As somebody who loves the ideas in the horror genre, but is generally unimpressed by the movies of the horror genre, I found this to be one of the most unsettling films i've ever seen. Extremely impressed with it ; watching it at 3 am also enhanced the experience

Funny you mention that because they have some of my least favorite movies of all time so Im always careful with a sense of dread when I hear about an A24 film, however I will say a few have been very good.

I really appreciate how atmospheric and evocative this movie was, and that it never threw in cheap jump scares just for the sake of it. Some of the imagery is beyond creepy, and will definitely stick with you.
I love these A24 thrillers: small casts, story-driven, subtle, with minimal CGI and deft writing; the real horrors are always inside our heads

You know what makes me sad? This is probably going to be one of the creepiest and most haunting movie that would be released this year, but only a few people are going to see it cause it's from A24. Which is kind of ironic since most of the films that they have released are better than the box office films that people are gonna see this year.
Keep it that way, hidden gems are always the best!

It's the art film. It's not intended to be for masses.
One of my favorite horror films. I've seen it 3 times (iirc) and each time something new pops up, but the same quality always shines through. While it has not yet dethroned my top, Rosemary's baby, it ranks among such lofty horror classics. I'm sure this is one that will be revered by many as time passes.

Most people don't know it but the director/writer for this underrated masterpiece movie was actor Anthony Perkins (Psycho movie Norman Bates) son Is Oz Perkins plus he's directed other movies so let that sink in a bit
Still my favorite A24 film.
I just watched it. Creepy as hell. It's been years since a movie has made my blood chill. Although, when the movie was finished, I had to find an explanation video to understand what the hell was going on.
There's no shame in that; i also had to do an explanation video. They really don't explain it, but I didn't realize how many clues they left throughout the movie. I think it's better that way though
I think it's very easily understandable but out of order so I get your confusion.
@W O L F I thought the movie made it pretty clear that the demon possession was real and that after the death of her parents she found comfort in the demon. That's why when it was exorcised she begged it not to go.
Then, years later, when she got the chance she tried to bring it back but was heart broken to find she couldn't and she was now always doomed to be alone.
To me it's the most brilliant part of the movie and it's so simple and I think a lot of people miss it. The premise of the person being possessed actually wanting to be possessed. I don't think that has ever been explored before.
Considering A24's track record this is probably going to be a great film. Which is bad news for someone like me. I lack the constitution for horror movies so I will be passing this one up.

I had no idea that this is an A24 production (which in the last few years since I first saw this trailer has became my all time favorite studio)!! Totally explains why I wanted to watch this movie soooo badly!
Just watched this. Can def recommend it. Indelible experience. Is a slow burner, can be desensitized to some scenes because of movies like hereditary, but the end twist hit me strong and brought it home. Also worth noting has solid acting and a top notch soundtrack(his majesty)

So glad I got to watch this at the Cleveland Film Festival. I've seen a lot of horror movies and this is in my top 10. This film follow the mantra of less is more. It's bleak and atmospheric, a true masterpiece.
Horror movies like this-slow and minimal music played with some very disturbing scenes- always manage to keep me up many nights. They’re portrayed in such a realistic way with all the effects, it creeps me out so much.
This is a powerful, masterfully made, woefully underrated gem. It requires some attention coupled with moderate intelligence. After reading many reviews on RT (plenty are phony, I know) I can only conclude that it rocketed over many (jump scare, blowed up real good) heads.

There are so many comments saying, “this was dumb! Too slow! Where are all the jumpscares! I need a spooky witch or nun to run at the camera to scare me!” Like it’s so atmospheric and has a tension-filled mystery, it doesn’t need jumpscares or spooky scary witches going, “BOO!GOTTEM!”

this is one of my favorate thriller/horrors - incredibly well done in building up to the climax of the film. i highly recommend this title!
Originally titled February this was released in Canada in 2015. Directed by Anthony Perkins son Oz Perkins. this movie is amazing. if you see it once you will want to watch again and again.

I got to see this last May at CCFF and it was such a great surprise. It freaked the shit out of me-akin to The Shining.
Part of the reason that I like it so much is because of the buildup and the brooding pace / music that gets under your skin, like the shining.

in my humble opinion this movie is A Slow_Burner masterpiece
oh my god the atmosphere, the tention, the suspense, the chills, the excellent dark tone, the acting from the 3 leads especially kiernan shipka, the score &the editing, the cinematography, this movie kills it on those level. this is one of those open for interpretation Implores a second viewing kind of movies that stays with u after u watch it
it reminded me alot of the witch my fav film last year u either gonna love it or hate it
i have just minor problem with the film i hope they did something about it when they release the film in the theatres and i'm sure a lot of people will argue about it when they reveiw this film. overall excellent film definitely worth checking out on the big screen

Great film. A film that respects the art of film making, as opposed to mainstream cinema's constant pandering to the lowest common denominator.
I didn't know what the hell was going on half the time, wasn't creeped out at all, but I did like the vibe. The soundtrack is super strong and creates a memorable atmosphere. Overall, I don't think this was creepy, but I liked it.

This A24 movie trailer is where it's at! The repeating of knocking is remeniscent of Hereditary in the best way possible.
Such a masterpiece. Right up there with the Exorcist. No bullshit, perfect atmosphere, unique plot and realization. One of the best possession movies out there.
Came here to watch the trailer before I started watching the movie but got distracted by the comments. I was scared to watch it and thought it would be really confusing, but it wasn’t confusing at all and was easy to follow...

SOOO SCARY WOW!! Very slow but damn that payed off. Original take on possession and loneliness. Zero Jump scares but tons of visceral REAL scares. The type u dream about!
