  • For six seasons Naya Rivera captured audiences as Santana Lopez on the beloved show "Glee". The late star got her start acting when she was only 4 years old. However, it would be her role as Santana, a teenage lesbian coming to terms with her sexuality, that would catapult her career.
Although "Glee" ended in 2015, Rivera continued to act, having most recently appeared on "Step Up," a show based on the film series of the same name. Rivera seemed to have a bright future ahead of her, but it was cut short by a heartbreaking incident in the summer of 2020.
These are the tragic details found in Naya Rivera's autopsy report.

For people saying "oh its her fault for having a white claw and drugs in her system". A white claw (1) is not enough to get you fully drunk. It is 5% alcohol. Let's be clear she was not taking shots (40-50% alcohol) on the boat. As for the drugs, very possible it was medication. Or not. Even in the video they state- very LOW amounts of both. Either way, don't victim blame over a tragic accident.

We have a nearby lake called Canyon Lake, which is very popular and often crowded. Several people drown there every Summer, usually after drinking a lot and swimming. The lake was actually a town once, and they just left the town, rusted cars, buildings, stores, etc., to be flooded. A friend of mine did a scuba dive there and said it was incredibly creepy and very dangerous. Weeds and rotting buildings can trap a person and my friend also swore that there were catfish the size of cars that were very aggressive. So many people have died there I just can't go to it anymore, it's very depressing to me and many bodies are never recovered, which is horrific as well.

I was 15 and swam daily. Our group would regularly have distance competitions like racing across the lake. This is so sad, reminds me of a scenario I experienced. Once, I jumped jumped in the lake from my paddleboat because I was hot. My muscles locked up and I sank like a rock. I didn't even know that was something that could happen.. Thankfully, my brothers saved me. Years later, when we were old enough to drink, I had a similar experience. Even though we had beer and had been jumping from the boat for hours, that last beer and that last jump, drunkenness increased to a dangerous level and instantly got nauseous, dizzy, couldn't swim, etc.
Again, the people I was with pulled me out.
Don't swim alone, there's safety in numbers. It's crazy how something can happen to the most seasoned water dogs. Plenty of our lakes are man made, there's flooded towns and forests. So, a person can easily disappear once they sink.

At the point you warn someone, you did your part, but you can't just claim "I would've told you but you wouldn't have listened" as a defense. That's just an assumption. Prescription meds can do weird things to people like slow your pulse or decrease the amount of available oxygen in a person's blood- in which case you definitely wouldn't have a chance if you started to drown. This seems like an accident that could happen to anyone, and I feel like there should be more public awareness around which activities are safe to do and what precautions are necessary if you're taking a cocktail of prescription drugs. Even a tiny bit of alcohol can have a significant intoxicating effect when combined with certain medications. There should be better safety measures implemented around any lake that people are using recreationally on a regular basis also. Getting tangled in underwater vegetation even briefly can rapidly become a death sentence. An area like that is not safe for swimming whatsoever and not everybody has the kind of health required for the fight of their life on a given afternoon. This didn't have to happen, and I'm so sorry it did.

This whole story stinks so bad! 1- She went alone with a 4 yo to rent a boat! 2 - She jumped into the water with him but not holding each other just like diving! Who does that with a 4 yo? My parents would jump with meband we would surface together! 3 - She manages to bring her son to safety but doesn't climb back into the boat. Well, its much harder to take someone out of the water with you being on the water than actually climbing out of the water yourself, this makes no sense at all but on top of it is 4 - the son takes a nap and is found sleeping after such traumatic experience. Absolutely zero logic on this story.

I agree did she have a life insurance policy? Where was her sister at the time this was happening? It’s also weird that the mom had screenshots of Naya’s FaceTime call just prior to her death. was she expecting to need them for some reason? Also sus that the sister is now living with Naya’s ex the baby daddy and “stepping in as the boys mother” just looking at all of these things would lead a rational person to speculate that the sister and baby daddy planned it so they could get insurance money and live happily ever after together. Could have easily given the child something to make him tired. The fact that the ex also sued the lake where she drowned like how money hungry are you? The super creepy part is how Naya sang “if I die young” in glee the lyrics say if I die young bury me in satin lay me down on a bed of roses SINK ME IN THE RIVER at dawn send me away with the words of a love song 😮 the last one is most likely coincidental but still makes you wonder.

When a body is decomposing and not preserved at the proper temperatures it is hard to get an accurate blood alcohol level. Post mortem fermentation occurs when a body is not kept cool after death. It can create false positive blood alcohol results or inflated blood alcohol levels at autopsy.
Very sad story. At the end of the day it was a tragic accident but thankfully there were not two bodies found and she saved her son. Once he was on the boat she sadly could no longer fight for her own life and lost it, but she will forever be both his hero and his angel. May she rest in peace.

yes, because a doctor would definitely give you Adderall and valium at the same time and say "go ahead, have a drink and go swimming In a lake without a life jacket on! oh, don't forget to take your kid with ya". seems very reasonable. and probably, it would've happened anyway without those too, but the dumbness must run in the family... who sued A LAKE because someone who went swimming in it knowin it was dangerous, drowned... the families of celebrities are fucked up to the core. even if there were 1000000 warning sings, he'd sue the boat owner for the so called lack of equipment(which I believe he did as well) and so on, just finding the reasons.

I used to be on some of the meds she was on and yes I even drank on them. So we are not ignorant to the fact that this is a mixed cocktail that WILL leave you in a questionable state. 1) she was not on drugs 2) she had a white claw on the boat, but she was not drunk, as her blood alcohol level was .016, which is extremely low 3) her family won the lawsuit because the county neglected to warn visitors of the dangers in the lake. Not to mention, the boat Naya got on was not equipped with a safety ladder, rope, an anchor, or a radio, one of which or more could’ve potentially saved her from drowning.
