Boy, this brings back memories ! When I was eleven years old . We lived up in the mountains of s. Calif. I went fishing one day, on my way home , I heard a baby crying . It was a young fawn that lost his mother. He ran down the hill and jumped into my arms. I could not believe it. I raised it for about six months. It would wake me up in the morning sucking my ear lobe. When it started to get horn sprouts , I took it up to a Girl Scout camp near Green Valley lake. They took care of him until he was old enough to make it on his own. What a memory .
Lovely story.
I have a couple nature stories better unbelievable. Makes me believe in God all that much more

Mother deer are excellent mothers! If you find a baby lying by itself, don't touch it! The mother is not far, just looking for food or a water source. Sadly, if a baby gets hit by a car or dies, the poor mother will cry out for days. Thanks for your videos--very relaxing and pretty to watch!

I was driving down a hill and saw a mother standing over her dead baby which got hit by a car a few years ago :( she looked so sad

It hurt even more bc out in my area a lot of people speed up to hit animals on purpose (maybe not so much anymore but up until a few years ago yes- I think things have changed at least slightly though over a long period of time... maybe... anyways they also used to run some people off the road and try to kill them too... though the speed limit is so high now that I wouldn’t see myself hanging near the road nowadays either if I could help it), or just don’t care and continue going the same speed

It's normal. Baby deer stay in a place waiting for mommy. You should not touch or remove. Mother will come back. She is finding food and water for herself to be able to nurse the baby deer.

* l stand corrected...it's not the scent, it is the disturbance of the nest/ den area that causes all the trouble.
@crystal15175 :- You are absolutely incorrect in your assumptions.
Many baby animals are temporarily left alone while the Mom goes off to hunt or forage, and should not be disturbed by well meaning humans. It takes very little for a mother to get "spooked" on return to her brood (especially for first time mothers) and for them to then to find the scent* of human predators on their babies. They will and do occasionally abandon their young after finding that they have been handled by curious and concerned people.
It is best to leave the babies in place, watch over them without touching, and if the mother does not return within 24 hours, then consider contacting a rescue or humane society for advice on how to continue.
With baby bear, the return of the mother bear can be dangerous to any human in the vicinity...best to stay away!
*I stand corrected ...it is not the scent, it is the disturbance of the nesting areas or the interference that causes the young to move off, away from mother's site, and then possibly expose themselves to predators.

다큐보니까 어미도 정확한 장소는 기억못하고 대충 근처에서 부르면 애가 나오던데요. 아기사슴도 수시로 자리 옮기는데 멀리는 안가구요. 별일 아닌데 다들 걱정하네요~
@@writer1911 어떤다큐를 본거죠 ㅋ 아기사슴은 스스로 자리를 옮기지 않습니다... 아기 스스로 돌아다닐거면 애초에 왜 숨겨둘까요 ㅋ 아기사슴은 본능적으로 threat이 엄청가까이 오지 않는이상 숨죽이고 가만히 있습니다. 저렇게 사람이 개입할경우 새끼가 멀리 도망가서 어미가 못찾는경우를 떠나서, 제일 큰 위험은 혼자돌아다니다가 포식자한테 먹히는겁니다. 야생동물 새끼는 안건드는게 상식입니다.
사람집가까운데 육식야생동물은 잘안오기때문에 어찌보면 괜찮은선택

So cute. I just love your connection with the chipmunks and other creatures. I used to hand feed the chipmunks peanuts. I had this one squirrel that I could squeak at and it would come up to my porch to grab peanut from my hand. But I had to move so watching these videos gives me good nastalgia. Thank you

My husband was planting in our vegetable garden in the Spring, in Ontario, Canada, in a rural setting. A baby chipmunk and rabbit came up close to him and watched everything he was doing. They were close to each other, like buddies.

Such a delicate fawn... the spots are camouflage- like sun dappled leaves. From my exp with deer, mama may be feeding elsewhere... on instinct, fawns unless forced to, won't move till mama comes back. If there are hunters near by she may have been bagged. I was taught young to leave fawns alone until after dark when it's obvious it's been abandoned.

It's very unlikely the mother was got by a hunter, In most states doe arent allowed to be hunted for many reasons aswell as needing to look after fawns, That and its just morally horrible to hunt doe when its likely they have babies that would die without them.
This fawn is perfectly healthy! Ears are up... That's a sure sign all is well. Mothers leave their babies during the day to forage. They know exactly where their babies are and return to them several times during the day.

I live in the city in Kansas and there were two fawns in our backyard. I wanted to get closer but I didn't. They stayed in the same spot for five hours straight. The mother finally came and they all left. I used my binoculars to get a closer look. It was nice just watching them all afternoon. It rained on them but that did not bother them. fawns don't have any scent - the mother leaves it bedded down safe and comes back to nurse and clean it. The fawn's butt has to be cleaned to stimulate it to poop or else it gets septic shock and dies. You'll know if the fawn is in distress because it will cry out. If they sit quiet and blend in to the surroundings they are OK and should be left alone. The doe comes back and calls out to the baby and it will find her.

It is taught to be perfectly still. That is its only chance of not being killed. That is why it didn't run away. You can see the breathing become heavy but still it does not move until you offer the water. Being still and not moving is how it will stay alive.

As other commenters noted, mama deer just left her baby somewhere where it would be safe. I had the same experience finding a fawn in one of the flower beds in my backyard. My presence scared the little one and it ran away. I was surprised that the fawn on your property took so long to leave.
I am amused by your friendship with the chipmunks. When my father grew up 100 years ago in Washington state, he had a chipmunk as a pet (outdoors, of course).

What a wonderful place you have in the woods! Mama deer will leave babies to go off and graze. The babies know to lie very still - even all day - until mama comes back. So if you find a baby lying down by itself, leave it alone. Mama will come back later. Thanks for the peaceful videos!

The mother surely noted you 2 days before and felt your place would be safe and secure for her fawn.
You got too close and frightened the fawn. They know to stay still unless they feel danger is upon them. I hope it didn't stray too far and the Mother was able to easily find it.
I hope the Mother still feels safe and stays nearby so that you may still see them in the future.

어떤 세상을 보고 오셨기에....
사슴들도 인가에는 천적이 없다는 것을 압니다.
그래서 새끼를 낳을 때, 인가주변에서 낳고, 키우는 경우도 많습니다.
그런데 천적이 그런 인가에 있는 사슴까지 잡아먹는 경우도 있습니다. 아주 배고플때 말이죠.

@카카룽보통 인가근처엔 사슴을 잡아먹을만큼의 큰 동물이 살진 않지만 그거야 모르지요~ 먹을게 없으면 저 너머에서 올수도 있다는 말이죠 저분이 말하는건요.

실제로 본거지만 개 두마리가
한마리는 새끼 물어 죽이고
다른 한마리는 어미 못오게 막는거 본적이 있어요
@카카룽 이미 달려갔을때는 너덜너덜 살 가망이 없었어요
그리고 혹시나 그런상황 발생하면 카카룽님도 참으세요
버려진개들 대부분 맨탈이 제정신 아니에요
무슨병이 있는지도 모르는 상태에서 너무 가까이 가면 물려요
악이 오를대로 오른 애들이에요

Momma deer put the fawn in that spot. She sensed it was a safe place. :)
She will leave the baby for hours each day like that.
You can tell if a fawn is in trouble if you look at their ears. If the ears are curling on the edges and getting limp then mom is missing or the baby got lost or is sick. It means the baby is dehydrated and needs electrolytes. Never give cow milk.
Your fawn had beautiful ears and had eaten well that day.

I am so glad the baby found her momma. She didn't want the water. She wanted momma's milk. That is so cool that they trusted you.
It’s actually very normal for a baby deer to be hiding like this. While the mom eats, the baby hides. But don’t worry, the mom is usually always nearby (you probably just couldn’t see her). And newborns don’t even have any smells for predators to find them. So their hidden very well. And, by looking at the deer, it looks very healthy.
