As a former addict myself, I can verify that dignity and being treated with humanity are key when lifting yourself out. Others can do this around you as well, but ultimately, you have to do the work. You have to feel worthy enough to accept and commit to the journey of getting better. I was happy to see this video is leading with immersing Rebecca in her passion for fashion and reminding her of her own value and goals. I believe even the most seemingly hopeless people are worth helping and being given more hope. A community of people supporting and representing fashionable/fun sobriety could be amazing for her. This is a true gift.

Rebecca has no desire to work, whereas Cosmo has always been a worker.
And this it the sum of it all. You can become addicted to many things in life but if you value yourself and want to do the work and seek out resources to help you it's very possible to begin again sober with like minded people that understand your struggle and care and will support you.
If you continue to have a addicts mindset that others are to be used for your benefit and to hell with the living ... That will be your undoing.
Rebecca had a good day today but she truly wasn't aware that those people in that shop were reaching out to her while she just saw them as some new fans in her newest shop all purchases paid by Mark. It means nothing to him and that outfit won't be cherished but in all probability be cast aside, ripped up and dirty the next time he's seen waiting for Mark to buy him more...just like the "lost"

Rebecca isnt herself when shes using and shes using bc she has a DISEASE of addiction. Sometimes were not ready to get clean even when everyone else is ready. I still feel bad for rebecca bc she isnt herself. She needs to be in s mental institution to get clean and then long term rehab after. Seeing Rebecca in this setting really made me see the damaged child in her. The, "Am I safe?", the timid body language, the breaking out into song when she feels shy or self conscious. She's such a sweet, scared soul who just needs the love and open arms that were given to her in this video. I wish she understood how she has that metaphorically here, too. We aren't just her "fans". We're all here with open arms and acceptance for her, too. Rebecca needs a big sober friend group who will dress her up and do her makeup and sing with her and show her the love and happiness that drugs will never be able to give her

Cosmo is an absolutely amazing person, and a true treasured creative icon of Los Angeles. Cosmo is such the REAL DEAL! My wife and I still own every piece of art he has dressed us in. Cosmo placed her in her stunning wedding dress!! I met Cosmo about 16 years ago when I was Sunday rolling Melrose on my Harley '48 bobber, and she was dancing go-go on top of a speaker blasting in front of her store. No bullshit, Cosmo and his partners are a frigging brilliant team, they will take you as you are and highlighting the best of you. I'm straight sober masculine and more conservative that you might think, my wife is classically beautiful. When we are in LA, Cosmo is a home base stop. Take a deep breath and just follow Cosmo's creative lead. We dearly miss visiting with the LA genuine force of nature that is the fabulous Cosmo!

Watching this video after watching "Rebecca's final video" just infuriates me for Mark. I can't believe THAT is what the fur jacket started as. It's like a beautiful white, freshly groomed dog went and rolled in the mud and is now a matted brown, grey mess. Rebecca doesn't care about anything because money doesn't mean anything to them. I watched this a second time and what jumped out at me is how completely disinterested Rebecca is in meeting Cosmo’s sponsor and talking about the steps in AA. Rebecca is NoT interested in getting clean, sadly.
I saw the same thing… very sad that her drug addiction is so bad she can’t even comprehend how amazing of an experience it is to meet cosmo and be in that environment.
Thats why she started to walk away.
Sadly you can't force an addict to get help before they're ready.
This is how he really is, entitled, uninterested in anyone but himself , completely selfish & self absorbed. He's completely ignoring all that Cosmo is showing & telling him, all that concerns him is "what can he get out of it"

Yes. It was a brilliant idea.
Anyone who's a drag queen or FH has probably been waiting since day one to see Rebecca with other gays who can match her energy and know what she's talking about. There's a whole culture around the drag community (which is different from trans , but it sometimes crosses over) and the ones who know about it are probably thrilled to see her in her element, finally. It was a much more strange interaction watching her talk to Uber straight Mark all these years. This, this feels like home, feels like belonging, and I know Rebecca has to be feeling that. I hope it gives her enough peace to kick drugs, because drugs did use to be a big problem in the community, especially in the 80's. I feel like all the old queens are trying to get away from that now, at least the ones I know. (I imagine this is strange for others who aren't used to it, though. It's a whole other community with its own culture)
@@cocobutter3175 I watched the video last night. Earlier today I was thinking about the many comments I saw here saying 'this is not normal' and that it was so weird or so exhausting. Where others were exhausted, I was energized. Mark provided an opportunity for viewers to see Rebecca speaking and being understood - and doing what it is she is good at. She was having fashion / creativity conversations -- unlike here where so many of the viewers say 'whaaaaaat? It's all gibberish!" Sure this is 'home' in the drag world, but also - I was thinking that these types of interactions go into the way musicians, actors, models and other entertainers become clothed and adorned to appear in the media that so many straight (and some homophobic, transphobic) viewers consume regularly. There needs to be more awareness around the creative process of fashion and that it IS a viable career for those who are drawn to it. It is a VERY meaningful form of self expression and communication in media. It has relevance, power and livings to be earned. This shopping visit also looked more 'normal' to me (other than seeming an exceptionally fulfilling introduction and group creative "jam" worthy of celebration). I try to remember I've had so opportunities many have not - I've spent time and worked with drag artists, art school fashion designers and creative artists in a variety of disciplines much of my life. So many are written off because of interests in creative fields, and also of course due to sexual orientation and gender identity. Put those together and a lot of buttons get pushed - why? Maybe the toxic masculinity in Western Culture that so many of us were raised with. Boys get boy toys, girls get girl toys, freak out if Johnny loves the Barbie. That sort of baloney. The way everyone in this store just loved and embraced Rebecca is so touching. Especially after seeing some reactions from people in other stores she has gone into. The energy in this place is so wonderful, I feel like I would just want to hang out here with these people all day!
