In my case I was able to go to college for free because my mom had worked there. But for those thinking it was a free ride to party Hell no! You have to attend class so it can be recorded, keep an average GPA, dorms are not free but you get like 10% off. I have a disability was to get the services they offer because even if she didn't work there I would still need the help. And if your grades start to drop because ur not going to class... well then it comes out of pocket.
I worked day and night to get into my dream college. Cried for hours over grades and SATs scores. It was so much dedication and work, yet I look at Olivia Jade and the fact she got into USC without lifting a finger... If I were her I would try to work harder to make it up to the people who are willing to forgive her. Not just say sorry and leave people hanging. People obsess over college and make a big deal when they get in. If you really want to get into a good college you will take class you enjoy and do things for your own enjoyment and not just to get into college. Not to be mean or to bash her because we all make mistakes, but this is what happens with kids who have it all. These celebrities have everything, money, spotlight, riches but they don’t know what the value of anything is. A little story...the several Musical Theater programs my daughter applied to when she graduated from High School, only accept between 5 and 8 girls PER YEAR. The particular program she wanted most, rejected her, even though she was very confident of a spot after her audition had gone so well. She cried and cried but she did get accepted into another program and though she wasn't going to the school she had had her heart set on, she was glad and excited. Besides all that, my daughter made a new friend of one of the 5 girls who DID make it. They kept in touch sharing each others progress. Now, in a BFA program, each year group stays together all the way through the program. Students seldom leave because they would have to start over from the beginning in their new program. And should a vacancy arise...well, it stays vacant. Anyway, to make a long story "little", after just a year, one of the 5 girls, who had beat my daughter out, suddenly left. Funny thing, however, no one in her class was surprised. The girl, who was a real sweet person, did not have the quality of performance as her classmates and was struggling from day one. Turns out, the head of the whole department was the college roommate of the girl's high school MT teacher, and well...we can stop there. I was talking to my daughter about it and she was FURIOUS..."MOM, maybe that girl got my spot, maybe she didn't, the point IS...she got some OTHER girl's spot!!!!!!!!!!! It's damn rotten and UNFAIR!!!! IT'S JUST WRONG!!!! And the worst part of it is this...that girl was NEVER going to make it through! She must have been miserable the whole time! A little story...the several Musical Theater programs my daughter applied to when she graduated from High School, only accept between 5 and 8 girls PER YEAR. The particular program she wanted most, rejected her, even though she was very confident of a spot after her audition had gone so well. She cried and cried but she did get accepted into another program and though she wasn't going to the school she had had her heart set on, she was glad and excited. Besides all that, my daughter made a new friend of one of the 5 girls who DID make it. They kept in touch sharing each others progress. Now, in a BFA program, each year group stays together all the way through the program. Students seldom leave because they would have to start over from the beginning in their new program. And should a vacancy arise...well, it stays vacant. Anyway, to make a long story "little", after just a year, one of the 5 girls, who had beat my daughter out, suddenly left. Funny thing, however, no one in her class was surprised. The girl, who was a real sweet person, did not have the quality of performance as her classmates and was struggling from day one. Turns out, the head of the whole department was the college roommate of the girl's high school MT teacher, and well...we can stop there. I was talking to my daughter about it and she was FURIOUS..."MOM, maybe that girl got my spot, maybe she didn't, the point IS...she got some OTHER girl's spot!!!!!!!!!!! It's damn rotten and UNFAIR!!!! IT'S JUST WRONG!!!! And the worst part of it is this...that girl was NEVER going to make it through! She must have been miserable the whole time! I wonder if the judges EVER had a thought about the girl herself?"
My view about the whole school admittance scam is this...is life only about perception...what things SEEM to be? Aren't people seeking truth and 'REAL' anymore? What's happened to honesty and fairness and doing the 'right thing' just because IT IS RIGHT?!?! When the facade of one's life is torn down, is there anything AUTHENTIC underneath?
