Besides Agumon I appreciate the fact they are using some the lesser known digimon as the main characters
I like how they follow the theme (for the most part) of the original digidestined’s partners but use completely different mons.

If nothing else, I love how Digimon reinvents itself with each subsequent game instead of sticking to a formula. It might not always succeed, but in doing so it guarantees that the franchise does not become stale, while also appealing to a much more varied audience than one might expect. I hope that one day it will gain broad enough recognition to match the other JRPG big names, but for now I'm just happy to indulge in yet another take on the fascinating world of Digimon.

We need more great Digimon games. The Cyber Sleuths were awesome, but too little overall considering how old the franchise is.
Next one is a Digimon Story game. Sadly Bandai Namco doesn't support Digimon that much the director at Digicon was saying he wished he could give the fans all they want but Bandai Namco doesn't show interest in some stuff
I’m kind of on the fence myself. I would love more Digimon games, but I’m also glad they’re kind of spaced out. Makes each one feel special and gives them more time to work on the games. I think this one was in development for like 3-4 years?
I actually prefer the gameplay of the Digimon Story games like Cyber Sleuth or the Digimon DS games. I still think this game Digimon Survive, has some potential and I hope it turns out well.
I still enjoy going back to Digimon World for the PS1, too
agreed, played through both. I hope this has a higher budget, plus it felt like they just filled too much witch just unnecessary text boxes.
Also for any confused who don't know about the game. Digimon survive is a game that has the player control Takuma the human partner of Agumon and have him make choices throughout the story. These text options will affect not only the direction the story goes but also how all the partner Digimon Evolve. Those familiar with Agumon turning into Greymon note that that is one of his evolution routes where as in this trailer the choices made led to an evolution to Tyrannomon.

I try to support Digimon franchise every chance I get and this game looks promising. We've been waiting for this for so long. 😤💕
I don't know why it cant be just a game thats similiar to Pokemon. Chose a Partner Digimon and go on an adventure open World. Surviving with your Partner Digimon, finding secrets about the Digiworld, fighting and lvl up with your Digimon, find food / cooking, with a damn good graphic, Sandbox maybe where you can build your own place in the DigiWorld. This game does look like: Hey i want to play it! After 2 days... hmm i play another game. You know what i mean? ^^

@@donsalvi I don't. The last time I've been this excited for a Digimon Game was back in the early 2010's when Re:Digitize was announced. I know I definitely will be playing this for more than 2 days.
I'm so glad this game is giving Floramon and Kunemon some time in the spotlight. They're among my favorites, but hardly ever appear, let alone in important roles!
kunemon is such an underated mon. loved them from DW 1 n 2.

Digimon has pretty much always had a more serious tone overall in Japan and dubs that used the Japanese version for the dub over the American version...

@@adrianvictorv 2018 it was 1st reveand it was supposed to come out in 2019 but you know, covid happened so it got delayed a few more times.
Waited almost 3 years for this. Can't believe it's only a month and a half away!! I've been a digimon fan my entire life and it's great to see yhe franchise alive and well.
The biggest surprise in this was they didn't show Agumon becoming Greymon.. that is like.. the typical evolution, nope they show one of the lesser known ones.. is nice
true but everytime i see a agumon evolve into greymon, Im usually reminded of that scene in digimon the movie. "I'm greymon now"
I know the developers said that this game was like 70% story and 30% actual rpg gameplay.
I'm fine with this, I just hope that the actual battles aren't just scripted and there's some sort of "random encounter" system when backtracking in case you need to grind some levels for the story. Im not asking for much, just for the actual battle system to feel like it has meaning and isn't just an afterthought.
You can do free battles between chapters, afaik. They should also allow you to get new digimon to use in battle.
@@Romores200 Correct the only thing Im not sure of is if you can do free battles as much as you want before continuing the story or if you run out of time and are forced to progress. This is definitely the case with bonding events for characters. Im hoping I do have grinding points where I can take the game on the go and grind to my hearts content and progress to the more time sensitive parts when Im ready. That was what I didn't like about Persona 5 and part of the reason I stopped playing it well before finishing the story. I will persevere through the game I just hope my free time grinding isn't limited.
I heard the same thing about Triangle Strategy and was skeptical about it going in, but I think as long as the story is good it will still be pretty enjoyable.

Feels like they are looking at under-appreciated SMT releases, realized a lot of its potential and are combining that potential with Digimon in a fantastic harmony.

@@MrKesnado They were more referring to the management that has been greenlighting projects. Cyber Sleuth, Survive, and remaking that one old game all show a belief in the i.p.'s ability to diversify. Rather than just sticking to a single genre/atmosphere.
(Not to discredit the creators and studios behind the actual games. They are the real MVP'S here.)

I feel really bad for this game, as its launching within a few days of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, another JRPG part of the long running series. I really hope it doesn't affect it's sales too much.
ON the same day, to make matters worse. I'm a Xenoblade fan, have a friend that's a Digimon fan, and while I'm glad we both have something to look forward to on July 29th...I wish Survive had a little more time on its own, maybe releasing on the 22nd or something instead.

Dude I'm the same I just don't have the money for both and I love both digimon and xenoblade.
I'm extremely shocked they added in game voices during combat since that wasn't in before i just pray Masako Nozawa aka Goku from Dragon Ball voices Guilmon like she did in the anime will love to hear Guilmon's OG voice again since i feel she does a great job especially for Dukemon.

@@rosethorndragon50 It doesn't seem to be a pre-order bonus. It'll just be available as a free download for a limited time starting from the release date to reward those who buy the game early. But I think Guilmon will be available in the game regardless. The gift just allows you to start with it in your roster.

@@rosethorndragon50 Yeah sorry that was poorly worded on my part. I meant I put down a pre-order for the Switch version so I could secure that Guilmon. At the time I thought it was exclusive to pre-ordering so I didn’t want to take a chance but it seems like it is an Early Adopter gift. But like you I pre-ordered it physically through GameStop (because I prefer physical game cards to digital)!

Ikr? and due to the major importance of evolution in Digimon in comparison to Pokémon (you know, the whole point of breeding a virtual pet is to make it evolve) Agumon should can evolve into its main stages in battle (Greymon, MetalGreymon and WarGreymon) that would be a very interesting gimmick. It could return to be an egg -> Botamon -> Koromon, before Agumon again, when defeated too.

Huh. It looks like you can digivolve to any of the 3 lines no matter which line the previous form is on. I thought it would be either straight or shifting 1 line at a time, but I never thought you’d be able to do bad to good to bad and vice-versa.
Also it looks like Karn was right with Tyrannomon for Agumon’s evil path. They even changed the cutscene to match! Now I’m interested to see how it looks with GeoGreymon.
I doubt Tyrannomon is Agumon's "evil path" because he is a *Data type* Digimon. I think the *Virus type* evolution line (probably *Greymon (Blue)* will be the "evil path"). Also, the other paths will only unlock *at New Game+* when you choose a different path, but you get to keep the previously unlocked evolution lines for usage and completion purposes.
@@TheInfinityMaster1 If Tyrannomon isn’t part of the evil path, then why was it shown on the bottom line? I know this is just an assumption, but I’m assuming the neutral path takes up the center line, and I highly doubt they’d use Tyrannomon for the good path, so it’s mainly process of elimination.
As for the second point (switching paths being only for new game+), I guess that’s fair, though it’s a bit odd that they’d show the branching paths when no other evolution lines are unlocked at that point. I’ll admit I’m going into this as a casual fan, and this is only the second (maybe third) trailer I’ve seen so far.
@@michaelnelson1127 Tyrannomon is not evil. It's Data. That's your process of elimination right there. Data is Neutral, Virus is Evil, and Vaccine is Good. You're putting more importance on the location than the actual attributes. Even then Tyrannomon has never been an evil Digimon and Tyrannomon was originally going to be the mascot of the original V-Pets (Digimon started out as a Tamagotchi spin-off).
Infinity Master didn't mean the evolutions are locked but you'll have a chance to fill the rest of the chart with NG+ by taking different paths than you did originally.
@@michaelnelson1127 There is footage and screenshots of Triceramon in this game. This might be what Tyrannomon turns into as in the same screenshot you see Yatagaramon which should be an evo for Falcomon. Also its not Evil but Probably Rage. Agumon glows a Red Aura when he evolves to Tyrannomon which could indicate its a rage path evolution whereas Harmony would have a green aura and Morality would have a Yellow aura. If Triceramon is the perfect stage for the Tyrannomon line the ultimate could be Spinomon a virus type Spinosaurus, DinoRexmon, A data type Theropod Dinosaur like Tyrannomon and Cannondramon a datatype Sauropod digimon with Cannons on its shoulders. It is still possible the official Tyrannomon line of Tyrannomon , Metal Tyrannomon, and Rust Tyrannomon make up this line but it has been used since Digimon world Re:digitize on the PSP and has appeared in every Digimon RPG since then so maybe this time there going more pure DIno this time. Granted Rust Tyrannomon is my favorite Digimon period so I would be very happy with it as an evolution but I have had him so many times in DIgimon games that his absence in favor of variety wouldn't disappoint me.
@@zettas1157 Oh, okay. I didn’t know the official names of the path, so I just used good, neutral, bad (evil) as stand-ins. Although I’m looking at Tyrannomon’s evolution options, and Triceramon isn’t listed as one. However, one of its Ultimate (Perfect) options is SkullGreymon, which would be a perfect fit for Agumon’s Rage path, and then into either BlackWarGreymon or Machinedramon. Yes, those ones are pretty overused, too, but we have seen Machinedramon in promo images, so it’s pretty likely.
I can’t wait to get this game.

I've been waiting for this game for so long! I hope it has a long enough campaign or at the very least, good replayability. The art style is fantastic.
70% Visual Novel and 30% Gameplay
They are 12 chapters and at chapter 8 the story can split into 3 branches. You need to complete all 3 branches (the good thing is we have NG+) to unlock the secret ending route.
The main story is around 40h and to complete everything it should be around 110h of playtime.

Since there wasn't that much plot with the Dark Ocean in the series and (tri), we are going to finally explore more into that lore with this game. The fog, screaming, also description states in not in the real/digital world. Maybe some more explanation to why Ken and Kari were sent to the Dark Ocean

During the Digimon Con, it was revealed that during battle you’ll have the option to talk with the wild digimon, and try to convince them to join your side (similar to the Shin Megami Tensei conversation mechanic). Not sure if you will be able to keep them afterwards or just during the battle.
@@gustyko8668 at the end of the trailer it says that Guilmon is a launch bonus so i'm assuming based on this that it will be possible to keep other digimon aside from the partners
