- The deep dark is home to ancient cities, sculk blocks, and the warden. The key to navigating the completely quiet biome is stealth, silence, and more silence. That’s why we decided to go down there and sing our hearts out! Speaking of which, what’s that beating sound? Is it getting louder?

I mean, he's already pretty terrifying. He can essentially tunnel his way through the ground. The Warden's running speed when mad would make it pretty pointless if he could go through walls, because it's pretty much impossible to run away from him.

@@officialexistingperson4111 Nah mate. It's horror. My buddies and I checked one of the cities out, and the reckless one set off a shrieker, spawning the Warden. It followed me, and by the end of a city wall, I hear it sniff, I turn around and it's facing me from 2 blocks away.

@@Sam_50210 One time I was in an ancient city, and I was opening a chest. But, there was a shrieker next to me. When I opened the chest, it set off the shrieker. The warden spawned 1 block away from me. PURE HORROR.
The deep dark has accomplished its goal 100%, its probably the only time ive felt fear in vanilla minecraft.

Also it’s gonna scare the living daylight sensor out of me if I find out the hard way those long-distance attacks are real.
That long range attack is real, and in-game its undodgeable and rips out half your health no matter what type of armor you wear

Wow. Just… wow! This is amazing! The song deepens the feeling that humans are not meant to be down that far. Like delving so deep is breaking ancient laws of the universe.
It also proves my point. Wardens are simply introverts with sensory issues. Their hearing is so sensitive that it would be the equivalent of strobing a bright light in a person’s eyes. And if somebody came into my house and did that, I’d be pretty upset too.

For those curious, a prime example of this is with the chest:
Steve bumps Alex out of the way with his ‘smile’, but the chest closes with his line of a mouth instead.

His design doesn't change, thats just his beard being altered and moved as he moves his mouth. You can't be too detailed with pixel people so Mojang uses Steve's beard to emote his face

The Way the warden slowly treads everywhere makes it seem so much more ominous than its silly run in the game .
I quite like it's in game walk/run cycle, the way it shambles about and looks like its always on the verge of collapsing gives it a lot of character and a real "horrific monster" vibe, and the way it goes full throttle when running is unnatural and horrifying when it's coming at you, in my opinion
Seeing the warden at the end just phasing/digging through the wall then just standing there gives the idea that Steve and Alex unleashed something terrible that they can’t escape
They really put some lore into the lyrics and I’m pretty sure nobody noticed it:

Ngl the concept of the entire cave lighting up for a moment and then literal screams being heard as a blind monster pulls itself out of the ground near you is an absolutely terrifing idea that i would never have believed would be in vanilla minecraft
*granted only a small area of sensors will actually activate and you can only activate 1 shrieker at a time, giving you 3 offenses before it's finally summoned, but still
One time, I was in an ancient city and I was next to a chest. I did not notice there was a shrieker next to me. I opened the chest, and THE WARDEN SPAWNED RIGHT NEXT TO ME. Luckily, I had a snowball in my inventory. I threw it away from me, and the warden went to the snowball. Then I flew out of there as fast as I could. My heart felt like it would explode.

It’s honestly really pleasing to see an old studio like Element Animation go from making fun little Minecraft animations to being fully integrated into Mojang’s staff and producing the most beautiful features for their main events. The singing voice I also loved.
