- Living off the land takes a lot of time, effort, experience and knowledge and this past year brought me a few steps closer to my goal of providing 90% of my food from hunting, fishing, foraging, growing, raising, cooking and preserving. Now that I have systems in place and good locations to gather from the wild and the garden, preserving food for long term off-grid storage is my next greatest challenge.

I remem beginning watching him when he had just under 50k or less. He was hunting/fishing/bush crafting i guess you call it. The quality of his photography & videography captured my attn., esp since he was from CAN. I have relatives there. Then he began his outhouse & then started on his cabin,etc. His creativity & intelligence is amazing not to mention the fact everything he does is excellent in quality! I can see his subs going even higher. If not, ppl just dont know what theyre missing!!! Cheers to ya Shawn! 🤗🍻

Yes it is!!! I fall a sleep to the sounds 😊 tried to sleep apps with their music it didn’t work. The sounds of the Saw The hammer the sounds of nature is so much more soothing in those musical apps. Thank you so much. God bless be safe and enjoy your life.

Wouldn't I just love a man who can build things, is self-sufficient, logs his own timber, catches/raises his own food and can cook! How much wonderful is here in one man? The skills he possesses will stand the test of time and allow him to survive anywhere. This is great to watch. Thank you so much for the rerun. What I love the most is the lighting of fires in order to cook a meal. Truly uplifting.

Have you ever considered writing a book on all the things you can make to survive in nature? Plants, salves, tools, drinks, construction. Even an outdoor survival cookbook!!It is amazing how much you know. If you ever get time to write!!! You keep so very busy always

I actually like dialogue, it explains what’s happening and provides insight on how he does what he’s doing.
Shawn produces two types, with & w/o commentary. I too like the ambiant shows, the white noise effect it has on me puts me to sleep in my chair everytime.😏 Not that it's boring...just the affect of every YT vid that is ambiant.

I find it astounding that you go out, hunt for food, pull the feathers, singe it, build a fire, and make a gourmet meal just for yourself. You remind me of my oldest son. When I’m alone, I open a can.
You need to love yourself and treat yourself, invest in the effort. Feels good. Steps to hapiness. ;)

Man, this is great. I am following you since ages. This is, what life should be. Not just a desire, 99,99% of us will never be able experience.
Instead we're running our jobs to make money and hope being able to pay for vacation once a year.
If i had a chance, i would instantly switch my current life for something similar.
Yet here I sit in Germany, where i'm not even allowed to stay over night in a forest if it does not belong to me.
Watching these videos is pure joy and keeps me sane. Keep it up and never stop!

There's a huge difference between slaughtering, and harvesting food. If there was any form of slaughtering on Shawn's channels, I wouldn't be here at all. Stay safe and well.

We know who they are, and they are very unhappy people.
People may give a thumbs down for many reasons. A lot of followers may like to see only NEW CONTENT. SJ seems to have nothing going on this time of year, not sure, none of my business.. I find a lot of KRplus channels keep posting titbits of previous Videos. Easy money, especially for someone like SJ who is so well liked by 1.7 million plus subscribers. I also believe a lot of SJ's followers may not like to see the slaughter of animals, especially when one has the means to buy protein in meat form from grocery stores or local butchers.Thats a choice a subscriber can make and shouldn't be judged for having issues, or being a heathen or labeled unhappy. Usually people who judge and chose to be abusive to someone who doesn't agree with their thinking, get temporary joy criticizing someone who is not part of your" herd mentality thinking". SJ's channel brings joy and escapism to so many people, for their own personal reasons that don't need too be judged. Just LIVE And LET LIVE. Theres enough hate going on in the world , don't bring it here. A simple Thumbs down is nothing in the grand scheme of the KRplus world. Understand its just a business.

Mr. James, when you toasted up that "pie" with the fry bread, homemade cheese, and barbecued bear meat, I just about swallowed my tongue. It was great to see it again. It was a good thing I had recently eaten breakfast, tho.
My favorite parts of the year were watching you plan out, plant, and bring to fruition that huge garden. This was followed by cooking in the forest kitchen, the camping trip, Cali's Pond, and building the screened porch. Then there were just the many well-chosen, high-def shots of serene wild country. Watching the sun rising and setting, the foliage of every color I can imagine, the water flowing in myriad courses takes me all but there. The bird calls, trickling, crackling, the wind sighs, and insect songs complete the experience.

I love the production technique, keeping the viewer totally there with you, the shoots must take so much time, and data storage would be an endless hassle. Your edit skills and choices of sound, perfect. It is no wounded you have a following, doing the lifestyle is one thing but the unseen story must be immense. When I was 16 flew up to Sashketchican to a fishing lodge. Fished all morning for Walleye. Lunch on the lake bank, the guide had a paper bag, some flour, crisco, salt, pepper, bread and canned fruit. Guide dressed fish, put flour in bag with salt and pepper, shook, fried in cast iron skillet in some lard. Best fish I ever had in life, canned peaches from the can for dessert. Afternoon we fished for walleye, muskie and pike. Back at camp guide took fish, cleaned, cut and frozen for transportation back to states. Best ever fishing trip, we went 2 times!
