NPD Third Route To Leh Opened: The Himalayan Frontier |

- Ladakh: The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has made a pathbreaking breakthrough in opening the Nimu- Padam-Darcha (NPD) Road. This 298 Km road connects Manali to Leh through Darcha and Nimmu on the Kargil -Leh Highway. In this livestream replug our travel along the NPD Road and highlight its significance. We document India's infrastructural push in Eastern Ladakh to deal with Beijing's aggression in the border dispute along the China-occupied Tibet border or the LAC.
Alternate axes are significant in also dealing with the Pakistani second front in Siachen and from POJK. The route provides critical connectivity for defence logistics to and for civilian development around the Northern China-occupied Tibet border or Line of Actual Control (LAC), the Line of Control (LoC), and the Actual Ground Position Line (AGPL) in Siachen with Pakistan.
It is shielded from both the India-China border and the frontier with Pakistan, unlike the other two axes. A StratNews Global team of Amitabh P. Revi, Rohit Pandita, and Karan Marwaha travels along the road, during the fourth winter of India's forward deployment post Xi Jinping's aggression that led to the deadly Galwan clashes in 2020
In 'The Himalayan Frontier, Part III, we travel from Manali, through the Atal Tunnel under the Rohtang Pass and drive on the Nimu-Padam- Darcha (NPD) road to Leh. In the next episode, we complete our journey to Leh on the strategic third, alternate axis to Leh. In the third episode, we speak exclusively to Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, the Director General, BRO at Chiling on the frozen Zanskar River. This is the exact point that the NPD connectivity has been made.
Editor's Note: This series first aired in January and February 2024.

Amitabh Revi is cooler than ever in the Ladakh weather
Much kudos to BRO, IA, IAF and govt
'Bharat Mata Ki Jai ' , Long Live Indian Army with BRO. Congratulations to BRO in India.
Those who say that Chinese infra in Tibet is way better than ours need to understand the difference in topography between two sides. The quality of roads on More plains demonstrates the kind of infra that GREF can build if it has to build on a plateau.
Excellent presentation. Extraordinary piece of work of both the documentary team and the BRO personnel. Lt. Gen. Raghu appears to be an intellectual with great gusto and drive to accomplish what the country needs at the earliest .Another proof of the government's knack of finding and finding the best man for the job like minister Ashwini Vaishnav for Railways, Nitin Gadkari for National highways etc.
BHARAT MATA KI JAI
Great news for travelers and many more thanks to our BRO and army .we solute to them. We are alwsys stsndby our heroes ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Excellent video and commentary.Engineers of all kinds should view this video. The sheer beauty of the place and spirituality that is in this region. Congratulations to the BRO for building roads in this difficult terrain and the people involved in this BRO,the Army ,Air Force and casual workers.

Thoroughly enjoyed these episode. India has come long way by developing road facilities in once underdeveloped area of this. During 1986, while sitting at Palchan I couldnot have thought about. Long live आत्मनिर्भर भारत❤🎉🇮🇳🙏👍🙌

Superb presentation, extremely proud after seeing the extraordinary development in that strategically critical part of India.
Thanks a lot to making such amazing documentary ❤
👍🏾 @shobhitagarwal9321 glad you liked it
Yes ,it is the way to say it Chinese occupied Tibet
Hugh respect, from Canada !!
Excellent video. Being a ex force person, and staying in J&K , I have special interest about the topography of Himalaya. I can say that in last 5-6 years India progress about hill road / bridge / tunnel phenomenal, all due to the personal support from our PM Narendra Modi who regularly monitor the progress. To combat China India should have strategic road development. My salute to BRO for their yearlong dedicated support to the people of J&K, Himachal and Uttarakhand. I love my country
Thank you so much everyone who were and still are working on this project .,
God bless you all 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great video! The border roads officers, engineers and workers are our unsung heroes working in extreme conditions to make roads in inhospitable terrain. Many have sacrificed their lives. Next time we drive for holidays in the Himalayas we should pay them a tribute, spare them a thought... Respect 🙏🇮🇳
Amitabh, you are doing a great job.
I have known you since my teenage when you were in NDTV and now here I see a tremendously talented person fulfilling a unique job of being Military journalist with perfection.
Keep it up.
Exhilirating, and comforting at the same time, knowing that the government is beginning to take the security and development of our mountain areas seriously.
Amitabh ji you are handsome with amazing voice...your work is memorable ❤

I have experienced Rohtang on my bike before and I can say that Rohtang Pass is one of the deadliest passes in the world... The weather is unpredictable and really harsh throughout the year and those bends man it was scary af...Atal Tunnel is a big relief to us..❤❤
Great respect to all, the armed forces and BRO n CPL. Hats off to Amitabh sir and team for bringing ground reality. Amitabh sir narrates it so welll.thnks so much for the efforts🙏🙏🙏
🙏🏾for taking the time to post your thoughts @dontbecoward5302
Fantastic as well as very informative ❤❤❤
Real hard work, I really appreciate
Quality is top notch expecting more video
Amazing, goosebumps, choked throat experience. The awe inspiring Himalayan terrain, with unearthly grandeur at every turn, is matched only by the unbelievable courage, dedication and expertise of this elite organisation. ONLY the BRO could do this, no doubt with the stout backing of their brethren in the Indian Army and Airforce.
Kudos to Amitabh and the SNG team for documenting this truly epic journey and project.
Jai Hind 🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

I traveled on the "road" from Leh to Srinagar during the night , some years ago, in mid October in jeeps convoy: it was the last convoy before closing during winter . Already a lot of icy track and some places with snow. We had a very good ladakhi driver.😮
🙏🌹ராதே.. 🙏🌻ராதே... 🌝🌚🌍
Excellent coverage. Only one suggestion for future improvement, when a speaker is explaining on the ground by indicating various routes or cliffs etc the cameraman should swing the cam in that direction. The commentry can go on in the background, and viewers can see things that are being explained. Here, the intelligence of cameraman comes into play.
👌👌👌👌👌🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍🇮🇳
Thanks for your contribution on this issue. But what is about Kargil just one kilometre from POK please make a video on Zojila pass also🙏🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Quality documentary

Hi..Is it motorable till leh .. Thanks for the adventurous video & update..It's quite interesting & adventurous for off-road lovers..
Visited this stretch kargil -Padum and back to kargil and Leh in 2000 summers and it was an unbelievable scenic trip, hope you managed to see Nun Kun Peaks in this stretch..😊
The importance of border infrastructures is immense which had been neglected by former governments for decades. And then Modi ji comes to power and realises the importance of border infrastructures in Northwest and northeastern bordering states. The pace of development under Modi ji is taking place in proposed time is the reason to vote for BJP😊❤🙏
Well, it was already opened summer 22 as I travelled through it at that time (to Padum)...
Great Achievment of BRo and Bjp Govt
But shinkula tunnel work not started..... 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
will soon. and when it’s ready we will put up another documentary like this 😊@ashutoshMishra-yb8md
@@amitabhreviHello Handsome Amitabh ji 🙏
noice
If some of the video had been shot during the day the visuals would have been amazing.
Are those stones usable in the Road building??
I hope a documentary on 1999 war in the Batalik sector from you channel 🙏
is the voice oxford or queens english!??
Mahindra suv is the papa of hills Road
So the route is not currently open as of April 2024. Google maps shows no access.
From when can general public of Ladakh move on this road sir ?
@Ladakh15 the NPD is open to all of us. And is being travelled on. In the words of the chief engineer Col Vikas Gulia, “So many you tubers are commuting already. Last year we carried out rescue for even foreigners.
We dont let civilians travel towards uncut stretch to avoid any injury/casualities.” now the npd road is cut from niraq to chiling. it will be a shorter route for all of us. give them some time. it will be a black top road too soon. and when the shinkun la tunnel is built by 2026, we will do another documentary🙂
@@amitabhrevi no sir ,
On the one , which is connected recently on 25th march 2024
@@Ladakh15 the breakthrough through the range happened on march 25. once it is safe it will be open to us all
Both the driver and front passenger are not wearing seatbelts 9:25 . Please wear a seat belt. At least being an Army person you should follow the rules and give a message to the younger. generation.
totally agree @thelazyplayer
Train from Srinagar to Leh groundwork should start sooner.
I didn't realise this was a repeat posting until mid way through the video. But thanx anyways Amitabh.
I hope you can make a video on the fourth axis into Kargil from Jammu. BRO has already completed surveys on that one.
I am talking about the Jammu - Ramban - Shudh Mahadev - Doda - Kishtwar - Padum - Chilling - Nimmu axis.
I am also tempted to talk about two other road axes from Jammu/ Pathankot into Kishtwar. But that probably is for another day.
That said, I still wonder why these much needed road alignments are not clubbed together with parallel railway line projects ( wherever feasible ) ? Am I missing something ?
thanks for all the possibilities we could cover in the future. Will file in my head for reference! @atulmalhotra2303. we replugged this on the day npd was opened. apologize if you misunderstood. we put replug also in the headline to make it clear. + yt gives this possibility for us to play all 3 episodes back to back for those who haven’t seen them apart from them still being there separately
how did you do the map animation
😊the team did it @just_another_vlogger07
Lose the elevator music, please. It seriously detracts from the quality -- it would be so much more effective to just see the stark and silent beauty of the mountains and hear the wind.
BRO ENGINEERS should be given salary hike. They are no less than soldiers.

it is very dangerous work @JOY034

Why release vital info to media ?
Because the govt. Show a strengthening power of the nation to enemy.
what vital info? @arajananbittapu8204 ? all is open knowledge. nothing confidential or sensitive. @stratnewsglobal is very careful about that. just the eyes and ears for those who haven’t been or heard of these locations
music is so annoyng..😮
Safety aur Rules gaya tel lene inko bas documentry banane se matlab hai....

Don't know how these people can make such a silly mistake it seems as if these people are sitting in a car for the first time.
consolidation of old vids and added clips,... this is old
The strategic military value of these large investments is lost to me...given swarming AI drone technologies there will be no point in deploying brigades of human soldiers. It will be more efficient to spend this money on AI swarms of armed autonomous drones that can be deployed ubiquitously in Aksai chin. All this tax payer investment has to be recouped by getting more tourists to drive these highways by paying national park entrance fees and tunnel tolls. It will be even more valuable after BJP fulfills it's promise of bringing back POK. These are some world class vistas and scenic drives. Hopefully we can all one day drive from India to western China and Tibet through the Karakoram Pass.
Not sure how this woman got an academic position. Her views are so biased and her information in so wrong.
BRO is incompetent. All they do is blast riverside valleys and apply a thin layer of tar. They need to study how to build roads in Himalayas from chinese. Chinese has been building roads right upto our border posts everywhere since 1950s. They are excellent and dont require maintenance every spring like bro built ones. BRO is just good for placing funny signboards along the shitty roads they build.
Did you watch the whole video? The Tibet part has flat terrain and very few mountain ranges. There is no rain or moisture in that part, which is the enemy of tar roads. So first, learn some geography and topography before commenting so.ething stupid.
@@myjourney6510 Mind your language first. I've been a consultant on many road projects in Ladakh and HP for the last 12 years. BRO doesn't know how to build roads in the Himalayas. Neither does NHAI. It's a shitshow. The new DSDBO road is a maintenance nightmare. Heck, there is no alternative route to Kinnaur and Lower Spiti since independence. BRO couldn't solve the infamous Mulling nalla till date. BRO roads don't have proper drainage, netting and arrestors. BRO just widened age old mule tracks and tarred them. This incompetent institution is the biggest enemy of Indian army in the Himalayas.
