The fact that you got doxxed and threatened for your heritage is seriously messed up. You can't change where you come from.

The future worries me-
It seems weird that this keeps happening repeatedly throughout history. Quite consistently, too. Even throughout different cultures.

what??
i have a friend called Anatoly, Hes Half Argentinian, Half Syrian.
He is also jewish, which i know sounds weird but hear me out, Last year, he got attacked by some………… extremely racist people, they found out he wasnt a mexican catholic, and he was a Argentinian-Syrian Jew, and they jumped him in the middle of the night with his family, they found out who he was because he had a Facebook page and thats where they found out everything about him, and almost killed him, rn he is fine, but if they stabbed him 2 inches to the left of his kidney, he would have been paralyzed
I want to spread Awareness about this issue and help people that are in danger like my friend, people with different religions and ethnicities are still human.

As a Black Jewish woman, the type of discrimination I receive because I am not a European Jew is insane. Thanks for making this video :)
I have a question. How is it that you Jews don't believe in Jesus Christ and what kind of religion has a portion of text from another religion? I respect your religion I'm just curious because I have a Christian upbringing.
@@jazzyland628 I'm not jewish so take this with a grain of salt, but the tanakh (the holy book you say has a portion of text from another religion) is older than the bible, so you could say the bible is the one who has a portion of its text from a different religion ahah. in terms of not believing in jesus, its not like most jewish people don't believe in jesus, they just don't believe he is the son of god (like a lot of atheists, agnostics and most religious groups). also for future reference saying "you jews" sounds a bit aggressive especially when followed by questions asked in the tone yours are asked. stay frosty
@@jazzyland628 I hope this question was asked in good faith and Im not about to get trolled, but as it happens, your religion took our text, not the other way around. Judaism came first, as you probably know, seeing that Jesus was a Jew
@lucio6659 you are obviously so ignorant. For starters his use of "Jews" is not aggressive its a word. Second, they believe Jesus is the son of God, but he hasn't come yet.
@@Ariel-ps8jeWe didn't "take" Jewsish text. We use it because it's the prophecy for the New Testament. It's like the whole picture or story.
I'm not Jewish, but I have a lot of empathy. Being Black, I know that any kind of abuse for any group outside of the norm opens up abuse for everyone who is considered outside of the norm. We all need each other and to stand up for each other.
I appreciate you as a Jew so much. I've gotten doxxed online very recently for showing videos of me speaking Hebrew or showing my outfit for the temple. Jewish hate is on the rise and us Jewish people can only do so much. We're only believed by so many people. So other minorities supporting us is often not only warm and fuzzy, but life saving. 😊
Jewish and black activists working together did a lot for the US in the 20th century. Hopefully the same camaraderie between even more groups can get us to a better place in the future.

Good on you for trying to get to the core of who you are. I love that people ribbing you about something so minor in your life inspired you to get more in touch with it thats the kind of power move i respect. Religion has been a sore topic lately and I have been feeling the antiwave with how much I spent online and its alwase good to be reminded about how lables dont make the person and judging before you get to know a person is pretty awful. However Im still pretty concerned about how quick people are to censoring opinions on this topic. If only the world had cooler heads and clearer visions we wouldnt have to fight over the silliest little things. Its really scary how much religion is used to control too instead of uplift in many cases. In the end all i really want is freedom to speak my mind and form my own opinions and find my own way. So respect on forging your own path and taking strength from your bloods past and as long as you do good may good come to you.

As a jewish person im sorry if other jews said that, but you shouldn’t think that every jew thinks those hateful things or place that responsibility on all jews. I appreciate you and every religion and I think we are all brothers and sisters in the end :)
It sucks that people suck so bad, I'm an atheist myself, but the idea that people should be able to limit other peoples beliefs, personally, just rings to the same tune as limiting the thoughts people can have, which is inherently detrimental to the mental state of people, you don't know how someone came to the conclusions they did on faith, you cannot know their journey, you can only choose to demonize it or accept it as it is, and a lot of people, even on my side think that progress means getting rid of these cultural phenomenon, but as it goes, as someone who believes in nothing but cold hard science, taking away the one thing someone has to believe simply because they feel comforted by it is one of the worse things you can do to someone.
To ramble a bit more, some of the nicest people I've ever known were religious, some of my old neighbors were sikh and because I was older, my mum had me help keep their kids occupied(which resulted in a lot of listening to the gummy bear song... oh god... anyway) they were some of the nicest people I've ever known and some people just hate them because skin not white, all I'm saying is when my parents went away, the mum brought over a big platter of their traditional foods and it was so good, and it's less about the food and more because they help in kind, they were always friendly to me, and another thing easy to forget is that, without these religions and cultures, many of the things we have today like food and yearly events we enjoy might just not exist, and I think that would be tragic, frankly.
I am an atheist too but I have considered Judaism and Hinduism im leaning towards Hinduism
I’m an atheist and I’d still rather follow Judaism over Christianity if I had to.

same!! so sweet of her to make this video. ❤️
Small question, though.
Why did she said about being worried about appropriation?
I did not understood that part
@@Tactical_TailgaterI think she meant that she was worried that she wasn’t Jewish and was culturally appropriating Judaism. And if you don’t know what “cultural appropriation” means, it’s basically means; the unacknowledged or inappropriate adoption of a specific culture, ethnicity, religion, which is usually done by someone who isn’t educated on said culture
As well as said person usually faces very little discrimination against their own ethnicity and culture which makes it all the more problematic because they’re *appropriating a culture.*
this video came at a perfect time. the crazy amount of antisemitism happening around the world is terrifying, and i'm not even jewish. i'm worried for all my jewish friends, the stuff they tell me about the hate they experience is shocking.

Ironic she uses Satan to teach him what he already knows. Anti-semitism is on the rise because Satan wants the Jewish people dead. If all Jewish people die, then Jesus Christ, God himself, the actual Messiah they denied 2000 years ago, can’t come back. Blindness is come unto the Jews until the fullness of the Gentiles. Romans chapters 9-11.
The prophet Zechariah prophecies that Jerusalem during the 70th week of Daniel will be a stumbling block for all nations, that the idol shepherd from chapter 11 will persecute and kill 2/3 of the Jews, and the 1/3 of Jews who survive will look on God, whom they have pierced, from Zechariah chapter 12, every single Jew that survives will be saved by the Lord Jesus Christ, whom the Jews pierced 2000 years ago.
Satan will indwell the idol shepherd at the midpoint of the 70th week and seek to kill all Jews. Every Jew on the planet will run to Israel soon because antisemitism will be the norm.
The solution to this? Turn to the Lord Jesus Christ, the true Messiah, who came to wash away our sins, God who provided HIMSELF, as the spotless lamb. If you turn to him now, you will be spared from the coming Great Tribulation, the time of Jacob’s trouble.

wow that sounds awful. the fact that people are still so antisemitic nowadays is mind boggling. i hope you were able to heal from that experience 💖
I'm not Jewish, I'm Christian but I relate to people assuming everything and everyone is a monolith because I see so many people who treat us like we all act the same like we're all Frollo from the hunchback of notre dame or something when that couldn't be further from the truth it's like they'll take the worst or most hypocritical members of a group of people then treat everyone in the said group as they all act like those aforementioned people, it's infuriating and I get unnecessary hate just because of the religion I follow they'll take the hypocrisy of some individuals and apply that to the religion itself they'll say it's the religion that's hypocritical and not those particular followers of it and I hate it so much it sucks and I'm sorry we live in a world where people do this crap.
I had a pretty good experience with people who aren’t aware or familiar with it. Heck one of them became fascinated by our history, culture and religion.. i was happy to see that some people genuinely care about these things and wish to make the world a better place

As a Muslim who doesn't know much about other religions, this video really helped me learn about your cultural heritage and understand your problems. Thanks for another amazing video that, as a bonus, helped me empathize with you.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, (some people call us Mormons, but that name originated as a hateful slur, so we don't really use it anymore) I can sort of sympathize with this. The fact that I was kind of scared to even comment my religion just now might give you an idea of how rough society is on us. People can be so hateful. I remember one time, I went to church with my family, and someone had spray painted a nasty word on the side of the building, because of hateful rumors that have been spread. It doesn't help that there are a couple splinter groups that have some horrible things, who people still associate with us EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. It really makes me sad, and scared honestly.
As a fellow member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I get what you mean we get such a bad reputation because other families forcing it upon their own children but honestly every religion will have crazy families also being called a cult and people basically making fun of missionaries who are just doing their callings so yeah basically I’m happy there is someone who is a member because compared to like catholics there’s not a lot of people

Baseless hate still sucks though ;(

I’m not Jewish, but I appreciate what you said in this video. Thank you for being very understanding with everything you said, and in general just trying to make the world a better place.
The even more unfortunate part is that Jewish people aren't the only ones who get attacked/harrassed/forced to assimilate (in the closet) for being a minority or marginalized group.
The unfortunate truth is that a good amount of people have to either hide a part of themselves or be harrassed for it by someone. And even if they do hide it, someone could find out somehow.
If we lived in a world where only Jewish people were harassed for their identity, it'd be a lot better world. But still incredibly awful and unfair to people who don't deserve it.
We don't live in that world, unfortunately. And no one's experience is any less valid because another may have had it worse or is also mistreated.
I just hope that one day we can all be more knowledgeable and open about people and identities not of our own and understand each other better. The world then would be much better than we have now.
Another thing that makes it hard to call out bad behavior is that hate is often mingled with or disguised as politics or opinions. Some even attempt to make people calling them out or uncomfortable with them as the "actual" oppressors because they're "silencing" them because the person callling them out has major issues with what they're saying. "It's just my opinion bro. Stop being so sensitive and trying to silence me.
You can't control my speech because this is 'Murica."
Ex.: Trans people requesting to be respected with the right name/pronouns, people asking someone not to say slurs, Jewish people not wanting to be harrassed and asking for someone not to spread misinformation, etc.
I'm hopeful that the world can become much better but it does look bleak right now.
As long as we do our best to let love, knowledge, and understanding outstand hate, ignorance, and fear we are doing what we can to make this world better.
This can be done in infinite ways and at almost any time. But, they all contribute to the world toll of kindness, respect, and plunging of hate/harm.
In a perfect world, no one would be harrassed, but we can all do our best to make our world better. Even though it will never be perfect.

Huh?
By the way i am a secular jew from israel amd i can explain why : " ledor vador " means "from generation to generation " .
Dor ( דור )
"means "generation
ve( ו)
Means "and" but it in gebrew you can say "and" simular to how english use "to"
Le ( ל )
in here i think there was a mistake on translation . "le" is actually the word hebrew uses to turn past verbs into verb names and we also use it insted of words like "in" and "for" but ironically enough it does not use as alternative to "from" , the correct meaning of "from" in "(מ)hebrew is "me .
So the correct translation will be :
"Medor ledor"

It's crazy both how similar and how different experiences I have had to the one described in the video. My mother is Lutheran, and my father is Jewish. My paternal grandma has been (and still is) horrible to my mother for never converting. I was raised Jewish but am secular and non-spiritual. I feel a bit like an imposter even though I was raised Jewish, but am not considered Jewish by some Jewish people.
Even within what I would call a very progressive and inclusive reform Jewish community in Southern California, I have seen and felt a pushback on interfaith Jewish families. This includes from the (now previous) Rabbi of the Synnogauge I would go to as a kid and teen. It makes it hard for me to want to pass on traditions to any possible future children when I myself am in an interfaith marriage, and may not have myself or family welcome into that space.
It's so amazing to see a video tackling a subjects and subject matter like that. Keep up the great work!

As a person who's culturally Muslim, and recently started doing Ramadan and Eid again, it's great to see videos like these. Even if I don't believe in god, even if I don't do things like hajj, it doesn't make me less worthy of my heritage. It certainly won't make people treat me any differently than people already do! So great to see someone in a similar situation, and maybe you can learn some Yiddish or Hebrew along the way :)
I don't wanna sound mean or anything but Islam and its practices aren't cultural, they're religious, while a jew can refer to a person following the Judaism faith, a person who is ethnically jew, or someone's nationality.
Eid-al-fitr and eid-al-adha are Islamic holidays, not a cultural one, anyone can celebrate it, and anyone can fast, but the term culturally muslim is misleading and to my knowledge, incorrect.
Additionally, hajj is a religious practice, no non-muslim can go to hajj, as Mecca, where the ka'bah is and parts of Medina, the second most holiest site in Islam, are restricted to non-muslims.

And please, do not generalize that you will get hate "crimed" by muslims, this itself is for the lack of a better word, discrimatory or "racist" (again, it's for the lack of a better word, muslims aren't a different race, and anyone can become a muslim, with any skin color).

I can’t believe Night by Elie Wiesel was banned. I read it in 8th grade and as my grandparents being holocaust survivors, it hit hard because of the suffering and torture they went through.
yeah we were REQUIRED to read that in my middle school too, especially since i went to a jewish school. so sad to see that it’s banned now…ugh…those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it
we didn't have that, but we had to read Anne Frank's diary in 7th grade. And then a year later a novel written in the form of a diary that hits a lot closer home because it is set in my home town and it's about the yugoslav wars (there was no ethnic cleansing in the city most of the story is set in, there was some pretty infamous ones about 40 km away, plus having close family members who actually lived through the constant shelling then being refugees and actually knowing some of the people in the story hits close to home).
I was shocked that my friends didn’t know anything more than very base level discrimination from WW2. They cried a ton while reading Night in 9th or 10th grade and when I asked why, I was like “Wait. You didn’t know about that?”, and they seriously didn’t know. It felt surreal, because I had heard about assimilation from my Grandparents, so I assumed it was more common knowledge.
Then I got doxxed as an adult for being Roma which was really confusing (in American culture at least) and terrifying. Whenever I see xenophobic and/or antisemitic behavior going up I get nervous because it quickly spills over to other marginalized groups as well.
After reading Night I broke down and cried for at least an hour, and I would never deprive that experience from another person, that kind of thing is important.
That part of this video also stood out to me as absolutely ludicrous. I've attended "Read Banned Books" rallies more than a decade ago and I thought that at this point banned books would be a thing of the past... Sad to hear that isn't the case

I can relate to this because I’m Muslim. A modern Muslim and I am sick and tired of people harassing my fellow Muslims and calling them terrorists😡 let’s try to get along across religions please 🙏
Yep, and i have seen muslims harassing other people that have different religions or don't have a religion at all. 🤦🤦 Like, it's just a religion guys, why do people get so serious about it?
But Israel does not have any excuse to exist though.
I didn’t mean to cause any drama 😠 I am just saying that if people didn’t pick on each other do to religion or lack there of, the world would be a much better place 😔🙂😀😄

thanks for coming out illumation!
Hi Illymation! Thank you for making this video. As a Jewish person living in North America, it's getting really isolating in recent months. I am sorry you've had such bad experiences. I hope we can all learn from the past.
