I was the stinky girl in school. It was not safe for me to shower at home so I took every opportunity I could to shower at a friends or the locker rooms. A teachers aid (who’s husband worked with the fire/police departments of our town and somewhat knew my home situation) took me aside in junior high and gave me deodorant and extra clothes while she washed mine. In my freshman year, a teacher announced to the whole class we needed to shower and I was mortified knowing it was aimed at me. Age 16-18 I pretty much lived with 2 of my friends and was never home and didn’t stink anymore. I somehow became, not popular, but the kid who’s acquaintances with every group and invited to all the parties. Teach your kids to not be bullies. The kids they’re hurting probably have a crap home life and school is the only escape from it.

Dental Assistant here. The "bump" on the roof of the mouth is actually an overgrowth of bone called tori. They can show up in other places as well like inside of the lower jaw by the tongue and even on the cheek side. The are harmles and very common. I have multiple patients a day that have them. The surgery to remove them is very painful and usually not recommended unless someone has so many or such large ones that it affects their everyday functions like eating or speaking. They usually always grow back as well. Don't worry Ryland!

One of my closest friends since middle school is a diaper adult and its been a wild and sweet journey bc I was the first person they ever confided in about it way back in middle school and to see them slowly come out of their shell about it has been the sweetest thing. It is a crazy thing I could never do myself but I am so so happy for people who have found the community that makes sense to them!

I have Misophonia too, and I have something like the Flares, mine are from the brand 'Calmer' and you have to wear them for 30 minutes before they start to work as your brain adjusts to them. They aren't that great for eating sounds, but they're great for cutting down the noise of traffic.

Shane - I am an audiologist. Earplugs are a huge hoax for both misophonia and tinnitus. Honestly the best treatment is to try to retrain the way you respond to it via sound therapy. So sorry you are going through this! It’s a tough one. I’m CO if you need any help!

I recently have been diagnosed with juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy and I have been really unwell and off work for a few months adjusting to medication to stop my Seizures I’ve been having . You got to be vocal and direct with your wants and needs, creating a habit of making assumptions is going to create the possibilities of barriers and walls going up between two people. While the habit of assumption continues could lead into bigger situations causing more confusion.
