I miss projects like this. Personally enjoy stuff like this for more than a Supercar projects
Jeremiah Freeman I agree. The super car builds are introduced, but not something I am likely to do. Projects like this are more in my arena and interest.
Definitely like the normal cars more then the big sema build stuff
Michael Starn but the big build Sema stuff is car porn, this is the bread and butter stuff.
Sometimes it’s just nice to watch a little bit of porn 😉
If you wanna watch simple stuff like this with worst production value I am rebuilding a flooded Supra currently 🤣
I cant afford either one so I'm cool with what I get
Chris: “Today we’re gonna take a look at my budget STI”
Urologist: Yes, please hold
Drop the pan now. Clean as much as possible.
Clean the fuel tank for sure.
Drain power steering as well.
Agreed
Yup
I would do to
Agreed
rosskie320 exactly, he needs to replace that power steering pump too. The bearing is completely shot and they’re only about 70-80 bucks
It’s cool that you’re going back to budget. More achievable for most of us. Love this episode bros. Thanks 🙏🏽
I prefer the affordable builds like this. I love Subaru’s too.
I absolutely love Subaru's, but getting to the engine is a royal pain.
Subies imo are best cars, like how they look, just lovely, AWD, its just the most beautiful car you could find
But where is the boat?
Even the "ugly" Subarus look good, love my Baja Turbo and I've been playing around with the idea of getting a early 2010s sti.
So...what does the Subaru own? Evidently its owner doesn't know possessive from plural, so surely the Subaru owns something.
You know he's an expert when he smells smoke from the exhaust...😂
sounds like the idler pully bearing or the alternator bearings have had it
Was the A/C compressor still on the engine? That's my guess. Smaller belt (A/C "delete") for the win.
Could also be the ac belt tensioner pulley bearing having a shit.
Interesting !
I’m building a jdm GC8 on my channel if I head that I’d shut my engine off straight away.
@@flippingcars101 Ya but you don't have the funds he has to blow so doesn't matter to him and everyone learns something. However to us normal folks yes you'd be right and I'd agree with ya.
On a side note, with the Sti in the garage, it looks like 2017 b is for build lol
Mitchell the good’ol days, nothing like outdoor painting
Yes that's what I was saying, taking it back to the original B is for build 😎
It’s so great
@@rockyschannel5651 ..couldnt agree more
Agreed! Back to the lower budget, and achievable cars that the majority of us could actually afford.
“Uhh can I get a latte?”
“Yeah sure” 3:40
This is the kind of content/reason why I started watching your channel. Thank you, it's a breath of fresh air.
i'm more interested in this car than the lambo right now.
okay so next episode you gotta tell us how you got expelled from high school by hacking
HACKERMAN
He did, he comment that long time ago, he change grades on the high school server, that's why he got expelled.
@@cristianfederico2411 what a legend... That's incredible 🤣🤣
Cristian Federico what video?
Hacked the school servers and changed grades.
I had a guy in my school do it for $50 Haha he got suspended for 10 days.
I definitely would have pulled the motor, pulled the pan, cleaned with brake-clean, pulled the heads, cleaned everything you can touch, replace timing belt and related rollers and bearings, reassemble, and pull the plugs out of the bottom of the fuel tank to drain (all of my Subaru's have had plugs). Would have taken little more time than y'all took already.
love the budget build series, I hope you do more in the future while still working on the exotics
You could clean the engine by filling it with diesel instead of oil couple times and run it on idle. It cleans milkshake quite well and diesel has lub properties so it does not damage the engine or the seals.
Interesting
And by the way gasoline that many people use for that task is no good cause it dries all the oil seals in the engine as well as everything inside and it’s causing damage. Only diesel that contains basically oil.
a quart of transfluid will do it as well. As long as there isnt a heavy load on the motor the water will boil out when the oil gets to temp.
MrRock861261 yes will do just trans fluid does not have cleaning properties like diesel. Keeps tend to separate from water like normal oil. Diesel mixes with water and takes it out and when at rest then separates from water.
I work on Jet Engines for 29 years and I am brain dead when it comes to working on modern cars, I own a 1978 corvette that has a carburetor that where my knowledge stops. Today’s cars I am lost. Your channel has become an educational channel for me, thank you very much for your efforts.
Glad to be back onto some new rebuilds. Love them STI's
Fuel tank is probably full of water like the engine was .
“ My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard”
13:40 When you are so much of a Subaru Bro that your Imprezas fist action after being drowned is vaping.
I'm SO glad you've got back to a more "normal" car. This is a lot of fun to watch (not that the Lambo wasn't!). Please don't think we all want just supercars though.
It sounds like your power steering system has water in it. The A/C compressor clutch sounds suspect too.
Yep noticed one of the rubber dampers missing on the clutch plate as well.
Man I would love this car. I can never find one near me as a project car.
same here .. only thing near me are beat to crap commuter sedans and SUVs ... anything anywhere interesting is way overpriced for a project
Zippy TheChicken i see a wrx for 5k here. it’s not an STi though.
C Ollie same here. And they be going for almost $9k for a shell which is insane.
There's a drain plug on the fuel tank!
You ease my anxiety by flushing so much oil through it first, it makes me happy
You really need some sawdust on the floor!
It's great it starts 👍🏻👍🏻
Greetings from Mexico
Have a great new year to all ✨🎉🎊
Cat litter is best.
Looks like this episode was sponsored by Disneyland too! lol
Watched the Lambo. Seen these 2 so far. Started watching the 240 series. Got to the episode of you explaining where you needed to go backwards for more cabin space and all your negative ninnies. You're about to the point of information overload. There are so many Automotive Shows that are Pro-Builders that the History of Hot Rodding is getting lost. Where do people think the professionals gained their knowledge? Somebody like Chip Foose who learned at his Daddy's knee took that passion to the next level. Dave K. is SELF TAUGHT. Trial and error. Vic Edelbrock SR passed along his knowledge to JR who passed it on to Cammie. YT has given you and a few others a place to show people what it means to be Garage Built again. Nothing fancy. Keep on keeping on. We'll keep watching and learning.
Glad it started and the oil looks better and better each flush and I hope you get it running better soon!
That temp sensor is located under the intake manifold kinda behind the alternator..alot people miss it and forget to plug it in.
I need to hear this high school hack story
Finally, real video on flooded engine cleaning! Thanks for exceptional content!
I usually never watch your videos from start to finish. But this one I did, I love the car so much and seeing you and that other guy were awesome to watch fix this thing. Just like a couples of guys being dudes vibes. I love it
Add like 14oz of diesel in the oil and it’ll help loads on getting the water out
That's interesting, how does that work?
Everyone standing 3 meters away with no spark plugs in hahaha
Love the build you guys are doing and the details you are giving. Exited for the next videos
Glad to see you back with another build! Love these cars.....
You got me checking everyday for this video
when all that oil came out, i reminded me of the head on Guinness.
OH MEN I AM JUST ENGAGED WITH YOU!!! THE LS ENGINE AND YOUR FAITH BRING ME HERE, SALUDOS DESDE LIMA PERU!
Nice work boys, solid Chanel. I’m very excited to see this thing come together. Gets me excited to buy my own!!
I would like to hear the story about how you got expelled from school for hacking.
Ryan M he changed everyone’s grades in the school database. pretty bad.
DesiredFilm there was a film about this.
Gingium has a Subaru, Bisforbuild has a Subaru
Me receiving Subaru notifications : *confused screaming*
hell yea Gingium fans boi!
Looks like you need a Subaru
Loving these sti videos man it’s dope just watching you guys figure out how to get this thing back to life I’m doing the same thing with my speed 3 got to get it back and running so I can sell it for more things to do on the speed 6 loving the content for sure
I just wish you’d post more like I understand it takes days for parts and editing and you work your ass off but I love the work you do and the channels really inspiring and I just need MORE!!! 👍
Drain the fuel tank, might solve the running rough problem.
Yeah when it's that bad it's in the oil definitely gas tank is next let alone tranny and 2 diffs
100% there's water in there. A little scared of the intake having whatever-that-was in there too... mud, rust, who knows. I'm not terribly proficient but I know that once headers are off, rust follows pretty soon afterward. Sounds like it sat headless for a few months. Cool that it runs -- pretty good engineering to make something which can function after that catastrophic of water damage -- but if they dont get it out, its not going to stay running.
It's salvage car. It sat like that for at least 5-6 months with water in it before it even came to auction.
You never under any circumstances start a flooded car that you suspect went into the engine until you drop the fuel tank, fuel pump, bleed the fuel lines, brake lines, check the block and cylinders, the oil, the transmission, the fuse box, as much wiring as you can see by eyeballing it, and then once all that stuff has been gone over and had a full fluid change can you start it.
The guy spilling oil all over the floor is giving me an aneurism
New to the channel! Hella excited for this build
Finally a build series I want to follow. It's been a minute. Glad its running.
18:20 is that Savagegeese if not it looks remarkably like him
Sounds like some kind of bearing on the accessories is dead.
Love seeing this as a fellow gd wrx owner. I have a bagged bugeye I’m planning on making more videos about soon.
Love this build ❤️
When manu sti is there !!! Already a good vid!!!!
We should definitely get you a custom #MeLeMount for the rebuild.
And a set of engine caps ;)
I've never seen so many hoses and tubes, chaos engine design
You know Chris after the lambo and sema I wondered what project you will start next... and Damn i am happy!!! I'm going to love watching this project ! Halla from South Africa!
the bearing on your pulleys are crying for help ahahah!
Save yourself the time and just pull the motor and do the head gaskets I’m sure that’s why the oil was full of coolant. Its a Subaru after all. I’m enjoying this build because I can relate to this level of money spent.so far👍🏻
Tim and Deb Vant Hof at the very least Id drop the oil pan
Happy New Year to everyone. All the best for a prosperous New Year from us here in Queensland Australia.
Oddly enough I have the same oil catch pan! Glad you're making progress! Best wishes and Peace Out!
Better order a starter i can smell it from here
Any starter that's been submerged isn't long for this world
Where backkkkk!!!! LETS GOOOOO
Love this project already 👍
This STi had an STi.
Watching you guys drain that oil was Sooooo satisfying 😂👍
Lebowski - 2020! 😂😂😂
That oil drain looked like a giant espresso haha
Love the vids bro. I just subscribed.
Love the video, one thing to note you may not have need to drain the oil that much. With the oil only being put in, run for 60 seconds then shut off. You are " Short tripping" the car. What the is, is when you run the car just long enough to get it warm but not warm enough to remove the moisture that comes form air. The moisture then condensates and appears in your oil as a milkshake.
I was just about to ask when you gona upload
i was going to do the same 2 lol
When ppl call boxer motors boxsters lol
And 'oil galleys' instead of 'galleries'...
When people call engine motors
blazers12369 guilty there. 99% of the time I don’t do that.
blazers12369 shit i do that a lot
@@ButteredUpToast Most of America and Canada does that!
always happy when i see a new video is posted!
I think “by the way, I got expelled for hacking” is by far the best product placement for any kind of brand, let alone a VPN. Love the hoodie too! You should work more on cheap cars, Chris - makes your show even more fun to watch ;)) j/k but seriously great work as always! Thanks and Happy New Year!
“Hey guys it’s B is fo....” “Real quick message from our sponsor”.
Is forgetting the spark plugs feel anything like ordering a driver side mirror from Europe LOL
Not quite as embarrassing, but close, I suspect.
Well. Almost all of europa drives on the same side of the road as USA, but he thought it would be a good idea to buy it from UK...
Excited to see the build 👀
Most excited Iv ever been for BIFB Subiegang!!
I subbed back just to follow with this build.Had left when he went from budget builds to crazy builds
13:20 at 2x speed the idle sounds like a diesel
@@liveandletlive2894 are you the son of satan?
@@liveandletlive2894 so your brain is constantly in hyperdrive
hahaha sounds like a duramax
I love this series!!
Put one or two can of Seafoam in the fuel tank. Shit is amazing. Cleans your whole fuel system from the tank all the way to the engine. Not a paid comment but the stuff is top notch, especially when you're working on this.
Sound like crrrroughcrrhumcrrrrr as if there is no oil at all in the engine...
they: engine sounds good
😂😂
yeah you heard those rings or the shaft just grinding on that first turn over, made me cringe 😖😂
Yeah the engine is ruined now.
When your Subaru sound's like Ducati... 😂😂
Amazing video and merry Christmas
I’m enjoying this build! Can’t wait to start my first build for my channel.
I've been roloading the page constanly waiting for his video
Ever heard of notifications?
MikeHeu 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️you dont get it
Please do this as ralley spec rather than slamming it, would be a change and just suits the car better
David Cheeseman rally season is right around the corner in the PNW
Love this project 👌
Great video. I need this in my life.
next episode: Head-gasket replacement for the flooded sti
This would have been so much easier If you put it in rice 😒
Haahaaa lol 😝
😂
It's a Subaru, so technically it's already rice.
Tim Whiting ok boomer
😂😂😂 It's not a phone... LOL
Hell yea STI build been waiting for this 1
I love watching these diagnosis episodes
PLEASE REBUILD THIS and make it just a fast weekend car
No such thing as a fast reliable sti.... even with 20k invested
Dan And lmfao thats a funny joke
@@devon5078no joke its the truth
Chris, do a sti swap into a gc!
Awesome that this thing started off with no problems it must’ve been flooded and just sat without being started no Hydro lock didn’t seem like you had any water in the top side of the engine no water came out of the plugs when you turned it over so far home run 👍🏻
i know its a little late but it might still be a good idea; subaru makes a turbo failure engine flush which is a diesel like oil you add to the oil and run the engine for 20 mins and it really cleans out the engine. like $40 or less from a subaru dealership.
Went to crank it with all the plugs out and four guys are like “oh man the spark plugs” ..... 🙄
For it to be reliable you need to drain and purge the entire fuel system, install a new alt and starter. Drain and purge the power steering. Bleed the brake system too.
Why bleed the brake system tho?
I've been waiting on this upload
Finally video came out lol, was waiting for it all these days
