    Hey Chris, I'm actually getting my own parts car today! I just wanted to thank you for the content you create, and giving me the confidence to work on stuff myself. From starting to small with cleaning my windshield and fixing cracks in it, then gaining confidence and doing an entire brake job, to now buying a whole parts car for my daily driver! I've made plenty of mistakes along the way, but I've truly enjoyed every moment of the journey so far. I have always loved cars, and I have you to thank for inspiring me to work on them myself. I am truly grateful, and look forward to whatever you have planned next for your channel.

    In our food delivery business we have parts trucks and vans sitting out back for all of our active vehicles . Besides parts they are good to practice on. I recently had to replace the valve seals (with the heads on) on our active 2003 Dodge Caravan. I practiced the whole job on the old 2001 Caravan sitting out back to make sure I could do it correctly without any snags. I also took the old rocker covers from the 2001 and cleaned them prior to the job so I could just throw them on the 2003 after doing the valve seals. It saved time and got the job done faster. I also needed a few small parts so I just ran out back and got them off the old one.

      The problem is - especially when you are in Europe: How to get rid of the stuff you can't sell (like the chassis)? Cutting everything apart, melting it and selling metal bars might be an idea. ^^

    • @All2Skitzd
      @All2Skitzd 7 년 전 +1

      kilésengati You just cut the chassis up and sell it as scrap metal. Before cutting it try to sell it as clips, where like if someone has a unibody that gets smashed up in front the clip the front end off and weld one from another car or if its gets smash in the rear corner they just weld the rear corner on.

    I did that with 2 motorcycles. I bought 2 that were broke for super cheap, slapped them together, and got it running really nice for way cheaper than buying a running bike. I've thought about parting the rest of the parts bike out, but I also kinda figure I might as well just keep the parts for my bike... Depends on your preferences and situation for sure.

    • @chrisfix

    • @chrisfix
      @chrisfix  7 년 전 +9

      Yea if there were no fees I could have gotten it for under $1k but I guess I also wouldnt be able to buy it either since I am not a dealer so there is some tradeoff. I need to get a trailer so I can pick the car up myself and save some money!

    • @electronicsNmore
      @electronicsNmore 7 년 전 +1

      ChrisFix You may want to look into getting a "dealers" license in NJ so you can buy/sell multiple cars. In Florida it's not that big of a deal. You need certain types of insurance, submit finger prints, and pay some fees....

    Dear Mr. Chris. I enjoy your movies a lot. Its so lively and filled with heart. Probably my expression is a bit weird as I am living is Jordan / Middle East. I would like to bring to your attention to inform your Respectable Dad to always fill up the gas when the gauge reaches the middle, i.e. to consider the middle mark as a mandatory mark to fill up so as to avoid any chance that the fuel pump is exposed or worn out because if that happen, you will have to remove the whole rear sub-frame to be able to lower the gas tank (pitfall engineering). This is very a very expensive job to any Jaguar rider our there unless if you have a lifter and you have the hobby and passion of working on cars. Thank you Chris for such a wonderful movie.

    Hey Chris... I am a single mom who drives for Uber and Lyft to keep my three teens fed (lol). Cleaning series has been something that I share constantly with other drivers. Have you ever thought about doing a maintenance series for those of us who are using our car daily for business/work. I would imagine the maintenance schedule would be different then for personal use and I’m sure you would have some great tips and insights… Anyways just an idea that would really help me and other Uber drivers out since most of us try to do our own maintenance to cut costs. Thanks a bunch!

    An electrical issue? on a Jaaaag? Imagine that ;)
    Actually the Ford era Jags are less prone to it but I figured it was a good opportunity for a comment :). Can't wait to see the follow up videos. I've been considering parts vehicles for my 79 Chevy pickup restoration. If I were made of money I could just buy everything from LMC Truck but.. I'm not. lol.

    • @All2Skitzd
      @All2Skitzd 7 년 전 +1

      A person that was made out of money? No thanks, hell just look at Pinocchio, homeboy was made of wood and couldn't tell a lie without getting a boner right in the middle of his face....
      No but really that is the kinda project the buy a parts truck on and you get a lot of year models that interchange. Trust me you wouldn't want to buy every part for LMC Truck. Sometimes the are cheaper than the boneyard but their body panels are trash on those trucks, f'n doors that aren't even close and stuff like that. On thing I do recommend buying from there is the locks for the door vent windows and if needed get the hood brace kit, it's like $20, looks good, and a lot safer then screwing or welding unistrut or some of the other shifty stuff I have seen people do.
      Shortbed?

    • @mikecola1883
      @mikecola1883 7 년 전 +1

      Im actually assisting on restoring an 81' Chevy myself. And yes, we buy parts from LMC. Cant really beat the quality, but MAN! The parts aren't cheap and the shipping isnt either!

    • @All2Skitzd
      @All2Skitzd 7 년 전 +1

      Apple Cola I've seen some total junk when it comes to body parts. Shipping is high but the prices are not bad when you think about it and compare to what new parts cost nowdays if the are OE parts (not the meets or exceeds standards, the OE equivalent, or 100% tested, etc) Your buying new parts for a classic truck from one central location. The general ideal is if your gonna build a truck you want to start with the a truck and not a LMC catalog if you want to build on a budget
