    There's an ECU command for brake bleeding with BMW. It does a complete system flush including the ABS pump. You need to do that to properly bleed BMW's.

    • @timwilliams1910
      @timwilliams1910 5 년 전 +10

      You also bleed the cooling system with the ecu, either by running the bleed cycle by holding the gas pedal with just ignition on then it'll start the bleed process, or running it with inpa

      With a lot of ABS cars, if you use a pressure bleeder you only need about 15-20lbs of pressure to overcome the ABS pump and flush/bleed the system. It depends on the system though.

    The brakes on my E60 M5 have always been kind of squishy, seems to be at least semi common. It's never bothered me, just gives me a little less sensitivity through the brake pedal, but once you press hard enough you do get full stopping power. It really only ever comes up if someone else drives the car (which is pretty infrequent).

    You need to cycle the ABS system while bleeding the system because you've introduced too much air and it made its way into the ABS system. You'll be okay with the mushy pedal to move it around a little bit, but the brakes won't function properly until you do this. You can look around the forums to download the program called INPA and set it up on a Windows XP computer, but that means you also need the cable to connect the laptop to the car. You can also take the shortcut and take it to a BMW specialist to bleed the brakes for you. It'll be an hour of labor, but saves you a huge headache.

    when you get it back to the shop you NEED to build some air ducting from the grill to the radiator, otherwise the air will all go around it (path of leas resistance) and not through it.

    • @enddy123456
      @enddy123456 5 년 전 +3

      That's what the electric fan on the back of the radiator is for. It creates negative pressure in front of the radiator and pulls it through. Also positive pressure would build up around the engine, because the only good exit from the car is through the wheels, so I doubt it'll cause any real problems. As long as temps are low it's unnecessary.

    • @flyingdutchman916
      @flyingdutchman916 5 년 전 +3

      it actually will, the fan is really only there for when there isnt flow going through the grill (standing still, moving slowly, etc). when he car starts moving and the engine starts creating more heat the fan will not be enough. if you think about it there is more airflow in his car than most factory cars because the front wheels are not enclosed.

    • @enddy123456
      @enddy123456 5 년 전

      @@flyingdutchman916 yes, and that created airflow will help to drag more through the radiator. I doubt that there will be a cooling problem with this car.

    • @flyingdutchman916
      @flyingdutchman916 5 년 전

      dude, look up how airflow works. air, like energy takes the path of least resistance what is going to happen is that at higher speeds there will be a buffer, "wall", of air in front of the radiator which will push incoming air AROUND the radiator and not THROUGH the radiator.

    I know the video is older, but I was checking it out. Fantastic build btw. I had a 280zx and I have a 75 super beetle, both had super soft brake pedals. The bug was so soft you had to pump the brakes to get it to stop. I dropped out the brake fluid and I run power steering fluid in the brake system on both cars, brakes work great, I have been running the bug this way for almost 10 years with no ill effects on the braking system.

    "No way this car is done by SEMA. If it is, it will be a 1/2 done job. I wish him the best though, but he is really underestimating the time it will take to get this car done."
