So as you all know, I have done many frankenmakeup experiments over the past couple of years - and about a year ago, I made a mega-franken-lipstick by melting every lipstick from Sephora together - to see, roughly, what the "average" lipstick from Sephora would look like. And I've always wondered if that "average" would vary from store to store - so I ransacked CVS and bought one of every lipstick they sell there to make into a mega-franken-CVS lipstick. And then we melted down those 500 lipsticks, and made 400 to send to you all!

I keep coming back to this, Tyler says this is bad science because they had a hypothesis that came to nothing. But in science often your outcomes aren’t super exciting or glamorous. It’s important to test even if the conclusion is a little dull.

I have nothing better ro do in my life uhhmmmm if we can determine the average of the total size in cm³ times the 500 lipsticks and we compare it to the amount of lipsticks she has melted down we could estimate the lost or disposed lipstick or if we arent allowed to count the and count the final sticks we can look at the molds and estimate the lipsticks avalible that are made my guess is that she will hv 20s to 25s since around her for her molds used are somewhat bigger, my math could be incrediblely, theoretorically it shld be 300 or more if it was distributed equally but i assume it was around 20 plus lipsticks left

Fun fact: some lipsticks have a little clear part where you can see the color of the lipstick. This is usually on the bottom of the lipstick. With some lipsticks you can pop it off and use it as a lip balm.

I LOVE E.L.F. cosmetics and I used to buy them at my local Dollar Store for super cheap. Now all of a sudden they have become popular and the Dollar Store doesn't stock them any more. Thank goodness I stocked up on things like eyebrow pencils, eye liners, lipsticks and all manner of applicator brushes, because they cost a fortune at the drugstore now.

For future reference:
When making a pink, you take white and mix it with red until desired shade. Very rarely, will a color technically be defined as pink when there is a lot of some other color added. Therefore, if you can tell there is purple mixed in, it's probably not pink. This goes for purples too. Just remember what two colors are mixed to make the color your looking for, because what we define as "orange" is equal parts red and yellow, or what we define as "green" is equal parts blue and yellow. Sure, there are colors called green that may have a bit more blue or a bit more yellow, but it's not gonna be 1:4 ratio. It'll probably be 1:2 or 1:2.5 for it to still be defined the same as equal parts. Back to pinks, because pink is technically just a shade of red, just like brown is a shade of orange, the only reason a pink-ish color would not be defined as pink, is if there is enough of any other color for it to be noticeable. For example, a peach is not counted as pink because it will have a enough yellow for it to make a noticeable difference.
Not all physical color products are mixed from that simplified color theory. In particular, nature provides some nice green and brown colors that can be used as base ingredients.
