No language is easy then, as every one has their own slang variations. However, if you look at the standard variation, Indonesia is among those with the most straightforward structure.
Someone pointed out to me that affixation is the hardest thing about it, but even it is pretty simple, if you compare it to affixation in English.
Also, bahasa Indonesia doesn't recognize tenses the way English does, is not too complicated about plurals (you just say the words twice or add plural markers), doesn't have gendered nouns (for the love of God, I wouldn't be able to remember the genders of nouns in German), etc.

@@lucthenerd Yes, I know. There's no languages that easy to study, I myself still have a hard time understanding Bahasa Indonesia. But it's really fun to know their way of expressing their languages by mixing their own regional languages and their main language:)

@@basrengpedas I'm Javanese and I've often been surprised by how my friends and coworkers say what I recognize as Javanese words but they recognize as just bahasa Indonesia words. I dunno if those words have come into bahasa Indonesian vocabulary or they're just too commonly used. Understandable, since Javanese is the majority ethnic group.

@@bagas5945 Exactly! I studied English and I love linguistics, so I've sort of compared what I know about languages vs. bahasa Indonesia. Bahasa Indonesia is by far the simplest language that I know of. Structure-wise, pronunciation-wise, spelling-wise.
Btw, I would hate to have to remember all the genders for the nouns in German. That alone put me off German, so I'm legit just trying to lazily learn Korean thru dramas and shows and KRplus right now.

I'm Javanese, born and raised in Central Java. I think it's the hardest language I've ever learned; it's like several languages put together. Korean language has politeness degrees like Javanese does, but as they mostly have to do with affixation they're not supposed to be too hard in comparison.
Even within Javanese language, there are variations, what you call dialects. I live in a town whose approximate distances to Yogyakarta, Semarang, and Purwokerto are similar, but the Purwokerto dialect often gets lost in translation for me. Other Banyumasan dialects are pretty foreign to me as well. We share most of the same vocabulary of the language, but there are clearly a lot of differences that make either dialect mutually unintelligible. That's within Central Java, once you go East it's more mutually unintelligible.
This is the same case with Korean standard and satooris.

indonesian mostly (jakarta & big city) using slang and unformal bahasa in daily speak, is great she teach dave the formal one... cos if u typing using slang is more harder to translate, even indonesian not typing word based on KBBI

For me people who are from jakarta, tangerang or "yang sudah terpapar lifestyle jakartans gaul" speaks really fast indonesian. Different from other region who speaks indonesian normal or slower tempo.

to the point if i or other do not speak fast i felt stuffy and frustated, now that i moved to another city with another languange... ah... people here speak fast with their own language and now i felt so lost lol

yeah. i love indonesian language because its easy to use like you can use every vocab to make a sentence. theres no past/present/future that for me its really hard to understand.

Yeah it really pretty. I have been to Raja Ampat and it's really beautiful to dive there. I also have been to Jakarta and it traffic jam is really troublesome. Btw my local friend told me that the best time to visit Jakarta is when there is national holiday called lebaran and the traffic jam is no more.

@@catlover4357 It is, actually lmao a lot of Indonesians are protesting of the relocating but actually it's a pretty good decision for the future too, since Java Island (the island Jakarta is on), is in the volcanic ring route, it's quite risky. And also, our capital has been moved once before. In 1946-1948, capital of Indonesia was moved from Jakarta to Yogyakarta because of the fall of Jakarta into Dutch hands, hence why Yogyakarta is called 'Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta' which means 'Special Region of Yogyakarta'. It's quite strategic too, because the nature and air in Kalimantan is much clearer rather in Jakarta.

honestly pain is different to every person looking at each person's pain tolerance and also whether the one who do the kerokan is skillful or not.
when I get kerokan, I use a really warm massage oil and the masseuse will skillfully scrape my back. I could even fall asleep while my back is being scrape 😂

Indonesia has almost a thousand languages across the country. We're exsposed by so many languages, dialects, accents and all kind of pronunciations like ever since we were born. Most Indonesians are multilingual or atleast bilingual, I guess thats why we're kinda good at pronunciation..

Indonesian is actually pretty easy compared to French, but just like you said, we use a lot of slang and region dialect so that's why foreigners have hard time learning it.

Actually using right hand was influenced by our own culture mixed with muslim teaches. The easiest way to say is we use *right hand* to pick, touch, point, give *something clean* meanwhile we use *left hand* to pick, touch, put *something dirty.*
There are also lots of left handed Indonesians, some of them purely left handed and the other is just left handed only when writing. And Indonesian actually pretty open minded (atleast in my generation) but older generation usually will asking the reason of left handedness first, i mean if they know you are naturaly/forcely become a left handed they will chill it out but if you aren't they will scold you by being rude. But the safest is indeed using your right hand.
Even i see my daughter seems likely to be a left handed person, but we decide to not force her using right hand, i just ask her to using right hand in something she can and comfortable with.

@@revengeofachild yeah, i mean at least my mother uses "pure" indonesian but when you're trying to learn you just end up mixing a bunch of regional expressions and it looks like a pure mess when you're trying to speak a little bit

@@plucicrescens yeah my parents always told that to me, like they kept saying left hand is for anything that's dirty, while right hand is more polite i guess.
I'm the only one in my family who's left handed though, i ended up having to write in front of my cousins, but yeah the youngest are really accepting me using my left hand, mostly because i'm a foreigner to them.
But i've seen that the indonesian people i've met are way more accepting no matter how old they are, since i'm clearly not 100% indonesian they know me and they just let it go.

The only signifier to distinguish wether it's past tense or not is by putting word "kemarin", "tadi", "barusan".
And for the future tense is "nanti" or "besok" 🤣

There is no plural too in Indonesian. Just repeat the word twice. Anak2, pohon2, buku2.. lol how easy!

Indonesian official language is Indonesian language. Not 'bahasa' (language). Melayu is also Bahasa but Bahasa Melayu is not official language of Indonesia.

The grammar that we use is easy. But the slangs tho. There gonna be like 1 to many slangs that will be used. And some of us have to search the meaning of it in google or ask people about it.

The formal/standard Indonesian is easy but the informal Indonesian is quite hard because it full of slangs and mix of local language. Formal Indonesian only used in formal/really important event. I have learned a little bit of Formal Indonesian and after I came to Indonesia and hear how the local speak, it really made me dumbfounded. They spoke really different from what I've learned, but when I talked to them with my crappy Formal Indonesian they also replied with Formal Indonesian. It's really an interesting experience for me haha

Magnus Bane have been a lovely character to represent little bit and pieces of my country; Indonesia.
Indonesian as a language is quite easy, especially the formal version. the informal version is so different you'd get a headache hearing it. informal version usually mixed with mother tongue (local ethnic language) you're currently at. Just like the comment above me pointed out, we're eager to communicate with foreigner when they speak in our language even if it's in formal version. sure it's weird but we understand. because we have over 700+ ethnic language from west to east of Indonesia.
even I wouldn't have any idea what my fellow Indonesian speak in Papua if I don't use formal Indonesian (I'm a Javanese).
