You're not wrong, mate.
It IS legal in some US States, though. You gotta disable the armaments (in legal terms, “deweaponize” it) on it, but get it registered and slap a license plate on that thing and you can drive a T-127 or a Sherman around. Sadly, you can’t drive something the size of a freebrams, since it’s “too dangerous” for the road. “Well, that’s ONE way to get through a traffic jam.”

I remember back in 8th grade my history class had a visit from a WWII veteran who was on a tank crew. They were out patrolling some abandoned town when the guy who sent them on the patrol called everyone back to where their base was. The guy driving the tank ended up taking a wrong turn on some random street and they ended up ridiculously lost. At the same time, a German tank had managed to get close to the American base without them knowing, but as they were getting ready to attack out comes the lost tank from *behind* them, and assuming that their ambush just got counter ambushed the German tank immediately surrendered.

He used to be in Swiss military, and during an artillery training his crew misaligned the howitzer and shot over the mountain they were supposed to shoot, right into a pedestrian walking path on the next mountain. Nobody got harmed, but his squad got some serious trouble

"What's the problem with a basement, doe?" You have to lay the buildings foundation below the frost line. In California, and other warmer states, the frost line is inches down or non existent. If they don't need to dig up a basement, they won't, because it's expensive. If you don't lay foundation below frost line, the freezing ground will lift and shift the house through the freeze/ thaw cycle.
Those earthquakes tho, scary thought to be in a basement as the ground just collapses around you and now your stuck

In the African campaign due to the main gun being terrible at long range against panzers, they had to do tank charges in order to get an advantage against panzer tanks in tank warfare
