Developed by Edelweiss, the team behind acclaimed indie darling Astebreed, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin combines side-scrolling action with deep crafting and rice cultivation. Players take on the role of Sakuna, a spoiled harvest goddess banished to a dangerous island with a group of outcast humans. As she explores the beautiful, forbidding environments of the island, she will also find a home in a mountain village, proving herself worthy of her title by harvesting rice and bettering the lives of humans. In addition to being a fresh take on Japanese mythology and a love letter to action games, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is an ode to rice and an engrossing simulation of the craft behind the agriculture.

I got my Special Edition early and was playing all weekend.
The game is so much fun and the farming part is way deeper than I thought it'd be.

@@9unslin9er Oh look, a "special" little kid we got here. Can you imagine that there is more than one game studio for each country? Some people even say that they get inspiration from other developers. It's amazing!
Graphics reminds me of Okami, fights reminds me of Odin Sphere, and rice farm I see that as a mini Stardew Valley experience to relax between two levels. All of those above games are absolute gems, and after playing it, I have to say Sakuna: of Rice and Ruin is another one of those gems

Been playing for a few daysssss. Love it love it!! Then rice planting is so fascinating (the guides on rice planting is so easy to follow!). In love with the music in the ruins!! 🥰🥰🥰 No regrets pre-ordering it

The japanese voice acting is actually very good, Sakuna actress is who did Satania (Gabriel Dropout) and Uzaki chan, i love her voice.

It doesn't have a lot of nutrients in it. It's primarily a cheap, mass-producrable caloric filler in your diet to get you energy to burn.
It's fairly healthy as those calories aren't hard to burn like simple, sugary carbohydrates, but you're not getting a lot of nutrients out of it.

I will definitely be checking this out. Yet another great indie game being released.
I have this game, i love it..and just like the devs said, it really did make me look up the real process of rice harvesting (but tbh i just wanted to know how the water fit in & how i should even use it cuz i didnt know.) Apparently the field should be flooded., then after a few days water should be let out or either just dry up naturally.
Btw that singing at 1:50 is alittle hypnotizing..

IMO this game is great. A lot of things you could complain about but a lot of those are developer design choices such as the level up mechanic. You are only able to level up at the end of the year and how much you level up is dependent on how well you raised your rice. This may seem like a bad thing but this puts a lot of emphasis on growing your rice properly, plus, each year is only 12 days long with 3 days for each season. The English voice acting is amazing; I haven’t heard the Japanese dub yet but I’m assuming it’s the same. The progression is very natural and it provides you with a lot to explore and revisit. I’m only in year 3 but I’m really excited about how this game opens up later.
