On today's episode of Car Trek, AutoTempest challenged the guys to see if their "cheap" exotic car purchases are actually any good, by getting a trade-in appraisal at Mclaren Palm Beach. CarMax ain't got nothing on this!
Tyler's Ferrari 360 is just as rough as ever, Freddy's Aston Martin V12 Vantage shows its questionable build quality, and Ed's Lamborghini Gallardo has its "custom" diffuser tape on full display.
Afterwards, they are challenged to do a bit of local sightseeing, and things don't exactly go as planned. Oh boy...

You always have to take in consideration that a dealer buys to sell. He has to calculate the risk of buying a used exotic. He cannot check everything and it is very likely something will break on these cars.

Because they are trying to be Top Gear. Did I miss something? Is this just a joke as to how similar this is to Top Gear? I'm not terribly familiar with these guys, but this doesn't feel like what they would do necessarily. It really bothers me how scripted this feels though.

No, they just usher them to get them off the road. They know if they're trespassing or not, and they can easily arrest them if they present an issue. I've had a friend who tried doing the same thing; except he was in a Toyota. He got away with the same thing - he was able to drive up to the front where he was *kindly* asked to leave or be sent to the slammer.
If you’re invited in, you can’t be arrested. Well unless you refuse to leave.

Just head over to autotempest.com ... although I tried finding my first car on there, a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-X that I bought for $3,200 at the time and the results were less than appealing

I have to be honest guys. I was very sceptical when you first announced this series, I thought that it was going to be a cheap rip off of Top Gear, but this has exceeded my expectations! I really do hope you make a lot of these in the future!

There’s a difference between trade in value vs appraised value
Yeah you can literally buy a used car at the dealership and try to trade in the same car without even moving it and they will offer you like 30% less. You always make huge losses over the actual value if you trade it in instead of selling it on your own.
The Lambo should have had a floating key ring like what you use on your bass boat.
