@@campkira got close to 350,000 miles on my 99 avalon w/ normal maintenance. transmission just went out. was daily driver till that happened. so now it's just sitting there because scrap prices are so low.

So wait a second.. This engine was the 2JZ-GE .. without turbo.. which made 220HP from the factory.. and know makes over 650 HP with a single turbo?? Wow!! Mad respect!

Don’t get me wrong I like what he does with his projects, some are finished and some are being worked on. But honestly if it was me that Supra would of been one of the first cars to be finished after the first day of getting it.

"Basically stock" engine, 200,000 miles, 30 pounds boost, running on mostly ethanol, what could go wrong?
@YoungReezy 2jz holds 2bar of boost well (its same that 30 pounds), if the tune was spot on, maybe a little safe side. But if i was build this i propably bought a set of forged pistons and rods, crank is just fine. 2JZ comes at factory with cast pistons, which is no odd thing because cast pistons in general are not the weakest link of engines if the tune is correct, normally the weakest link in turbo engines is conrods (because of crazy torque , which would occur when boost hits on), i dont know which style of conrods 2jz comes original (I-beam, H-beam, cast or forged but if i had to guess that they were I-beam and were forged). But as a peace of mind i would buy a set of aftermarket H-beams, they are just not so expensive nowadays, and i'm not meaning that i'll buy a set of maxxspeedingrods conrods, not because the company or it's products will be a bad stuff, i think they are actually great stuff for the price of these kind of rods. Actually "brand named" rods aren't that expensive either, actually 2jz parts are kind of cheap at least in here, finland, EU, example of that is billet stroker cranks for 2jz, cost about 2k€, which is not bad at all. But my point is that it will be strong enough to 5-600whp in bone stock form -ok, maybe it need's a MLS head gasket-, but what i also meant is that one grand for a set of conrods and another grand for forged pistons is what i determined to be a extra peace of mind. If wanna go with a cast pistons it is ok, actually 100hp per cylinder is not that crazy, if i compare this to my redblock Volvo turbo build, it has cast pistons and they are good for about 125hp per cylinder. Actually if the piston ring end gap is right and the tune is right it's kind of hard time to make pistons crack, you more likely bend a conrod than break piston, if u use original parts. Depends where you are they are in most countries I think. A nicely kept, clean, manual supra in the UK is north of a £100,000+ same as a nissan skyline gtr34. Since fast and furious these cars are now automotive icons and increasing in value

I almost had a Supra manual back in 1998. Girl that bought it was going to offer it up to me when she wasn't sure about driving it all year long in Michigan. She changed her mind later...oh well. I am sure any one of us subscribers would be ecstatic to be able to give the Frost Queen Supra a home, myself included. ive enjoyed watching you build on this Supra, because ive owned a '96 MkIV -GE Supra for the past 14 years, and ever since ive had it, always wanted to do a build with it. im really glad to see thats its possible. might have even inspired me to stay with my bottom end, as it now has 189k ish miles!

I'm super impressed I thought it would be in the 500hp range with all the miles on the motor and not that crazy of a build. It just shows you how strong these supra motor were. Congrats I cant wait to see how it turns out when its completely done.
