Just watch highlights, kids a stud
New englander homer and Pats fan here… I’m worried about this pick. He’s missing 10-15 yard throws against air!!?? 😓👎👎. Something is missing with this guy.
You can’t draft this QB with WR1 & WR2 still on the board. We should’ve drafted Malik Nabers… Drake Maye is a project. I’d rather invest that time in a QB further down the draft board than miss out on guaranteed playmakers. Give me Joe Milton in the 3rd or 4th Rd instead.
These are so much better without the music
💯
And when you can see the pass and where it goes 😂
Yeah
krplus.net/bidio/ma1uppp6qni6YXosi=RFCgfJDEQ6zjbyG5
Very raw and talented prospect.
I Don’t care what yall saying, you got one of the greatest WRs in Steve Smith saying this kid is throwing dimes! Stop hating on this kid! Let him live.😂😂
There’s no harm in speculating, heck that’s what this whole process is meant to flush out, whether he got it or not. No doubt the young man is going to find success, this is part of the deal though
2:52 Yeah, "Dimes"
@@reggiegarcia07 facts! It was just good to hear a NFL great give the kid credit. I feel like Maye has been given the short end of the stick these last few weeks. He’s not perfect but he’s not far off either.
That was a bad missed throw there. Imagine if he had a 250 linebacker running down his throat. Yikes
Go watch Bryce’s pro day and interview with Steve smith last year 😂 he knows nothing about qb evaluations
Maybe 2 percent of the people commenting have ANY idea what they are seeing or talking about. Everyone thinks they are a scout.
😂😂😂
They have the option to give their opinion as do you
@@FinFlex107_great answer 😂
and most NFL scouts still bust on 80% of QB's
I just wonder if you put yourself in the 2%?
Does the ball go to the reciever? Okay cool. If not. Not cool bru
Dang, Drake Maye and his WRs balled out! Maye got more in sync and accurate as the session progressed. His WRs also improved their draft stock, for sure!
Reminds me of the Great Mitch Trubisky. A solid Backup QB drafted in the 1st round.
Man stop it he wasn’t no 6’5 with touch. He didn’t even look like a qb on pro day
Casual
He has an oddly slow wind up.. idk why but it’s not super slow but seems like there’s a little hitch in his throwing motion
Philip River's was and is his mentor
He seems calm and collected to me
This is him with zero pressure lol. He’s screwed at nfl level, will see ghosts
His haters are oddly slow
@@maskcollector6949yes. Tim Tebow slow awkward delivery.. folds under pressure unlike McCarthy who thrives on it.
Pff scouts agree.
Drake's ankle dexterity is second to none. (In other words, I have no idea what to think other than he did a good job. Watching live game action is a better indicator than a Pro Day.)
Golf clap
Let's GOOOOO baby! PATS NATION STAND UP! 🇺🇸
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
He's got a cannon and did a nice job at throwing off balance. Any team would be lucky to have him. GL Drake
A cannon? Williams, Penix & Daniels have way stronger arms. Maye under throws almost every deep ball.
@@WheresWaldo05 No. They do not. Drake mayes arm strength is huge. He's not as a good a thrower as williams or Daniels, especially williams, but his arm is "bigger".
@@WheresWaldo05they all make bad decisions pretty consistently. Maye is clearly the smarter and more consistent
Honestly he looks good. Few things he needs to clean up but he clearly has the talent
He is not a 1st rounder
@@RUTHLESSambition5I’ll put my house he doesn’t leave the top 5
@@boding1395 I've got him going to the Falcons @ 8! (he needs an experienced vet like Cousins to mentor him, don't wanna quite feed him to the wolves yet...)
@@SeanTheDon-vj4kwKirk just got 4 years
@@dannythomas9623 Yeah, but he's also coming off an Achilles tear injury and being on the IR list! Would you trust him to play a full season?
Seems like every time I watch his highlights the receivers are waiting on/slowing down to get a lot of his passes.
I thought the same thing.
This is why i would never ever draft him. Not even in round 7. A bust is a bust. Regardless which round he is picked.
@@WheresWaldo05not even round 7 is wild😂 bro must know more than every nfl scout
Why wouldn’t he? NFL scouts miss all the time bud.
@@WheresWaldo05I’ve been saying the same thing, why would someone waste a pick on the ONLY QB in the DRAFT CLASS to get worse in completion percentage and QBR every year, yet increased INTs thrown. I’m not wasting a Day 2 pick on him, and some drafts have him top 3 🤣
I think this shows what everyone’s been saying from the start. He’s talented. But he’s raw. The good thing is he’s young. Drafting him will be a coin toss.
if thats raw how would you describe daniels who missed more throws and had much worse footwork?
Maye has awful footwork stop capping lol. Any pressure and he’s off balance
Agreed. Why I wouldn’t take him top 3.
@andrewevans7229 You can't be serious.
So you want to compare a pro day vs a Qb who had 40 passing Tds, 10 rushing tds, 4 Ints, 3800 yards, 95 qbr against the SEC. Oh also won a Heisman.
Drake Maye 24 passing tds, 3600 yds, 9 ints, 9 rushing tds 76 qbr in the ACC.
So your comparing pro days? While the actual game stats are in favor of Daniel's.
Seriously how did Maye get rated no.2 overall? Nothing to justify it and many experts agree.
Penix, Mccarthy and Bo Nix are more NFL ready.
With the 13th pick the Raiders take Drake Maye.
@@MARZOSIRUS Cause whoever pushes him that high simply aren't experts lol. They're media members. They want the generic qb.
He could throw a ball 130 yds and people would complain it wasnt 140
But they will always find an excuse for Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels or Penix jr. Wonder why...
per game?😏
@@EnriqueFloresSanz nah, they're also hating on Caleb.
@@stillstillstill4607 haha you're so funny. I literally a ball
A ball = one throw
Genius
I mean, they wouldn't be wrong... it wasn't 140 :/
Nah people are not seeing how good maye actually is
Stop glazing
Exactly this is secondary to a real pro day...in the NFL first game starting..nothing like this
Everyone knows the talent is off the charts but his game film does leave a bit to be desired. I definitely do see him being a good NFL QB though.
The ones that matter do.
Let them sleep
As a Patriots fan, I can’t decide on Maye or McCarthy 🤷🏻♂️
Drake makes the deep throw look effortless. Look at those rainbows. Today's throwing session had a good mix of touch, accuracy, and deep ball. I think with multiple reps along with good supporting cast of players will likely develop into a quality starter.
We have a lot to choose from this year. If history repeats itself, we'll be lucky to see two of these QB's with a starting job in the next 4 years.
What got me was how after the last two seasons he was the consensus 2nd QB off the board, possibly first. Now, nothing has changed, he’s dropped to third or maybe fourth. It was accepted that UNC had a difficult season, there was little depth at WR and the OL play wasn’t great and this affected Maye output. That’s on the coaches and recruiting but Maye is the one that is getting hurt by that.
He is a talented kid, he has all the tools and you could see he wanted to work on the missed throws. But equally no QB in the NFL is perfect every game and hits every throw, so he shouldn’t have to be at the pro day either.
I like how they moved the sticks . Did some goal line passes I don’t think I seen that wit the other pro days
Every year people find a prospect to criticize without real reason this year that’s drake Maye can’t believe people think he gonna be a bust
Don't forget McCarthy and his lack of throws and taking a team on his back late in games. So no, it is not just Maye. They both deserve it.
Well, here's the thing. Nobody knows how any of these prospects will do at the next level.
Statistically he has some major red flags that people are concerned about. One of the lowest accuracy’s last year ( ranked 59th in QBs with over 100 throws) and 56% accuracy against ranked teams. He’s also the ONLY QB in the DRAFT CLASS to decrease in QBR and completion %, yet increase in INTs every year he’s played. Not worth a Day 1 pick but I’m no scout, they can draft this bust.
@@hunterbengry8290So did Josh Allen, you are projecting a player when you draft them he is only 21.
@@mayowaerinle6541 well that’s not true. He increased his completion percentage, got hurt his last couple games, no receivers of his got drafted ( Drake Maye has 1-2 going ) and scouts were worried about his turnover percentage…. Which he had the second most turnovers in the NFL last year at 21 turnovers. Good comparison though, Drake Maye is like the Walmart version of Josh Allen.
Smooth as butter
I've done a little scouting. I played some ball and even coached some ball and taught a couple of good QBs how to throw. Everyone thinks they know how to throw and worse thinks they know how everyone SHOULD throw. Different bodies different motions. No two are the same. All you can do is improve on whatever talent they already have. Refine their skills so to speak. But by the time you get to the Pros your Motion should be set in stone. Sure they can work on your footwork, but they ain't messing with your motion unless you've got a hitch ala Tim Tebow or a big wind-up like Brian Leftwich. Mainly all of that should be worked out already. But your release? That ain't being taught at this point. If you've got a slow motion and a slow release you're a back up at best. You're going to get picked a lot, sacked a lot, benched a lot.... And Retired early.
I cannot wait till my Patriots draft him but I really like Jaden too. All the pressure is on Washington. I believe they are both going to be elite, so it does not matter who Washington takes to be honest. if I had to choose I guess I would take Drake only because I’m just concerned about Jaden taking so many hits in the NFL. Drake looks like he will be able to endure more. He has a thicker body. Jaden, though is a rocket ship. It’s crazy how good they are going to be I believe.
I love both tbh and I won’t be mad if we pick either of them as a Patriots fan too.
You’re crazy. Jayden Daniels is WAY more accurate and way more mobile. Maye has a nice arm but his tape is too inconsistent and he even had some horrible throws here against air. Daniels is going to be much, much better in the pros.
I agree with you. I want them to draft Maye as well but it’s all on Washington
@@DPMixingMaye is also only 21 years old, hes going to have to sit for a season or 2.
His arm is live. Gets the ball out on intermediate routes with some pop. I don’t like his deep throw style because they look like moonballs. Some of his misses were pretty wild though, and it seemed like mechanical issues that cause some variance in delivery. So he might throw five out routes to the same location, and each throw is a yard away from the other.
90% of qbing is in the head. As far as processing goes, Maye is a step ahead of every QB in this draft class.
He’s gonna look so good in purple and gold.
*red and blue 😮💨
he needs to work on his throwing motion and release point the ball sails on outbreaking routes.
Maye could fit very well in a Stefanski esque playbook which Van Pelt should use in New England. A running game based scheme which use those West Coast Offense routes mostly after some play action situation. He has the arm strengh, his foot work is not terrific but works very well and he can scramble fast enought to allow his receivers to get open field. But Mayo and AVP have to understand he needs to sit for a year though...
He can and his play action looks a lot like Matt Stafford. I just don't like his ball placement and timing. Extremely important factors to the shanahan, Kubiak offense
Patriots have no Wrs. He's going to struggle in that offense.
@@bromontana8100 Man his ball placement bothers me a lot too. I think his passes goes too low, idk. Never saw his pass deflection numbers, but every time I'm watching his tapes this thoughts come to me.
He is very young too. For me he needs to sit for a year for sure. I think the Patriots aproach in the off-season confirms the Maye pick...
@@hx1234 But this year's WR class is very deep even in the lowest rounds. NE can draft some WR in the 3rd or 4th round and he could still be a good piece.
But, in my mind Maye needs to sit for a year so New England would use another draft to pick a receiver higher in 2025...
@@leonardopapazian9068 I think you guys are better off drafting MH Jr first then draft Penix Jr in the second rd or trade back into the end of the first rd and select Penix Jr.
Maybe biggest issue is mechanics especially lower body and footwork. He is raw but has a really live arm and is athletic. He should sit for a year.
Was the video a slow motion? Or is his release super slow???

His long throws looked great, especially on the run. Not sure i liked his lackadaisical throwing motion earlier in the video. Would have liked to see him do more play action at full speed and some back shoulder throws along the side line.

Shid hes definitely top 2 or 3 you gotta look at it like this what if he was on LSU or a powerhouse team he has all the tools a huge arm if his mental processing is there he's a certified hit on a pick as a all pro
Really appreciate the cameraperson for panning back ca. 2:50 so we can get better view of the ball in flight as well as his mechanics. Really sucked watching the Caleb Williams pro day because the camera work was all in way too close. 2:50 on is how it should be done imo
He looked more and more confident as he progressed...
He is fantastic ! I hope the Patriots get him !
You know this kid will be a monster when all anyone can ever say is “it’s not quite Josh Allen.”

As a Vikings fan, I have been on the McCarthy bandwagon. But I'm sure that KOC knows best on what he is looking at. If he feels that he can work with Maye better then I am with him on his decision.
Drake maye looks like Drake parker lmao
He’s going to be a great QB in the NFL. Depending on where he goes
The way he sailed that one guy with no defenders around him is kinda crazy tbh
The LSU selection is the BEST fit for Washington.
He will be the best qb if the draft mark my words

A lot of people have said the Pats might trade down with the Vikings, but I really don’t see that happening. Pats need a QB just as much as the Vikings do
@@pete6705 Only thing that makes it possible with the patriots. Is the patriots need a lot of stuff? So having two first round picks could help them in the long road

Really hope the Raiders grab Tez, with his speed learning under Adams he’ll be a killer
Basically this shows Maye is a project. If he starts his first year it won't be rainbows and sunshine. He has the intangibles though, so on paper he should be a top 10-15 QB in the league with time to develop into a top 6-8 QB.
No one forced him to declare.

Drake has the prototypical size, arm strength, mobility of a modern day NFL quarterback. This year's crop has really good QB prospects. I'm looking forward to the NFL draft to see how this plays out. Drake Maye reminds me of a young John Elway.
Next Sam Howell 😂😂
Howell’s a good player. He had no O Line in WAS
Looks average
Sam is a good player
Similarities:
1) Went to UNC
2)
@@timmyfiller1913 Seriously he’s nothing like Howell. Such low IQ comps to just call a prospect the same player because they had the same logo on their jersey.
His motion is slow. Think Brad Johnson. He can light you up if you give him 4 seconds. But taking a sack at 2 or 3 seconds. Mechanically his form is "Good", but it's just really slow.
Brad Johnson had a way better throwing motion. A stiff breeze could get Maye off target
He looks sort of like a much more athletic Byron Leftwich. He doesn't have as exaggerated of a throwing motion, but he could definitely benefit from an O-Line that can give him an extra half second to account for his wind-up. I'm concerned that when he has to speed things up, how accurate he will be. Great prospect, though. He oozes potential.
I see he throws his deep balls a lil high they tend to sail and thats the reason for the underthrows I would like to see him hit receivers in stride a lil more because in the nfl or Dbacks will break those up overrall he has the arm talent and will be good for a team like minnesota
I’m a professional scout from the university of kukamunga and this is one of the best talents I’ve seen in a long time.
Future Patriot 🤞🔴⚪️🔵
I wouldn't be surprised to see Drake as QB 4 in the draft when it's said and done. His footwork seems to be his biggest issue imo and while that is coachable for sure, he may not be as ready to start as some of the other guys (Williams, Daniels, McCarthy).
3:05 receiver is just waiting for the ball.
Some of this man’s passes were into the stratosphere… that is an issue and when he’s off he’s OFF… however he’s 21yo and has a lot of room to grow. I’d hate to see him play immediately but he’s legit top 3-5 QB potential if he hits. And that’s what makes it hard to pass. Cold nasty Weather won’t limit him either.
I see all the wrs jogging and slowing down at the catch. This doesn't look anything like JJ's pro day. Where's the timing, even the way he's stepping into throws looks weird. None of this was close to game run routes.
JD didn't have a great Pro Day either. But the talent is there... Maye is clunky. Awkward.
As a Panthers fan I'd gladly swap BY for DM💯
I was first on Maye, then switched to JD, now 100 percent Maye YOU are a Washington Commander!
Yep same
Daniels definitely has a quicker and silky smooth release. Maye is good too but many of his throws had guys slowing down. Needs to hit guys better in stride. Besides that he looks good.
This is what exactly happened with me lol. But I still wouldn't getting Daniels if Commanders grabbed Maye. There would be a 15 min period where I would be depressed but then get over it
Better attitude than Caleb Williams. Yet, how QBs react under pressure making critical decisions, and handling the down times is one #1 factor

Wouldnt be surprised if Maye ends up being better than Williams
He won't.

He can be either Joe Ice or Zach Wilson. We’ll see how it plays out. Wish him luck!
Viking
You forgot he overthrown a guy with the ball 50 feet over him on a 20 yard out
I think he will be a good qb
6:02 another throw where he gives his receiver no runway.
QB1
I do not think this should reflect strongly on anyone's opinion. He's out there without pads, without pressure, with a perfect soft tossed snap every time, and these WRs are slowing down so they don't outrun his throw and make him look bad.
It's all a coin flip. Kid looks athletic but that has never been the only thing that mattered in any pro league.
Game film is all you need to watch. He has a lot of josh Allen and Derek Carr to his games. He will make wow throws and then an odd miss. However arm talent absolutely matters.
