Ok so, I’m noticing in the comments that a lot of students are talking about their school projects based on Holmes. So my question is, WHY are so many students forced to do school projects on this monster???
I think it's amazing people are being taught about this, I wish my school had done so as well since it's quite interesting and also good for one's safety to know what humanity is capable of.
Jörmungandr I NEVER hear about students being taught on the better things on the opposite end of the spectrum. How about making kids do projects about...I don’t know, not a serial killer, but someone who did some great humanitarian work?? Or how to be better people overall?? It’s supposed to be the parents job to teach children that, I know. There’s just so much more that can be planted into the minds of young adults to better them as people than to learn about this man. Something that will put real values in them.

I quite like this narrator! Especially those paranormal stories.
Yeah, the deep voice really does it.
Its a computer voice. Listen to it closely and the slight pauses between each word

🍔 if you binge watch serial killer documentaries scary movies aren't going to be that scary to you

I've never been scared by scary movies. But after watching the 2000s version of Texas chainsaw massacre after the credits it said it was based off of real events and that scared me.
I don’t get scared when I watch these kinds of content but when I watch horror movies I get really scared lol
Janette Herdfield you should always be safe serial killers looks so normal
I hate scary movies but love serial killer documentaries. One is delivering facts, one is delivering an experience.
We should all hear more about the detective, Geyer, who found the bodies of the kids he killed, both in the US and Canada. What he did was amazing. How did he find them? I’m fascinated by him. He was a hero.
So this is where AHS Hotel was inspired from. And the character of James March too
Imm buzzing for the new film thats coming out about H H Holmes!! Its called ‘devil in the white city’ if anyone cares😀

Once the Pinkerton agency got involved. You were screwed, those guys didn't play around. Thank you for the video 😊
The book about him, Devil in the White City, is one of the only books I liked reading in high school.
If Sweeney Todd was scared of a serial killer. It would be this guy.
this is really educational!

"Them Pinkertons are a constant thorn in my side."
- Arthur Morgan 1899
I remember watching the documentary of him being Jack the Ripper
He very easily could’ve been reports say he was in England at the time and hired people to send notes out when he left
Senali Karunathilake only one of the women Jack the Ripper killed was a prostitute
Yes! That was a good series!
Yeah a relative of his was trying to make the claim. But Holmes was already hanged and buried and they proved he could not be Jack The Ripper
12 34 it is, she was the only woman found inside on a bed. The others were killed simply because they were walking the streets and thus vulnerable. I suggest you read Hallie Rubenhold’s book ‘The Five’ which actually discusses the lives of the canonical five without sensationalising. It is one of the few books that focuses on the victims and works to dispel the myths such as all of his victims being sex workers.

H.H. Holmes confirmed to be able to travel through the stream of time to retrieve a Dewalt power drill bit from the future to use in his murders.
Personally, I like these videos. They’re not what everyone subscribed for but they’re still informative and well made!

I could have sworn he was caught because his neighbors smelled decaying bodies and complained. That must have been a different mass murderer.
I know John gacy's neighbors complained because of the smell, he had mad bodies under his floor boards
Please always do narrations for those with reading impairments. 👍🏻
For more information, I recommend the book “The Devil In The White City” by Erik Larson! It really gives more information on the surrounding situation, with the Chicago World Fair and the reasons how he managed to kill everyone - such as the fact that he sold the skeletons of his victims to colleges and hospitals! It’s really interesting.
This and the Hotel Cecil in Los Angeles were the inspiration for the American Horror Story season Hotel :)
these vids always help me fall asleep??
Holmes had a terribly messed up home life. I did a research paper on him, and both his parents were highly abusive. I could spend hours talking about how things that happened in his youth lead him to be how he was, but I don't have the time

I'm glad you guys talked about H.H. Holmes. I read "Devil In The White City" and I gotta say H.H. Holmes was a cunning and sinister being. The most disturbing part was that he sold the skeleton of some of his victims to use at schools.(I think it was sold at schools but its been 4 years since i read it so I'm not 100% sure.)

They went over the part of about the murder house and him seducing and murdering young women so fast, this sounds wrong, but I want details...
Ryan and Shane is soon going to get their own thing outside of Buzzfeed sooo that means they'll have more control and freedom with the contents so buckle up guys 👌

I wonder what the builders thought while they were making it
AbnormalLemming Another YT doc said Holmes was constantly hiring and firing workers, so each only did a small part, hoping no one would be suspicious of the big picture.
The other guys voice was the main reason I watched these videos his voice gave me chills
Holmes also wrote a book while in prison stating he didnt do it. He also stated why he couldn't have done it which I think is hilarious.
Honestly I do not want to watch buzz feed without Shane and Ryan!
please do a video on the haunted lemp mansion in st. louis!!

I personally find it hilarious that, like Al Capone, he was picked up on unrelated charges. I’m also tickled the Pinkertons were involved.
Bruhhh I remember watching a show on TV and they were talking about this dude it's so scary hearing about him again
6 feet 140-155 lbs god damn that's damn thin.
Thanks slot, the blown light bulb at 1:15 made my OCD act up so bad I couldn't concentrate on the video!🤬💡
The book Devil In the White City covers Holmes and the Exposition really well and is a great read.
Maybe I missed it but they should have mentioned his quote, “I was born with the devil in me. I could not help the fact that I was a murderer, no more than the poet can help the inspiration to sing.. I was born with the evil one standing as my sponsor beside the bed where I was ushered into the world, and he has been with me since.”
I'm still disappointed that the movie about him with Leonardo Di Caprio didn't pan out. There's a book about this guy called, Devil in the White City. It's an amazing read and they were basing the movie off it. It basically shows the parallel realities of Holmes and his activities with the World's Fair going on at the same time.

Buzzfeed should do one of these over the Carr brothers from Kansas. I just heard about it and it’s intense.
Oh, Jesus, that's the Wichita Massacre, isn't it? The home invasion with the rapes and the murders?
I've read *a lot" of True Crime cases, that one really haunts me.
I would support raising awareness of the case with a well made documentary. I'm not sure if it would be something for Shane and Ryan to cover, only due to the considerable amount of sexual assault that took place, which doesn't leave too many options for...jokes.
But I agree, it's something Buzzfeed should consider covering. People should know what happened.
You actually missed a child of the Pitezel family. There were four pictures but you said five children. The children were Dessa, Alice, Nellie, Howard and Horton. Their child that died was named Neville.
Truly an inspiration to millions of sims players around the world

i did a project on him junior year in my history class!
There is a famous quote that is thought to have been said (I'm not sure of its validity) by HH Holmes.
"I was born with the devil in me.
I could not help the fact that I was a murderer, no more than a poet can help the inspiration to sing."
I like that they conveniently left out the fact that Holmes actually had a son and wife at one point.
It's terrifying how easy it once was for murderers and con artists to just disappear and create a new identity and start all over.
By the way, I don't recommend reading too much detail about Holmes' crimes. He was so disgusting.
Uhhh do another buzzfeed unsolved pls cause I’m home alone and need something to watch until I brush my teeth and edit
U should do one on Albert fish
This became buzzfeed solved
Fun fact: the appearance of Tom Hardy's character in gruesome series Taboo was partly based on HH Holmes.
Devil in a white city was a great book about H.H. Holmes

Lol this is perfect because I’m doing a report on him right now !😃
If anyone else is interested in this, I'd recommend the book The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. I've been reading it in my English class, and it's really interesting.
One POV is of Daniel Burnham, an architect who worked on the World's Columbian Exposition in 1983. His part goes through his struggles building the fair, and his life, etc. I'll admit, some of his parts are kind of boring but if you read past those, it's kinda cool.
But the other POV (the more interesting one IMO) is of H.H Holmes. It goes into more detail about how he constructed his "castle" and his killings.
The thing I liked best was it was written like fiction but it's 100% true.
gimme the DiCaprio-Scorsese movie already, please!!
