The 2015 and 2016 warriors were incredibly deep, they went 10 men deep with players who could have started on many other teams. Shaun was a mismatch on every other PG on both ends, Speights was just a plain bucket getter, Ezeli was a very solid rim running center, Leandro Barbosa was a solid shooter and put major pressure on defenses in transition with his speed, and obviously iguodala was Iguodala

What is incredible in all of this is how the hell someone, in fact, like this (and then some) chokes in the Finals? And needs all timers (as in player and all time incident for the opponent, a-la 2015) + HOFers stars/role players to win all the way? Defense by individuals and how it affects the team is hard to find justify via advanced stats at times. Especially since defensive strategies are a team based thing and if the effort on that chain 'breaks' then the whoever is at the end will be in a bad position to try contest the player with the ball. But high motor on defense is always a very good sign especially by a player whose known around the league to be the best offensive player without the ball.

Motor, in general, is heavily under-discussed in everyday hoops convos. Steph's is a pretty big key to his success.

Constant defensive activity, such as this video shows, is not easy to track or count or discuss. But it is a huge driver on good defensive teams - the kid(s) who will continue to track down / seek out and take up help assignments or close out ball movement is well worth putting onto the floor.

Curry being a weak defender is a straight up myth. He shut Westbrook down in that 7 game series against OKC when Durant laughed about him guarding him

He seems more "active" because he's running more pick and rolls now and less Isolations, but off the ball he's still not all that active. He rarely gets points from making cuts or running around using off ball screens, doesn't really have that kind of motor.

Kareem hits 10 shots per game on 18 attempts for 56%, gets to the line more than Curry @ 6 FTA/G to Curry’s 4. will demand a double team at almost any year of his career with a 15% AST as a big man (the main reason why he has the most assists for a 7 footer ever), and had the most unique and effective shot ever created in the sky hook. Kareem was a terror in transition and it shows in an earlier video in this series. For all of Curry’s ball handling, off-ball movement, and gravity-Kareem owned the paint in the same fashion that Curry owns the 3PT space.

You are responding to a person interested in Curry's stats if he hadn't sat out 18-20 4th quarters of 2015-16. It would result in him scoring 3-10 additional points in each of those quarters. Each extra 1 point ppg in those blow-outs is .25 ppg added to his overall average. Probably easily raises his average + 2.5 ppg.

That's insane. Although, I wonder if Curry's otherwordly efficiency is partly a byproduct of this era of pace and space. How effective would he have been in the 2000s and earlier, where defenses were a lot more physical and traditional lineups had 2 big men who couldn't shoot, which would've crowded Curry's driving lanes.

the thing is klay and curry pre 2016 with kd played in a different nba...the league is now younger and 5 years more experienced at playing the same game style as them with young players growing up practicing the same shots as curry and learning to shoot open like klay..its not 2015-early 2016 anymore...hell the 2016 thunder were up 3-1 on them easily almost won games 6-7 and the 2015 grizz gave them trouble until conley got hurt while on an already banged up team going into the series which cost them game 1 so i could argue the warriors pre kd were not this juggernaut as people claim...they were very beatable..they just got lucky in 2015 as the pelicans and rockets as well as the cavs and grizz all had injuries to key guys...the warriors did not play one starting pg for more then a few games in a series the entire playoffs...

Yeah KD joining the warriors hurt curry but also helped him. Curry woulda been averaging 30+ a game every year if KD hadn't joined. He took the back seat so they could work together and win ringhs.

In rankings for players today he’s definitely underrated because there are too many clowns saying he isn’t top 5 when he’s closer to top 3 than being out of the top 5, but his all time ranking is a bit overrated

I agree his impact profile is like that of Shaquille, MJ, Kobe or those players who have a consistent and unstoppable aspect of their game that even if you schemed a bunch of defenders to slow them down for stretches, they will never be out of the game and will beat you in the end the same way teams scouted them. Though I do think Curry owns a heliocentric like aspect despite not needing the ball because of owning the 'Reggie Miller' effect where they are so much more dangerous off-ball because of their shooting talents. Which opens up Curry for so many options including old school ones like him setting screens to compliment his just as effective catch and shoot 3-ball % to go with his pull up 3-ball %.

I saw some crazy stat that said out when those two teammates are on the court at the same time they have the highest differential in the league.

I got to watch Michael's entire career, and I can honestly say that no one in my lifetime (born in 78) had more impact on the game of basketball and the popularity of the game overall then Steph Curry and Mike. And all that being said, Steph Curry is the greatest offensive player I have ever seen. The way he changed the game has made it more entertaining overall. Hail to the real King :)

@@landonr.536 Mike was just as dominant, but the addition of the 3 ball makes Curry unrivaled. Mike wasn't all that good of a three point shooter, so he had to work harder for his points. Steph and Mike are very similar to me in their level of complete dominance. Both of them affected the game both with and without the ball. Hands down they are the two best I've ever seen offensively. Mike had the size, though. Also, Mike's ability to palm the ball made him so, so dangerous. That was the biggest difference between him and Kobe. It gave Mike another level of possibility. That, and when it came to the playoffs, Mike was a monster unlike any other. Just unreal.

I think the Durant video made it pretty obvious that even a great player like Durant couldn't get over the hump and win a championship without Curry and his ability to draw the defense away. I got lit up for saying Durant just isn't as good as people make him out to be. And I stand by that. He got beat by Curry and couldn't win without him. If Durant was so good, why can he not do it without Curry? Because the truth is that Curry is the difference maker on those championship teams, not Durant.
