Born in Moscow on New Year’s Day in 1991, Anna Geniushene made her recital debut just seven years later in the small hall of the Berlin Philharmonic. She has since developed a diverse and versatile career as an artist: performances in major world venues such as the Town Hall in Leeds, National Concert Hall in Dublin, Museum of Arts in Tel Aviv, the Konzerthaus ‘Neue Welt,’ Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, and Sala Greppi in Milan; a dedication to chamber music, including duo piano repertoire with her husband, Lukas Geniušas, and close collaboration with Quartetto di Cremona; and the creation of her own festival of collaborative music-making (NikoFest).
During the pandemic, Anna’s penchant for creativity manifested in online projects, such as a series of online recitals for the Vancouver Chopin Society, participation in the “Armchairs Season” of the Moscow Philharmonic, and recording sessions for the ConSpirito music channel on KRplus. Her debut CD was released on LINN Records in March 2020.
A laureate of major international piano contests, she has had strong finishes at the Leeds, Tchaikovsky, Busoni, and Dublin Competitions. She sees her participation in the Cliburn as a “dream,” as an “opportunity to be part of a very friendly community, to find a new audience, and to challenge myself.”
Anna graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 2015, and completed her Master’s with Distinction and Advanced Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music (London) in 2018. She has also been one of the elite Bicentenary Scholars at the Academy under the tutelage of Christopher Elton. - 음악

how she is able to play for a competition while pregnant is simply superhuman. pregnancy forgetfulness and hormones does not affect her in any way or form.

I think it takes so much courage to program Beethoven's bagatelles for a competition (and no, they are not "easy children's pieces" like some people seem to imply)
Why would she need courage as a trained professional pianist
And she played them with such lyrical humor; just delightful! She's a musical artist, not just a digital technician and for me it's about the artistry, not just the dazzle.
Jo Jo Wisa because she might take some heat for programming music that isn’t main stream competition pieces and for music that is perceived as simpler. These bagatelles aren’t easy however…..
To be honest, she played them really well for a competition. I am a big fan, but despite this I found her interpretation boring, but, I understand why she does it; she knows how to play for the judges.

Les Sept bagatelles, opus 33 pour piano sont publiées par Ludwig van Beethoven en mai 1803 au Comptoir des Arts et de l'Industrie à Vienne. Wow, Anna is an exorbitant player. Wonderful playing and way ahead of the other very talented contestants in my humbled opinion. I am not sure but it looks like she is pregnant, what reminds me on my former professor Marta Sosinska, who won 3rd price in 1965 at the Chopin Competition (Argerich won 1st) when being in her 7. month of pregnancy.
I’m really interested to hear more about Sosinska! What was it like to study with her?

I’d like to know why the piano is out of tune! They’re supposed to touch up the tuning in between contestants.
I hate to compare with anyone ... but I recommend to compare Lim's Bagatelles .. It is a very fabulous experience !!
What for? For comparison? Oh no .. We are playing it differently and in different circumstances :) nevertheless, it is very interesting to learn from each other's experience :)

She's a true musician who can tell a compelling story, unlike the Korean pianist who has marvellous technique but little to say.
Maybe to you. But to millions around the World, the "Korean" pianist who won is being hailed as the new Horowitz. True musicians are a dime a dozen, but a true genius like Lim are 1 in a Billion...
The little to say pianist had moved the world, esp with the iconic Rach 3 that it was listed as one of the best arts in 2022 by NYT. I was never moved to tears from concerts but that particular concert had moved me to tears. If there was little to say, surely I'd feel nothing.
