The volcano Eldfell was formed in 1973 on the island of Heimaey off the Southern Coast of Iceland. If you walk up to the crater and dig just a few centimetres beneath the surface, the ash and cinder is still hot. The locals certainly used to use the hot soil to bake a delicious bread called rúgbrauð (if you're ever in Iceland, try it - it is sweet and sticky).
Shortly after the end of the eruption, engineers built a geothermal system to produce hot water and electricity from Eldfell's lava and cinder. At its peak, the system supplied most of the island's power and hot water. I think it is now supplemented by power from the mainland.

Interesting that you see fallout from the cloud, it must be going up some distance.
All the lava on the inside walls never really gets a chance to cool down between eruptions. I'm surprised that more of the walls hasn't collapsed.
I wonder if that part falling is solidified lava from the volcano or part of the ground
