- Today we’re back in Korea for the first time since getting back from the school trip, and we’re meeting our old friends NCT!! Last time a bunch of you told us that next time we need to meet Johnny too, so we took your advice!
Huge thanks to Johnny for a great time and being such a gent!
This is the first of a few episodes where we get the chance to sit down with some top Korean artists over some incredible Korean food and bring you guys along for the journey!

ikr like i expected something more chaotic than this but surprisingly its the "calmer chaotic" but still very enjoyable bc of his jokes lol. and i love how chill and laidback he is here
from a complete outsiders perspective from kpop, he seems super cool and down-to-earth. when he said "sometimes, you just say things to sound cool" I knew he was a good guy lol
Just throwing this out there, but if you like Johnny but not wanting to get into kpop, he does his own video series called Johnny's Communication Center where he does random things, everything from surfing lessons to visiting a CD manufacturing factory. You can find them on the NCT 127 youtube account. He usually has another member or two with him. One of the most heart-warming and popular ones is when the entire NCT 127 band goes to Johnny's parents' house in Chicago while they're on tour. You'll see it in the list. Johnny and Jaehyun at Ikea is also a great one, as well as pole dancing believe it or not. His determination but calmness is so nice to watch.

I have never really got into NCT before and dont know any one members of NCT. But Johnny may become my favourite for now. How is he so chill and laidback and just be so candidly himself? He sounds like a genuine good person behind his idol persona.

lmao the best part is he's not even kidding about the hot dogs in chicago, they are seriously anti-ketchup. (for those who don't know, a classic "chicago dog" has pickles, tomatoes, onions, sport peppers, relish and mustard on a poppy seed bun. they are delicious!)

Johnny is genuinely one of the funniest people - it’s special because it’s rare enough to be that quick-witted in one language but he knows how to be truly funny in both Korean and English. he’s so familiar with the native nuances of both languages and that is seriously so impressive

@@markmybirds yeah, I’ve been watching those for years. One of my favorites is still one of the very first ones I saw, in which he tours a factory that manufactures their cds; Johnny’s reaction when he realizes the factory manager showing him around speaks English is priceless!

I feel like everytime that Johnny having conversation in English he really have that witty side of him and the conversation are so smooth but also fun to listen to it

That is not surprising he is from Chicago; thus, his English is better than his Korean because he thinks in English and not Korean.
Sometimes it's also mediocre translations that don't convey everything very well. Johnny is so skilled in nuance and subtext in both English and Korean which is so difficult for people to do outside of their native language. Hence most translators don't know how to convey it to English. We get some clever jokes from him but I'm certain that his wit is just as fierce in Korean but gets slightly losy in translation. It goes the other way too, I don't think Korean subtitles on this episode will truly convey all the subtleties of the jokes.

We all know Johnny can go crazy with energy but he is so chill with strangers, I think he’s super respectful of giving everyone a chance to speak (probably also a reflex from being in a group with many members), he just wants everyone to feel comfortable and have a good time. His hosting skills kind of come out that way too I think - like he wants to hear more from the other person rather than speak about himself 😂
The whole video was all vibes, it flew kinda naturally and laid back. Before Johnny being gorgeous, wild and funny, he's a really honest and insightful man, deserving of respect for his dedication. He's outrageously easy going with almost everyone so you just get charmed while watching anything involving him. Plus he's funny and bold. "Mark is weak to my jokes".

I feel like we don’t get much of Johnny on his own in these kind of interview settings so it’s nice to hear him talk about himself, especially how he started because he trained for so long but I never really hear anyone ask him about it.
well in the beginning he only trained during the summers because he'd go back to the US for regular school, so it wasn't really that long if you calculate actual time spent training compared to elapsed time (3 months of the year instead of the whole year).
This was an amusing segment. I don't know much about Johnny, but this video has allowed me to explore who he is a bit more. His casual and easygoing personality shines throughout his interaction with Josh and Oli.

He can be laid-back, but he can also be off the wall hillarious and having your mind spinning trying to keep up with his insanely hilarious stories and jokes. He also can be a big ball of energy making you laugh while he's dancing or moving in crazy ways just to make people laugh and smile. His members say he is the sweetest and best listener in the group. Not only is Johnny the one who can make his members laugh and smile, but he is the member they need to go to when they are stressed or hurting because Johnny genuinely listens without judging. He is the tallest, strongest, and biggest member, but his heart is soft and loving. They call him a teddy bear because of this. All the members are very nice, kind, sweet, and caring guys, so it says a lot that they say he is the sweetest and best listener. 💚 You should check out NCT 127 and Johnny content you won'y regret it. 😁
