The original Five Nights at Freddy's spawned many sequels and sister games. Over the years I've played them all and through that stumbled upon the phenomena that is FNAF fan games. Games so loved by FNAF fans that those games have ALSO created their own universes - some linked to the original game and some all their own. These games have gotten so big that it's a wonder they haven't been struck down by the copyright powers that be - and there is a VERY specific reason they haven't. This, sadly, reminds me of the Knights of the Old Republic remake that was a massive undertaking by fans for many years. And then, right before it was almost finished, Disney caught wind and pulled the plug. It was devastating.

I also feel like one of the reasons why Scott is okay with fan games and other big corporations are afraid of them is because big corporations see the individual characters as what makes their game unique. While Scott seems to have the idea that the story is what makes the game and what allows him to build his games and even help fan games flourish

This is why I love becoming a part of fandoms! It’s crazy that one person or a team of creators can affect hundreds if not thousands with their own work and have fans create things to show their appreciation. The fact that one game or show can inspire people to create their own games, art, music, theories and such gives me all the warm fuzzy feelings!!!
Honestly I think that has a great deal to do with his upbringing he too was a game developer who is games originally didn’t go anywhere and since he sees potential in these games actually gaining traction and going somewhere he’s more than willing to help people achieve their goals which is awesome I swear to God he is one of the most generous game developers I’ve ever seen like bar none also the fact that there are multiple fan made Pokémon games and Phil made Pokémon fanart and none none not GameFreak nor Nintendo they don’t take that into consideration at all ever, it really grinds my gears man

I have always been a HUGE fan of fan art, fanfic, etc. If I have recently watched something new and love it, I immediately want more. I go to Fanfic and DeviantArt, and I applaud them. My brain goes ninety miles an hour coming up with fanfics of my own [I literally have a journal overflowing with ideas I haven't even written yet! I just wish there wasn't always this looming threat to tear it all away. For me personally, I don't do it for money, I do it for entertainment purposes only. Because I love the original content so much, I don't want to leave the world, the characters, the experiences. I love just love fandom

Oh, also, if you want an example of an indie dev doing the exact opposite of what Scott is, I recommend looking into Yandere Dev, who, to abridge, has become a power hungry maniac who actively threatens and slanders people and groups trying to make fangames on account of the fact that he is literally never going to complete Yandere Simulator. Sounds like Scott isn't forgetting his roots and his struggles as an indie. And that's the greatest thing, turning his success around and helping many others who are probably in a similar situation he used to be. Two things. One, this goes to show how nice of a content creator Scott is. He's probably the nicest one, cuz NO other company or person has ever made this kind of move. Two, what's sad is that only two (and I think three) of those plans for future fan games actually happened. Candy's 4 got cancelled and I haven't seen anything about a new installment of The Joy Of Creation. :(

Reminds me of Pokémon Brick Bronze :(
For those who aren’t aware, Pokémon Brick Bronze was a Pokémon fan game made in Roblox and it was actually really fun. It had its own stories and characters and although it used similar Pokémon from past gens, it made its own story and environments
Yet Nintendo sought to shut it down. The developers (from what I’ve heard) have been forced to remake the game under a new name, Loomian Legacy, and it’s still just as amazing as PBB (it even offers a cameo of a PBB character, Jake), but it still sucks. Because these people who loved Pokémon so much they made their own spinoff of it got shut down. I’m glad that they remade it in a new way, but I’ll always miss PBB and always be disappointed in Nintendo for putting down someone who was only a fan of the games
I loved this, and I always played it with my brother. We were on the same gym, until they deleted it. We were crushed, hours after school wasted. My brother and I quit Roblox, but I had returned in the last year to my delight, there were spin offs. But the problem was they got deleted whenever you got progress. Hey guys if you could be so kind to answer a couple questions for me. I haven’t watched this video yet and I’m watching his videos again up to one of the fazbear fright books.
Anyways it’s said that fazbear frights was a replica of the original location which means it was built somewhere else but was made with the same design right ? (That’s my first question)
My second question is, if what I just asked is true, how did spring trap get moved from the original location all the way to a building surrounded by a theme park ?

Yes, Frazbear Frights is in a different location and uses the same design as the original place.
From what was said, Springtrap was transferred by vehicle. Since Springtrap is still technically human, he could've just as easily pretend that it was just a suit that isn't active anymore.

Really I also think it's amazing that Scott hasn't taken all us SFMers down yet. We make so many OCs, (you know, you've played Animators Heck) and we all have our own takes on the Fnaf story, we make our own stories using these characters and I think it's great Scott let's us do our own thing with his characters.

If you grow up in Germany, you definitely grow up with the original tales. My parents read them to me and my brother and today my friends who have kids read them to their children. The Disney movies usually come later, when the kids are old enough to watch long movies.

Another great example of the "embrace extend" thing is undertale, there are thousands upon thousands of AU's, fanfictions, and fanart of that game, and toby fox has let it all happen, if anything, he encouraged it to happen.

Another example of a gaming company taking in fans to be part of their work: Hoyoverse, the company behind Genshin Impact, actually hires fanartists as official illustrators for the game, be it the game itself or promotional art. Now, they do things that ARE scummy and/or creepy, but I think that aspect of their company should be appreciated.

As an avid Pokémon lover since the early 2000's, I can't tell you how right you are. I always get so excited to see Fakémon or Pokémon videos, even fangames only for Nintendo to shoot us all down like a warzone.
Ask anyone in the Pokémon community and they can tell you it's like permanently walking on eggshells and broken glass.
