- I’m gonna cut to the chase, if you think this is going to be a tuna melt I am sorry to say, no. No, the Cheese Tuna Sandwich from the Household Searchlight Recipe Book of 1937, which I say incorrectly in my intro, combines tuna with cottage cheese. I’m going to guess there will be no less than at least…hmm…let’s see…15 green face and/or barf emojis in the comments? I mean, a lot of you absolutely hate cottage cheese. I don’t get it, but I respect it. For me this combination, which actually called for seasoning (!) the cottage cheese. So there is that. Not to mention, there’s lemon involved too!

You're eventually going to run out of ways to originally enter the shot in the beginning, and when that happens can i suggest you come down from the top ala mission impossible
or dive in through the window
He needs to come in like they did on the Star Trek original series from the 60s when they got transported somewhere.
I never would have thought to put those ingredients together, but it actually looked really good! I was thinking chives as a plus-up
Best intro yet.
It's always a lot of fun when one of these old "off the beaten path" recipes really surprises and exceeds expectations.
Huh. What else should we be putting lemon slices on. Experiments must be done.
Love the new intro😂
Nice plus up but next time add some celery salt. I make a dip with cottage cheese and one of the ingredients is celery salt. Hello from a rainy Oregon.
"See you later!"? I just got here!
Intro as smooth as a butter sandwich
Had a busy day today, and I've got back home, cracked open a cold one and saw you uploaded. Thank you for making my weekend :)
Right on. Thank you!
Thanks, that looks like a sandwich I would really enjoy. I think tuna and lemon are very good together, and I’m not a cottage cheese hater; I just rarely think to buy it, and the times I do, it languishes in the back of my fridge until it eventually becomes a hostile life form that needs the biohazard containment treatment. This gives me a reason to add it to my grocery list and actually use it all.
ahhh lemon and the cottage combo!!
I have no idea why cottage cheese lovers were ever forced into the closet, but there are many of us and we are proud dammit!
Made one today however mine was chedder melted then tuna mixed with mayo, pinch of salt, pepper and a few dashes of taco seasoning
I adore cottage cheese. I like getting a dry cottage cheese and eating it right out of the container with cracked black pepper, maybe adding some heat. Did the recipe specify a wet or dry cottage cheese?
I have a community cookbook called Beloit Cook Book, compiled by the Beloit Federation of Women in 1914. (Beloit, Wisconsin is where I grew up.) There is a sandwich recipe which intrigued me, and I wanted to share.
Oh, My! Sandwiches
Between 2 slices of well-buttered rye bread, from which the bottom crust has been cut, put 1 thin slices Spanish onion, 1 thin slice brick cheese, 1 hot wiener split, and 1 slice dill pickle. Serve with hot coffee, and pass sugared fried cakes.
Hmm. I was sent this video for some reason. Maybe because I mixed some drained tunafish (happy cats can smell an open tunafish can in their sleep) with a sprinkle of onion powder and a bit of mayo, spread on a rye crisp, topped with a slice of cheddar and microwaved until the cheese melted, but I didn't think the internet is into ESP mode, yet.
I love cottage cheese.
So when are we getting a drone-shot intro
Oh, I like cottage cheese. Hate tuna though. So still a solid 50/50 sandwich for me.
its like a lemon pasta dish
14 grinds. FOURTEEN.
plussed up with "a little more" black pepper.
Stuff all of that into a big ol beefsteak tomato. Eat as is or grate on some Parm and under the broiler for 90 seconds 🙂
I probably would have tried putting capers on it 🤔
I love cottage cheese!
Whoa, I dig that shirt Barry!
Thanks!
odd lemon addition
Now we gotta know... who was just leaving your house? 😂😂
Could we assume it's somebody who vehemently hates cottage cheese?
Just curious - how many have you remade? There are only so many meals and you dedicate a lot of these to sammich videos!
Over 700 so far
Looks like I’m not entirely crazy, I do something similar with salmon.
Wonder what that would taste like with banana ,bacon,an peanut butter 🙂
An "Elvis" sandwich if you made it while drunk.
🤢
2nd 🤢
@@Lettuce-and-Tomatoes Lol thought i would throw that out there , i don't actually like banana or peanut butter
@@Lettuce-and-Tomatoes OMG that's funny because i buy it for a treat for the dog she gets it couple times a week and you just reminded me she is almost out of it 😂
I wonder if this would work as a tuna melt?
When you enjoy a sandwich and "would make it again," do you keep a list or a reference book to all the good ones so you know which ones to make again?
I do indeed
@@SandwichesofHistory is there a place where I can find this list?
I always try to guess how you’re going to rate them. I’m usually pretty close. :)
Same here 🙂
Bye daddy
If you write a cookbook and you put "Cheese" in the title of a dish and give me cottage cheese, I officially hate you. I don't mind cottage cheese, but that's still a bait and switch!
Tuna in oil or water ?
I used in water but prefer in oil tbh
Cottage cheese, unfortunately, gets a bad rap for some reason. I dont get it.
I don't know who you were saying goodbye to, but I think they stole your microphone :(
I can go either way on cottage cheese, but for this recipe I would substitute ricotta cheese
Tuna (cottage) cheese and black pepper sandwich?🤢🤮👎There ya go Barry!
😂 one down
No wonder people were skinny back then.....
would you ever try the burnt toast pumpernickel sandwich from curb your enthusiasm?
