we are free to make choices. We are free to fly. Sometimes all we need is a push to get us started. If we must struggle, struggle for the right reasons. Struggle so that you may fly.

thank you mili for writing for limbus company and library of ruina, your collaboration with project moon has truly created some of the most lyrically and thematically fitting, as well as musically unique and diverse, music i have heard. every song i've heard from these games has really enhanced the story and struck my heart, and every piece of music you make in general is beautiful. this song in particular really encapsulates the emotions i felt through chapter 4, so poignant and stunning. keep being great and writing amazing music, i will always be a fan!!

(헤드셋 꼈을때) 동랑은 불완전히 왼쪽만 들렸다가 , 이상 시점에선 양쪽이 완전히 울리는데
음악만으로 둘이 어떤 관계였고, 최후에 어떤 날개를 펴게 되었는지 알수있어서 무척 이상적이었음

영어로 이상이라는 단어를 해석해서 가사에 사용해 언어유희 한 게 정말 미친 듯이 좋아요…. 붕대가 감긴 날개로 날아오르는 게 이상의 날개에 대한 해석 같기도 하고 무튼 밀리랑 프문 진짜 최고다ㅠㅠ

This song really means a lot to me, ‘cause it came at a very special time in my life, and it’s almost like it fits in with everything I’ve been going through recently. I cried my eyes out to Fly, My Wings this morning, while making breakfast. I think they were happy tears, happy and sad. Sad for my lost childhood and those bittersweet memories, but so happy thanks to the realisations I have came to and the great change I’ve experienced over the past couple of weeks.
What I realised is… this person I’m being isn’t who I really am. It’s who I became out of fear and trauma. This harsh, critical, cynical, person that I thought I had to be. I try to make other people happy, especially my friends, but I forgot how to be truly happy myself. It was like I was drowning in misery, always fearing for the ominous futures, obsessed with the mysteries of our pasts… I was so self critical, and these cruel words I had internalised were beginning to project outwards, it was like I was losing the ability to see the light in the world at all. But recently when talking about childhood memories, I started thinking about the way I used to be, in my happiest memories, the very earliest ones. That talkative, bright eyed, hopeful kid who had so much love for everyone and everything, that’s who I was, but who I was never allowed to be. Once I went to school that self began to wither and die, and I… didn’t forget about her, but I forgot how to be that way again.
Today I realise that I can be that person again, it’s all in my mind, my attitude, my heart, the cages I set for myself… Yes, long ago, I was forced to be that person for the sake of survival… But now I no longer have to be. The cage has been unlocked all this time, I am the one who has been keeping myself in. Like the baby elephants who stopped struggling against the ropes, if they tried again as an adult they could break free, but they’ve long since given up trying.
So I decided to embrace that side of myself, over these past few weeks, and it’s been hard, but it’s also been amazing. I see the beauty again, in life. In a warm dinner. In a cold night. On a Sunday morning with a good book and a warm cup of tea. To dance, to sing, to listen to the daytime radio. To speak to my friends, to be around other humans no matter what we do, I love being around people. But I hated being alone, because I was always an outcast. Being forced to be by myself was always a punishment, the consequences that came because I dared to *be* myself. But it isn’t like that anymore. I have good friends who care about me and I never even realised how much, ‘cause I was so used to *being* used, that I never thought anyone could ever truly care about me. So now, I’m happy alone. I’m happy with people. I’m happy on sunny days, and on rainy days too. Not happy every day, but just glad to be alive even when things are difficult. I’m just glad to be learning, glad to be living and glad to be here in this world. Just like that bright eyed kid I used to be. She’s not dead, she’s still here. I’m still here.
Thankyou Mili, for making this song. It’s beautiful and it brings me to tears every time I listen. Even the music and artwork makes me think of childhood, so this makes me so emotional right now. Now I’ve found my wings again. I won’t hide the tears in my eyes. これが流れた時、すぐに泣いちゃった

일러스트가 이렇게 동화풍으로 나올줄은 몰랐는데 분위기가 너무 좋다....

この曲、ストーリーやりながら泣きそうになってた、4章はとにかく涙を堪えるのに必死だった。特にこの戦いの時……最高の4章だった。

Once again, Mili does outstanding research when writing their songs!
Subtle as it may be, it’s full of little references to Yi Sang’s poems.
One that stood out to me most was the faint “goodbye” being echoed during the final chorus! This seems to be a subtle nod to the beginning of Yi Sang’s poem, “The Wings” where it starts off with many strange sentences and paragraphs, each one ending with “goodbye”.
Another nice detail is the line “Kill the camellias in me” referencing the “yellow camellias” that Dongbaek is named and based off of!

It was amazing listening to this while playing Chapter 4 of Limbus Company. If you haven't already, I very highly recommend playing. Mili nails every theme and tone in these Project Moon songs, and this one is no different. The lyrics and the chorus of "Goodbye" really hits different when you have read The Wings and played up until that scene in Chapter 4. I am in love with Mili and Limbus Company more and more.

4章は凄かった。ドンラン達の希望への想いが歌詞に表れてて泣きました。それはそれとして歌詞に対して絵が可愛過ぎる！

I’m still early in Library of Ruina, got into the LobCorp series thanks to Mili. I’m terrified of getting to whatever this part in Limbus is because I can just tell I’m gonna be crying like a baby just from the music alone.

Guys did u know that there were 14 members in 'the circle of nine' and there are 14 characters in the video
Circle of nine is literary group that actually existed in Korea. So if you learn about them, im sure you'll find something new from the story of chapter 4. I love the scratchy, kind of distorted feeling sound of the piano. Like it's coming from an old recording, or some memory. It's amazing.
