Random serious relationship advice I highly recommend: Make sure each of you has one thing that's yours. It can be something like playing ultimate frisbee, or going to puzzle game nights, any hobby or regular time/place to go to with other people. If you totally meld into just one person, it can be hard to admit when you want to do something if you know your person doesn't like doing that thing. It's okay to not like all the same stuff! And healthy to have a space that's just yours.

Yeah, my family has similar manners and habits that would probably be considered fancy-ish to some people too (they're lax about the whole napkin-in-lap thing when it's just us hanging out and eating dinner, but it's another thing entirely when we have company over or we're out at a public restaurant).
Some of it I think is developed from manners and habits passed through the generations. For example, while my Baby Boomer-aged Dad didn't have family that was as strict with manners save for a few, my Baby Boomer Mom grew up with family where it was culturally ingrained to be as well-mannered as possible, right down to saying "Yes/no, ma'am/sir" being a knee-jerk reaction. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
