With the success of the Super Mario Bros movie, I really, really hope that Pikmin will be made into a feature length film. They could be the more charming version of the minions in a way. And if Nintendo sticks with Illumination, they would have experience animating little creatures that speak gibberish and get into antics with one another.

This is the funniest pikmin short by far.
White pikmin goes on a rampage, dust Mario pikmin, bulborb stubs it’s toe(s), and the expressions on the pikmin are just so cute and hilarious
There are a total of 4 onscreen deaths in this film, 3 being Pikmin, and 1 Bulborb.
Two blue Pikmin are killed, 1 via electrocution, the other by predation from the Bulborb, as same with the red Pikmin.
The White Pikmin is fine, as its shown that Pikmin don't take fall damage, nor do they do in-game, but in this case, due to their unique petal parachute ability. So no, I won't be counting that.
However, the number of Pikmin appear to be cut short by the end, suggesting that a large majority were lost during the collapse of the machinery.
If I assume right, additionally, the Fiery Blowhog was situated right underneath the crane, and the yellow Pikmin in that electrified formation deep within the machine. Because of the lack of distance of Olimar's whistle, and the Fiery Blow Hog being *right underneath* the crane and in a weakened state, they can be counted as assumed casualties, adding an additional 25 deaths, or 29 so far.
Though I'm not dedicated enough to count each and every Pikmin, (although I might in the future), we can easily see from a glance that there are WAY more than the standard cap of 100 Pikmin working on this sight. More like a few hundred, but not a thousand.
By the end of the film, there are 8 Pikmin standing around the deceased Bulborb, and another 22 standing with Olimar. So 30 in total.
If my assumption is correct, then HUNDREDS OF PIKMIN WERE LOST. Good lord, Olimar lost a whole playthroughs worth of Pikmin in a single incident! That machine probably flattened the poor things. You got that many Pokos, sure, but at the cost of decimating like 75% percent, if not more of the Pikmin population that he cultivated.

The reason its price is 10000000000 and 7 coins is because the crane itself is 10000000000, but in the game a bulblorb (mushroom monster) is worth 7 coins. Nice little detail.

This a great animated short, but I didn't expect them to have several brutal Pikmin deaths in it! I know it's part of the game, but seeing each of the Pikmin's individual personality in an animated short makes the deaths that much more shocking! (literally in one of the deaths)

2:01 I no longer see why it is so hard to escape the planet if they can just get some purple pikmin to launch them out of the atmosphere. If olimar or the koppaites ever get stranded on the planet again, they should try this strategy to save time.
Well since 2 purples are the same as 20 Pikmin, and assuming the captains are about 1.5 times the weight of one Pikmin (Captains can't be thrown as high as Pikmin) it would take 3 purples to bring them to Space.
