I'd love to see what a professional stylist would choose for Shane. It could be fun if they choose a bunch of different styles from lounge wear to high fashion.

Seeing Shane in colorful outfits is so refreshing. I wish he liked it as much as we do. He really looks good

If Shane had his own brand of pj’s I would buy them. He’s helped me be comfortable in my own skin and to try new things whether if it’s lounge wear or something fancy. He’s everything and this relationship is inspirational.

Okay the peacoat is GIVING but Ryland PLEASE take Shane to Old Navy! It is such a basic store but it's like a stepping stone between Walmart and Target and it is size-inclusive. Shane would thrive!!

Suggestion: there’s no reason black can’t be a major part of his new wardrobe. Dark colors in better fitting outfits are going to be way more sophisticated while not feeling foreign to Shane. You can slowly add pops of colors with different shirts. Something as simple as switching out graphic tees for pocket tees will elevate his looks 1000%!

I love how Shane remembers SOOOO many finite details of movies and shows!! Impressive!!!

I think Shane looks so good in that striped shirt! So many of those other looks too. You can tell it's just an uncomfortably drastic change for him because he hasn't stepped out of his comfort zone in so long. I truly believe he has a hard time seeing himself the way others do.

the most respect to Ryland for being a patient, respectful, and supportive partner. those of us who have dealt with body image issues know how insane it can be, but it's especially tricky for those around us who don't see what we see and just want to help. The brown jacket Shane had on in the store was the WINNER! He looked his age and great. He look put together without putting too much effort in👏🏻 Also the Brown compliments his hair in my opinion.

This vid is 4 months old and I don't know if y'all will ever see this comment - but I wish I could come give Shane a makeover. I see his vision! "Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey" - he gravitates toward solid earth-colored neutral clothing, nothing over-the-top like these outfits were (sorry Ryland). I'd give him plain, one solid color with no designs, well-fitting box t-shirts in a variety of colors (but nicer designer brand, good quality, comfortable cotton that's absorbent/doesn't rub or show stains, navy, dark gray, dark green, maroon, black, white); the same brand of jeans he feels most comfortable in BUT in a variety of neutral earth tones (dark green, navy, dark gray, dark brown). Give him basic accessories that don't take a lot of time - 3 belts (black, brown, navy); 3 pairs of shoes similar to the ones he already likes, again just slightly different colors. Very small differences from what he already wears day-to-day, very easy to mix-and-match, doesn't require a lot of planning, subdued and casual. I think he would actually wear those and he wouldn't feel like a different person. Enhancing what he already loves and feels comfortable in!

Shane, those blend of solid lighter colors are everything on you! I especially loved the first outfit. Those colors made your hair look lighter & made your beautiful eyes POP.! And that peacoat was made for you! ❤️

Trying those outfits are such a huge step for Shane I'm so proud of how far he has come in his recovery 💖 It made me so happy to hear him saying he is more comfortable with his body and gives me hope I might get there someday too :)))

I loved the Princess Diaries reference. And kudos to Shane for being willing to step out of his comfort zone and try some new outfits on! I do think it would be really helpful for Shane to get tips and tricks from a Stylist (they offer this service free at Nordstrom and other department stores) where the stylist can help Shane find wardrobe pieces for any occasion that compliment his physique and will make him feel confident and comfortable. 💗 And I love the leopard print luggage! 😍 And you should have stuck with black and hints of color… that is how I had to start branching out from a solely black wardrobe.

I worked in a 5* hotel in Switzerland where this very kind, big guy was staying. He wears 3XL (I know cause he asked for that size bathrobe) and I can honestly say he dressed better than half of the hotel for sure. Patterns, layers, color, he really pulled it off plus he was just the nicest guy. No matter your size, you can have style!

I get the anxiety behind clothes shopping. Ever since I was a child, it's brought on panic attacks in the middle of whatever store I was in. It's a real struggle getting past your own mental blocks but I'm proud you're stepping out of your comfort zone, Shane. You're the most real person out here and you've been a big help in getting past my own mental blocks.

Ryland is good at picking things for himself. Which isn’t a bad thing. I think Shane just needs a personal stylist that can bring outfits to match Shane’s personality and comfort.

the way ryland never publicly tells shane to not say something about how he looks or his weight is so beautiful because personally as a girl who’s been 210 and also 125 because of body dysmorphia joking about how i look or how i feel i look in something is my coping skill because before i would try on a dress it wouldn’t fit and i would either starve myself or make myself throw up to feel better so trust me even though it looks like someone is “bashing themselves” they might be trying to cope. NOW i am aware of how i talk to myself because NOW i don’t want to throw up or starve when something doesn’t fit but i do want to say bad things about myself but now i force myself to say one positive thing about myself. I DID THIS IN MY OWN WITHOUT SOMEONE TELLING ME TO “LOVE MYSELF” OR “ STOP SELF BASHING” instead my boyfriend says “well I THINK you look good in everything” so instead of telling shane “don’t say that” he hyped him up and says something positive “like the jacket is actually really cute” i loves watching this. i love y’all so much

I humbly believe Shane could be correct that a stylist puts together some outfits that work with people with Shane's proportions (not measurements). Styling to proportions would work bcuz it will make most of all Shane's accomplishments & teach him what looks best no matter his "size."

Here’s a couple style tips:
- Vertical lines/stripes: This gives the illusion that someone is taller which creates a more slimming look.
- Darker colors
- Always employ cotton for shirts.
- You can try wearing tops designed for taller guys. I think you’re 6ft? Lol. So something like “XLT / XXLT” might provide the length you like. If you haven’t tried that. Especially for dress shirts.
My husband is 6’5” and with a more luscious bod lol so I help him dress comfortably, confidently & stylish.
But the IMPORTANT THING is you truly are beautiful in anything & everything because you’re great! 😊

I'm late to the party but I loved all of these outfits! The striped shirt was amazing. The peacoat is super cute. Pink hoodie is a winner. The white coat is a keeper. I also really liked the blue jeans. Definitely need other shoes though.

I love that Shane is venturing out and trying new things. It is hard to break out in something you are not used to. Hey Shane, I'm studing Fashion Design in college and I just want to say that I loved seeing you try different clothes and pretty much all of them look great on you. Maybe you feel uncomfortable in them but Ryland would tell you the truth, you look nice. You can wear them and just be yourself.
The staples in fashion that remind you of people and how they may act based on their clothing, try to just live your own life in the garments, and just maybe be a slightly different version of yourself. This can be the you who's not afraid of wearing more colorful clothing. I understand only wanting to wear black clothing so I could just stay in the background, but I got out of that and you can too. Any habits take time to reform.

My body had changed in the past couple years, & I haven't shopped for clothes in a while. If I did, I would stick to the same stuff and never try on new things. I finally took the time to go shopping recently and found a good amount of stuff that I felt comfortable in, and for once didn't focus on the size. Shane's personality is shining through brighter than I've ever seen before. His confidence is blooming and it really shows on the outside. He's made so much progress over the years and this time in his life I think he's at his best. Shane is also lucky to have such a supportive man in his life that has his back no matter what!

The problem with the outfits is that Ryland dresses tacky and Shane doesn't really have a set style. But I'm glad they both tried, and that Shane was brave enough to try other clothes in front of the camera.

As someone who's working in a men's store, I would say Outfit 1 and 3 are the ones for him, he looks good even though he says is not his style, Outfit 2 needs some kind of basic t-shirt under and maybe some shorts if the purpose it's vacation.
