Imagine an athlete being caught using a disallowed substance but thinking it is nothing because its "just" weed. Weed is not something unique when it comes to drugs and to be honest I think the major culprit of this is the cultural pushing from certain groups that weed is "just" this and that or somehow is special lulls some into thinking just that, that it is "just" some weed or whatever. Id like to see even the norwegian skiing team try to get weed use through the doping regulations, lol.
I do not know if there is a backstory to this, like if the use of weed was in blatant disregard for the rules that could have worsened the crime, so to speak, or if it was just a lapse of judgement or one-time thing (in which case a 5 year ban is indeed kinda steep), but a ban was completely justified.
Dana loved the Khabib McGregor drama. The post fight WWE-esque chaos was probably the icing on the cake for Dana 😆

The brawl took part even outside the player's team, it was contagious to the audience in the arena too. So you think anyone who came to watch the fight live and saw this situation where they are risking themselves will come again to watch the UFC? most of them won't. Although it was good internet drama, actually bad for selling tickets.

Some major points they missed here. With Brock Lesnar, He failed a pre-fight drug test as well and they still let him fight. With Charles Oliveira, he came back for a second weigh in attempt after an hour, and looked far more drained and sucked out, yet he still weighed exactly the same, .5 pounds over. Also, the Conor versus Khabib after fight brawl was not ugly, it was awesome.

When you try to cut as much weight as possible to have an even bigger size advantage then you deserve much worse than what happened to him when you miss weight. You should be fined minimum 50% of your purse when you miss weight.

Nick deserved to be banned for life from the UFC along with Nate. They jumped a fighter who beat one of them while the fighter was in the hospital after the fight. Their egos couldnt handle that one of the brothers got beat up, so they both jumped the guy while he was healing at a hospital. The Diaz Brothers are punks and both deserved to be taken out of combat sports.
Khabib going after Dillon was the best thing I've seen in UFC history, I wish I could see him landing a solid punch on him too. That would have been epic.

I'd like to know if all the fighters who were reporting the official scale being off by 0.5 pounds were all using the same scale as eachother backstage or if they had their own personal scales. I would imagine it's a shared one provided by the UFC. I don't think it would be practical for every fighter to carry their own scale around.

Moving the Jones fight was one of the greatest things for me. I could have never afforded to go to the Las Vegas event but I was able to get the last minute tickets in LA. People forget how absolutely incredible that card was with all the hindsight we have now. Jon Jones, Alexander Gustafsson, Amanda Nunes, Cris Cyborg, Alexander Volkanovski, B.J. Penn, Petr Yan, Carlos Condit, Michael Chiesa, Chad Mendes, Corey Anderson, Andrei Arlovski, and Ryan Hall all fought on that card.
