The fact that all 3 people who worked in social media donโt use social media is illuminating. For people trying to cut back on social media, try deleting your social media apps when youโre done using them. That way itโs harder to access but itโs not impossible. I realized awhile ago that I, unlike almost everyone around me, wasn't attracted to being on the phone/social media 24/7. I would only ever go on to call/text someone or play a mobile game while waiting to go to class. I never understood "streaks" for snapchat or the necessity to always be scrolling through Instagram or twitter. I still don't use my phone or social media even now, like 10 months into quarantine as I know now that it is just a trap. I am soo confidently clicking the like button, cause I know that those interviews will be respectful and informative. Amazing job, Anthony! Such a wonderful human being ๐
the sad things is in junior high and high school we would have several classes and assemblies telling us this information, telling us physical/emotional safety risks, plus just general threat of everything being so publicized about your life/being so accessible
and the part thatโs sad is that i could and still can completely comprehend these dangers, but donโt even seem to ever care. it just feels like iโm completely reliant on technology.
not only with myself, but with social pressure and this being an outlet to feel accepted.
iโve used social media as a coping mechanism since i was in third grade when i first downloaded social media sites and saw cool things happening, then i wanted other people to think iโm cool to validate myself. it became this never ending cycle and i ended up not using it for probably a full year
then, as i got older, how odd is it to not use social media for everything?
schoolwork was online. my parents couldnโt take my laptop or ipad or phone away because i couldnโt get schoolwork done
how i learned became online. my high school doesnโt even have a library anymore, it became a media center where you can use computers. i love the library but itโs so much easier to learn about something online, so itโs a lot of energy to just go to the library.
sports & hobbies? online. all of our reminders, and tasks, resources are online. videos we had to submit or voice recording of us practicing, all there
all of our ability to capture photos & videos? online.
work? online applications, needing to do online work at home, completely working online, smaller businesses and creators pretty much needing internet to get any of their business out there.
social pressure to fit in? needing to post on social media, a certain way, all curated together, having accounts on trendy apps to fit in with others. in probably sixth grade, invitations to birthday parties were all online. i got made fun of whenever iโd use anything handwritten. i barely write anymore and if i write more than three minutes my hand completely cramps, yet i can type for hours.
how to have communication with longer distance family members/while youโre away from parents? all online to check in and call them, share what youโre doing. be able to call for help.
access to news, pop culture, current events, all online.
i cant remember the last time someone has written a letter or i have unless it was a mailed birthday card. getting in contact with people is all online.
making new friends and forming relationships are all online. i met my boyfriend through snapchat. most of my friends i didnโt talk to until after social media interactions. more recently for me, downloading bumble bff bc iโm just too anxious to meet people irl and unfamiliar with it.
itโs so frustrating because regardless of how much i want to get off social media, even without the addictive or self-worth aspect, knowing all the dangers and risks and negative effects on me, how in the hell could i not be online all the time??
also the nine hour statistic worries me bc i know i personally spend way more than that on my phone a day if iโm not working or have a commitment that prevents me from being on my phone. i donโt even have to check and i know i spend way more than half a day on my phone. one time i seen โ10 hoursโ and was super proud of myself. another time i seen โ6 hoursโ and was literally elated i was able to stay off of it that often. itโs scary
Internet has stopped to be fun in 2010. I'm so sad, cause the web it's not what it used to be
anthony has the greatest channel on youtube, so much informative media which got me into watching dissociaDID.
Please do โI spent a day with people with Edโsโ particularly EDNOS and BED. Thank you so much for ur content and so much representation โค๏ธ
Ed's? As in Ehlers-Danlos??? That would be awesome! I have messaged him before about doing an episode on people that deal with severe chronic pain, since there is honestly so much of a stigma surrounding us.
what's that
It would be helpful to explain it for the people that donโt know what you are Talking about :)
@@lizthedisjointedzebra692 I was talking about eating disorders, but doing a video like that would be great too
@@benia1908 Ed=eating disorder
EDNOS=eating disorder not other specified

Hi Anthony! Can you please make a video with people diagnosed witg depression and/or anxiety to explain the truth between feeling depressed/having depression and feeling anxious/ having anxiety?
Vouch. I discovered my depression at 23 by taking an AD prescribed for a different issue.
I was like 'uhhh yeah so turns out there was a different issue...:
hey anthony, i would love to see an "i spent a day with people w/ misophonia" video. Not many people know about it and i think it would be a great way to bring awareness. I have misophonia and I've never seen much representation in general. Hope you consider it!
This video is kinda sad. I fell off of social media a long time ago, and while I know how toxic it can be, sometimes I feel like I should get back on. I think I went too far to the extreme and separated myself from friends and family because of it. I guess itโs all about self control and discipline. And confidence. And respect. Yeah... great video!
second girl didnt even plug herself only anthony respect.
Thatโs Bailey! Sheโs always been amazing. I actually went to high school with her :)
meanwhile that guy took his 5 seconds to be like "I want to remind you that im an exgoogle exfacebook techlead". and im like.. yeah EX youre not anymore
@@pvic6959 lol yea but you couldd argue he said that cause he doesnt want to be represented as part of them still lol.
I love this series so much! I never realized how much I was curious to know about until these subjects came to be
Anthony, after this particular video, I will be a subscriber for as long as you produce content! I have seen some of your other videos including your especially effective interview with people living with schizophrenia. In my opinion, it was an amazing piece that made the scary stigma take a back seat to the humanity of these individuals, and it allowed their person to be seen and to connect with the viewers. It allowed a relatable experience in the context of a medical struggle vs just being "crazy". So many people struggle with health, and these brave people are no different, other than because it affects the brain, fight is exponentially harder, I feel. You bring a gift of humanity that is immeasurably missed and needed. I have played a few of your videos for my children as a way to encourage understanding and empathy. I ask that you PLEASE keep pulling back the curtains on the fringe subjects, the REAL HURDLES that keep us from understanding and connecting to each other. PLEASE, PLEASE, do not become another "talk show host" squandering your gift on sensational interviews. I haven't seen the school shooting survivors interview yet, but I worry about the topic, because people already sympathize with shooting victims, and so does that leave only morbid fascination? You have an extremely unusual grace to thoughtfully ask the difficult questions without pandering, thereby allowing the audience to "see" and decide (without emotional manipulation) in an authentically introspective way. It is powerful. Stay golden.
Ive been following this series from the beginning and I have NO regrets, thank you Anthony!!!!!!
To be honest, asking a guy to interview, a guy who has been accused of releasing private addresses of another youtuber... Not sure this is the best person to ask
Wait what? Who are you talking about? What did he do?
huh
Who and what?
@@LannasMissingLink Patrick, one of the interviewees in this video, is known for pedalling a scam programming course he makes ridiculous money off of, and doxxed someone who exposed said programming course

I love this series. Iโm especially excited for the episode on OCD. Iโve had to deal with it my whole life, and when I saw Anthony was going to make a video on it I truly felt joy in my heart. I wish I had contacted him for a chance to talk about it. I cannot find words on how to explain exactly how it feels for us to see videos that pertain to our own circumstances. It in a way reassures us and makes us feel heard; confirming that we are alone nor are we crazy and these issues truly do exist and arenโt just faults in our character. Anthony, if youโre reading this, thank you deeply.
Almost 5 mil subscribers ๐ฎ๐ Congrats!!
"sapped away their productivity"
Me, watching this when I still have 7 pages to write by midnight: ๐ณ
I'm excited to see Anthony's perspective on social media. Hearing about the history is fucking cool. Still want to know how they edit Anthony jumping through the celing.
Anthony, whenever you doubt yourself think about this. Your videos are some of the very best programming I've ever seen in my long life and I've lived all over the world. Your introductions, questions, and epilogues are intelligently and thoughtfully planned. You are sensitive, kind, and honest with your guests. You choose guests who have stories to tell about things that are rarely, or never, talked about but should be as these are things the public should know about to create understanding of others and what affects us all. I don't give praise easily because I'm hard to please so you must be doing everything right. Lastly, numbers go up and down. It just happens and can't be predicted. You have a decent amount of subs now and as long as you continue with your usual high quality content, you will continue to be equally, or even more, successful. (I may have only just subbed but I have watched your vids before)
Just discovered these series. They're awesome. Thank you for making them (also, I like the small introduction of each at the beginning. The background song and effects made it look like they were video game characters about to fight. lol)
Them: I donโt think people realize how addicted they can be to social media
Me: Nooo Iโm not addicted! Iโm never on social media
Also me: *spends 10 hrs a day on the Jeremy Renner app*

i actually loved this video, it confirms everything i was feeling recently about social media. Please take a break once in a while guys, youโll love it
I work as a Content Writer, Digital Advertiser, and Search Engine Optimizer and, let me tell you, I *HATE* algorithms.
The content has increasingly and extremely quickly become more senseless and actually irrelevant. It's even more an enemy to users each time it updates.
So, being involved with all the aspects of the internet by making ad campaigns, saturating we sites with keywords, and also posting my personal poetry online to see it fail has made me run away from basically everywhere but KRplus.
If someone is intrested in this topic, u should watch the social dilemma on netflix.
Yes, Bailey is briefly in it too!
Yes!
It wasn't a good documentary. Really one sided
Anthony, you are such a good person for doing this! Cheering for you, I hope you live a happy and fulfilling life.
I don't have whatsapp, facebook, snapchat, tiktok, twitter, instagram, and so on... and I still sometimes feel overwhelmed with the internet and often I do a "no internet week" for detoxing.
i really appreciate anthonyโs videos. Hes so open minded and shares lots of very valuable information with us, from wich we all can learn a lot of, if we allow ourselves to.
Thank you for that, keep it up. ๐๐ฝโค๏ธ
