Also on the fight with iroh and zuko vs azula on the fire nation ship, he grabbed her by the hand, redirected her lightning like it was nothing and tossed her in the sea like she was a child. Zuko even said himself, the only person other than the avatar who has a chance at beating the fire lord is Iroh

Don’t forget that saying “fear an old man in a profession where young men die” remember when it was Azula and Zuko vs Aang and Katara and he singlehandedly defended Katara and Aang as they escaped. He broke out of prison and said he was like a one man army. Iroh chose to be peaceful, but when it was time to fight, his expertise of the craft and war experience was unmatched
All bias aside, since I love him, he’s probably rank 4-5. With only Aang, Ozai, Katara ahead I think Toph is questionable but not secure.
Daniel Martinez I honestly think Ozai should be taken off the list completely or dropped to the bottom with pakku. The only time ozai ever wom was against a kid who didn’t even want to fight him (zuko) ozai lost time zuko literally right after the solar eclipse and the only reason zuko didn’t kill him was because “it wasn’t his destiny” that’s it! Zuko beat ozai before the comet even came. Ozai even lost to aang before aang went avatar state, but once again he was spared because aang didn’t want to kill him. Ozai (in my opinion) is a joke and the only reason nobody else fought him is because they believed aang was supposed to be the one to do it. Iroh is stronger than Ozai. All that old man talk is bs because iroh is older than Ozai and still broke out of prison alone, iroh defeated dia le agents (with zuko of course) without even bending! He was one of the first fire benders to train with the dragons! If anyone on this list is slept on its iroh. Also toph, but her blindness is both her greatest strength and weakness.
Richard Jones Ozai was for sure a powerhouse, they showed this clearly when he set the earth kingdom on fire. He had dozens of strong and capable fire benders not even able to create his level of destruction. Also he is one of 3 people who can use lightning. However I think Iroh in his prime could beat him, the match up of style and personality are against him versus his brother. With his brother being top 3 in mobility, and Iroh being at the bottom of that list and maybe medium after training; inferred from fire bending flying.

What authors do in order to imply something about the strengths of characters they use highly regarded characters to make statements about how people rank to each other. The exact statement was, “Even if I did defeat Ozai, and I don’t know if I could, it would be the wrong way to end the war.” This clearly implies that it’s possible for Iroh to win it’s just more unlikely.

Aang, being an Air Nomad, would prefer peace over violence, therefore I believe he only uses enough strength to overcome his opponent and never more. Being only a teenager and defeating the fire lord without harming him is true power. The whole air bender series could’ve been 1 episode if when Aang woke up and found out that the fire nation eliminated the air nomads, remember when he ran into those sand benders that took Appa👀. Aang been had the power, the journey was just to get disciplined and control over his emotions, he never even really mastered the other elements.

Once Aang synced with the Avatar state, he gained mastery over every element because of the knowledge and experience received from his past lives. So he did end up mastering the other elements, we just never saw him have to utilize it once it happened because Ozai was incapacitated.

Jevaughn Morris Iroh entered the spirit world shortly after his son died. It’s what caused him to change so drastically from a war general to a peaceful man. There’s evidence in this when you see Iroh being captured by the earth benders in the first season (I think the heibai episode?) he sees Aang being carried by Roku’s dragon, even though Aang is in the spirit world.

I remember that one episode where Aang and Roku's dragon flew past Iroh as spirits but he was still able to see them clear as day (and was the only one). I didn't think of it much when I first saw that episode, but looking back that made me realise how spiritual he is.

Combustion man lost to sakka king bumi got on the list and would lose to people like zuko toph azula katara and iroh zuko because zuko could dodge attacks his nimbleness is extremely underrated (remember when he was the blue spirit) toph because of metal bending which is actually popular material in the show especially in the later episodes azula because she is so fast and unpredictable she could take him out of the fight before he even attacks katara because yk bloodblending iroh because the white lotus clearly acknowledged him as the leader and he was the one that had to get them into Ba Sing Se and he could probably physically block some of boomi's attacks without bending and obviously ozai and aang

@@KaiserReb Iroh would win. You're forgetting something important. IROH CAN REDIRECT LIGHTNING! Ozai shot lightning at Aang and Zuko. His lightning was redirected both times and could've easily killed him but Aang and Zuko didn't want to kill him. Now imagine if Ozai and Iroh were fighting to the death. Iroh would just redirect Ozai's lightning back at him and it would be over.

Also the only reason that Azula got that lighting hit on Iroh was b/c he was distracted at seeing Toph(someone he had met in the forest) as a part of Team Aang; Azula saw that split break in concentration and took advantage of that. IF it wasn't for that then Azula was most likely getting captured.
Tbf Azula was mentally SUFFERNG during her fight with Zuko and Katara. She was definitely not at her best.

How did my man Bumi not get higher on the list? He took back a whole city by himself. And I know the eclipse was going on, but that only lasts eight minutes. That means he either took back an entire city filled with armed soldiers with tanks and all kinds of weapons in less than eight minutes, since he started a bit after the eclipse started, or it ended and he took back the entire thing while countless troops with superior strategic positions and numbers were shooting fire. Either way, this 112 year old man took back the whole place singlehandedly and had everybody literally running away from the city. Meanwhile, all these other old folks need to get boosted by a comet or the moon to be at their coldest.
And let's not forget how he was stacking tanks filled with boosted firebenders during Sozin's Comet. He didn't get any kind of boost, unlike Jeong Jeong and Iroh, but he still was a freaking beast the whole fight. Straight up, I think he's stronger than Toph. Would peak Toph trounce him, for sure. Would it be close with current Toph, yeah. But I think he's honestly higher than her right now. I don't think she could do all the stuff he can because she's kind of more a detailed and technical fighter. She's got brute force, but Bumi got BRUTE force, know what I'm saying?
