On the topic of Subnautica, how hot would the thermal knife have to be, since it instantly cooks any small fish it hits

Not sure unknown worlds did any science regarding the thermal knife.
I assume it only cooks the flesh around the area it hits
Assuming the Thermal Knife is constantly active (seeing as how the player does not use a button or any of the sort), how it instantly cooks fish with one swipe underwater and how little surface area it has and is STILL able to cook a fish fully, THAT Knife needs to be EXTREMELY HOT. This begs thr question of why isn't the water, the Knife is in contact with, boiling like crazy. AND ALSO, HOW DOES THR PLAYER KEEP IT IN HIS BAG?

A human is violent by nature, so when that second answer is true we have a coin toss, 1) an inherently violent civilization that justifies violent actions so it can take our planet. 2) we have a nice peaceful species that WE take advantage of, sure we settled "equality" long ago but that was extremely vague and only helped on the extreme level, if we found an intelligent civilization with EXOTIC RESOURCES we would build a zoo, mine the planet, enslave the people, EITHER WAY!... Covid is nothing like Kharaa. Kharaa is a bacterium, Covid is a virus. Kharaa seems to spread via water and cysts while Covid spreads via droplets. Covid has a roughly 2% death rate (which isn't saying it isn't bad, so far it has killed about half as many people in the US as americans were killed in WW2) while Kharaa seems to be much, MUCH more deadly

I think it only counts as behind us once we conquer large distance space travel. Since the point is we can’t detect or contact other life forms.
I did always consider that maybe we cant find other life because we truely are the first. We ARE the precursors. We just showed up to the party too early and are now sitting around awkwardly on the sofa waiting for others to ring the doorbell.

The idea was that the organisms in Subnautica are what exterminated the previous life forms, and he really spent most of the video explaining the real-world mirror of that while explaining the title of the video. It was just a "Hey, Subnautica has a point" kind of video, not really meant to be a deep dive into the game. Pun 100% intended.

i mean, that's 95% of what this channel is, its either riding the hype or payed to generate it.
more and more the theories have less to do with the actual games, sometimes making up or ignoring stuff in the game just to work, or taking a bare bones look at a games concepts, and then comparing that to real life. using the name of the game for clicks only, and the made up theory/topic as the content and its more about some real world thing then the game that apparently spawned it.
That's pretty much all Austin videos.

@@Lambda_Ovine, maybe. But, this one really felt stretched. Like he was only including subnautica so that he could ride the hype and put this on game theory. It didn't really seem to have much at all to do with subnautica.
My favorite solution to the Fermi paradox is that, given the evidence of how stars form and the fact that our star is actually kind of old for its type, that the reason we don't know where anyone else is, is that there's nobody out there yet because we're the first. Or at least, we got to "space faring (sorta)" first. We *are* the Elder Race.

The Fermi Paradox, as it is represented today (or in this video), was not actually posed in this way by Enrico Fermi, nor was it a paradox. Fermi actually took the absence of signs that aliens have visited Earth as a sign that interstellar travel is not possible/desirable, not that alien civilizations are rare. The Fermi Paradox and Great Filters are also not concepts that are taken too seriously by astrobiologists, as SETI has so far only surveyed 0.00000000000000006% of the observable universe, so it is incredibly premature to make any conclusions from that that alien civilizations are absent, as we have barely begun looking.
But then again, the great filter have alot of points in it because we as humans is the only species that have an inpact on earth

So the places were we are able to find life without distance limitation are way more explored than 0.00000000000006% (it whatever)
Yhe Fermi Paradox is still an interesting thought exercises though. Yes humanity have only been searching for a few decades, and scientists have only looked at a very small part of space. But that doesn't explain why Earth hasn't been visited/colonized by another alien civilization.

It kind of depends. Life is bad and intelligent life is worse. Even worse is ruins of highly intelligent aliens that hundreds of years ahead in technology. The more technological and intelligent aliens the more likely that we aren't past a great filter.
